The search intensifies for a San Francisco teacher who has been missing since july 17th. 46yearold ed cavanaugh went for a dirt bike ride along the rock creek trail in the El Dorado National forest. He was with a friend when they separated and no one has seen cavanaugh since. Family members are worried because cavanaugh has diabetes and relies on medication. Firefighters rushed in to put out a fast moving grass fire in pittsburg. Chopper 5 flew over the fire fight in the area of san marcos boulevard and west leland road area. The 37acre fire was in a difficult place to access but crews had a pretty good handle on it. To the right you can see how close that neighborhood is to the charred hillside. Firefighters think they know how it started. It looks like workers in the area tried to jump start an off road vehicle when it caught fire. Firefighters are in a race against the clock to get ahold of a massive fire in the sierra foothills. Nearly 2,000 homes are threatened tonight. As soon as there was enough light and it was safe to fly crews started attacking the lowell fire from the air hard, worried about what the afternoon weather changes could bring. Dropping retardant early on so when the winds start to pick up the heat comes out and the fire does pick up in activity, hopefully we can hold it in with our area. Reporter dozens of homeowners fled the area after flames went to their homes. We could feel the heat even from across the canyon. Reporter on day 3 of the fire crews have been on foot, concentrating on the north side of the fire where it jumped a dozier line and started new small fires. It did spot over to the small other side. While they do that, the air attack has been heavy on the northeast and east side. One major concern is a wind shift with winds coming out of the north or northwest that could push flames toward the more populated communities. If it gets well established in this area, it could push out to the forest or the smaller communities of alta or dutch flats. Reporter warmer weather ahead will also make this fire harder to fight in the next couple of days. That plus the wind means crews want everyone living near this fire to be on alert. We want people to Pay Attention when were expecting the wind shift to take place and be prepared. Firefighters gaining ground on the wragg fire thats burning in napa and solano counties. Fire started last wednesday on the Southeast Side of lake berryessa. Its burned 6600 acres. Two buildings and two cars have been destroyed. As that hot weather continues, hundreds of people are having to boil their water because of e. Coli contamination. The alert is out in los altos east of 280 around el monte avenue. People werent notified till sunday, two days after cal water discovered the fire. Some customers are wondering what took so long. I just found out via text that our water was contaminated from a neighbor. The neighbor gets a text saying dont drink the water. Contamination was discovered after crews were making repairs to a water main. The boil water advisory is in effect for two more days. The Golden State Warriors have a major endorsement in their pocket tonight. Ucsf says its in favor of it. Phil matier says that endorsement comes with a big catch to it. Thats right. Funeral services are being held today for two louisiana women who were killed in a Movie Theater shooting. Mourners gathered outside a chapel to remember the life of jillian johnson. The 33yearold was a wife artist, and entrepreneur. She was killed alongside 21yearold mayci breaux during a shooting spree at the theater. She was a radiology student at a louisiana college. Investigators are piecing up the moments leading up to the shooting. Surveillance video shows suspect john houser chatting with the front desk clerk of his motel. Its being called the biggest smart phone flaw ever discovered and it affects an estimated 950 million phones. The flaw was discovered by Computer Security expert here in San Francisco. He found a weakness that allows someone to gain access to your files by sending a message with a malicious code attached and you dont even actually have to view the media to be affected. Just reading the message in some apps could be enough to allow someone to take over your phone.
