He says juan beat him with what was left of the cane and left these bruises before running off. Jose and two other bystanders then chased him for three blocks and held him down until police arrived. Prosecutors say he remains in custody testimony wraps up today in San Francisco in a case being watched all around the country. A divorced couple battling over their frozen embryos. This case could set a new legal precedent about these implications of medical technology. It centers around a woman named mimi lee. She wants to use the frozen embryos she created with her now exhusband to become pregnant. When she underwent fertility treatments five years ago and before they divorced, the couple had agreed in writing that if they divorced, the embryos would be destroyed. But since then, lee had cancer and the treatments left her infertile. We feel that our client has more compelling argument because she is now infertile. That is a relevant and compelling factor is the fact that this is her only option for having a child who is genetically related to her. Reporter a superior court judge is now deciding if lees infertility outweighs the agreement she made with her ex husband. And there are of course broader implications of this when it comes to medical advances. Friends and family will hold a candlelight vigil tonight for a man shot and killed during a confrontation with pleasanton police. Investigators say 19yearold john deming, jr. , broke into a car dealership last month. They say deming knocked an officer down and kept punching him even after the officer tased him. Thats when the officer opened fire. That vigil will be at demings alma mater, Piedmont Hills High School in san jose. A jury now has to decide whether the colorado Movie Theater shooter deserves the death penalty. Yesterday, the same jury found james holmes guilty on all counts. My body shuddered.
