suffered minor injuries. at one point the crash blocked the three right lines on southbound 101 causing this mess. two northbound lanes were also blocked by emergency vehicles. the backup, as you can see, stretched all the way through bridge.y and across the bay it was really, really bad tonight. the chp tweeted this video a little while ago of the dump truck being uprighted about 45 minutes ago. all lanes were reopened. a man who escaped a hawaii psychiatric hospital and fled to the bay area told a judge that he wants to stay here. randall saito is charged with escape in the second degree now and as as abc 7 news reporter melanie woodrow comes, he'll stay here long enough to get the turkey and all the trimmings. >> an escapee telling the judge he would not waive extradition. >> i don't want to go to a had a. >> he'll enjoy thanksgiving from the jail. >> the sooner we get here the better. >> before chartering a flight to maui and hopping on a commercial flight to san jose. it was during another cab ride on his way to reno that deputies swooped in and arrested saito at a gas station in stockton. he went without putting up a fight. >> we'll start with the reason i escaped. i when you can expect that rain and how the rest of your weekend is shaping up. dan? >> thanks a lot. a man and woman are in the hospital recovering from a vicious dog attack in oakland. nicole kennedy suffered terrible dog bite wounds to her head and face and a broken leg after getting attacked by two pit bulls. the dogs also malled a man who ran to help her. the dogs escaped from neighbor's yard and killed keedy's sharpy mix before attacking her. a mal control has confiscated the dogs. now to the tehama county shootings. five people were killed and 12 wounded including a mother of five who was shot five times and survived. after being shot she begged for help but no one stopped. tonight show's recovering in a shot and told her story to francis wang. >> that brave woman is a mother of four who was dropping her kids off at school when all of this happened. even though she was shot multiple times she desperately tried to find help to make sure her kids were okay. >> today in her hospital bed we didn't film her voice but didn't have to see her to hear the terror she's been through. >> every bullet that hit me i was just praying that he would stop. >> she was shot five times, four near the heart and once through her hip. her so-year-old hit in the calf and her 6-year-old in the foot. >> the moment that i saw my body went limp and i was just so scared. i was like oh, no, no, no, don't let it be them. >> instead of her own pain tiffany focused on protecting her kid. she pulled out a handgun trying to fire back but the gunman took off. she drove for miles asking people for help. no one did. >> just let me make a u-turn and i was watching my driver in the rear view mirror and he just drove off and came back. >> finally when she was starting to lose hope. >> deputy sheriff johnston, helped me. ail asked was for him to just look after my kids. i was just relieved that even if i stopped breathing at that moment then i wouldn't have left my kids stranded with no one for them to get gunned down. >> now recovering in her hospital bed she's not angry, not at the gunman and not at those who left her when she needed it the most. >> it hurts my heart a lot that no to set up the family to help with medical faces. oakland city leaders are making sweeping changes since we're approaching one year since the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. city leaders announced reforms to prevent the same type of tragedy from happening again. the city is ogd more fire and building inspectors and adding outside help and bring the fire and building inspection database into one single system. the effort also includes multi-lingual outreach to tennants. >> we put together notices that are also gting wd to the tennants and a lot about this is about communication and making sure that the residences are in the buildings and facilities are aware of actions pending and of resources that they have. >> the oakland warehouse association has voiced some concerns about seeing more evictions as a result of the reforms. across the bay the berkeley police department is investigating a string of robberies. all five happened at night between november 9th and the 14th around the uc campus. based on the suspect's descriptions, police believe the cases are all related and in each case the two row, approached a lone victim and tried to take their possessions. police are encouraging people to pay attention, of course to have, their surroundings and travel in groups whenever possible for safety. >> b.a.r.t. says it has identified the man responsible for monday negotiate's bigoted and strange and belligerent attack on a fellow passenger. cell phone video captured the man seen in the long sleeve shirt there yelling racial slurs at another passenger and then slapping and punching him. b.a.r.t. isn't release the man's name but says the man is being banned now from the system. the transit agency is also commending the victim and other passengers for not pier 15. a with thanksgiving coming up fire victims in napa county are taking stock of all they have been through. abc 7 news reporter leseley brinkley caught up with one family who lost several homes and their business. >> this is where i grew up. >> dan walked me through his sprawling property. what remains of his two family homes, a could the am, a two-story office and engraving shop and a chapel that are all gone. then, there are the 20 acres of green cemetery plots all untouched by the fire at bubbling well pet memorial park. 15,000 pets are buried here and he feels lucky that the records were saved. >> fortunately our office manager was taking home a backup disc so that at the time of the fire she had a backup disc which was wonderful. she also had her computer at home. >> the drone view 7 captured the devastation at this family compound after the fire. he and his 97-year-old mother were air lived out on a chop their couldn't take his dog. drake survived the inferno inside this truck. there are other complications. 100 urns with pet ashes were rekreemted during the fire and lost. it's been hard to notify the pet owners, but there are plans to build a memorial here. >> once we get cleared by fema and the cleanup program, we're going to make the place as safe as possible for the public and we'll think about getting a temporary trailer in here and open up for business. >> my main goal right now is to keep our business alive and well, and we're doing that, but on a personal level i've kicked the can down the road because i don't have time, you know. i get big day for drivers who use a road in one east bay city. crews will be taking down the road closed signs on morgan territory road in clayton at 5:00 tomorrow morning. the two-lane road suffered considerable damage from the storms last winter and has been closed for months. in fact, for a time the road was slipping up to a foot a day. repair work began in july, but it's about to be reopened to the public. san francisco commuters took their first roids today on muni's newest light rail trains. abc 7 news was at church street and debows avenue when mayor ed lee cut the ribbon. moneyi says you'll be more comfortable and they will make less noise of the current fleet of 20-year-old trains. >> now you'll have cleaner, more reliable t.goes from an average of five years before major maintenance to some 49 years. >> muni will eventually have more than 250 of these cars. siemens is building them in sacramento and they will gradually replace all of moneyi's existing lrvs. eventually they will have a larger fleet than it does now. this is arguably one of the busiest travel days of the year, and you're looking live now at san francisco international airport. the airport eats duty manager told us there are no major delays or widespread cancellations at sfo which is good to hear. abc 7 news was inside terminal two earlier today where check-in and security lines stretched for tonight from the president that comes after a decision to lift the ban on trophies of elephants hunted in africa. also president trump blasts senator al franken but remains silent on roy moore. by hour with president trump's surprise announcement tonight to suspend his decision on importing big game trophies. the president tweet that had he put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as he can review all conservation facts. he said an update would come soon. now this move comes as celebrities, politicians and even some trump supporters had criticized the administration's decision to allow people to import elephant trophies into the united states. here's abc news reporter dave packer. >> reporter: president trump changing course, holding off a decision to lift a ban that would have allowed big game hunters in zambia or zimbabwe to bring their trophies through u.s. customs, president tweeting he's putting the decision on hold until he reviews all the facts. the move overrode a ban by president obama two years ago sparked outrage. >> this is a small set of people who think it's okay to kill some of the rarest most beautiful animals in the world. >> but some like the president's son don jr. seen here with an elephant tail in one hand hand a knife in the other argue the that the tens of thousands of dollars spent by big game hunters may actually protect the money. news, new york. now to the national outcry over sexual misconduct. tonight the president is weighing in, blasting senator al franken after a woman accused him of forcibly kissing her during a uso tour before he was a senators, but the president has remained silent on senate candidate roy moore. here's abc's senior white house correspondent cecilia vega. >> reporter: didn't take long for the president to weigh in on senator al franken as he appeared to grope a sleeping woman. in a late night tweet he said the al franken stein picture is really bad. where do his hands go in pictures, two, three, four, five and six while she sleeps and to think that last week he was lecturing anyone who would listen about sexual harassment and respect for woman. that ziering rebuke came hours after the accusations against the minnesota democrat became public, but as for the more than week-old allegations accusing alabama senate candidate roy moore of sexual misconduct. >> do you believe roy more's accusers? >> reporter: the president ignored our questions repeatedly. >> should he resign. >> reporter: with the non-answers and that attack on franken tonight the allegations of sexual misconduct against president trump himself are back in the spotlight from the "access hollywood." >> automatically attracted, kissing them is like had a magnet and when you're a star you can do anything. you can dorff whatever you want. >> reporter: for more than a dozen women who came forward alleging everything from sexual assault to harassment and inappropriate behavior. >> all of these liars will be sued after the election is over. >> reporter: today we put the question to the white house. if it's fair to investigate al franken and the allegation made by his kiraccuser, is it fair t investigate this president and the allegations of sexual misconduct made against him by more than a dozen woman? >> i think that this was covered pretty extensively during the campaign. we address that had then. the american people i think spoke very loud and clear when they elected this president. >> reporter: how is this different? >> i think in one case specifically senator franken has admitted wrongdoing and the president hasn't. that's a very clear distinction. >> reporter: no sign of franken in the wake of radio host leann tweeden's work in 2006. in addition to that photo, she says he kissed her force gli and against her will. >> i was just disgusted. i felt like he betrayed my trust. >> reporter: today on "the view" tweeden has said see received a letter of apology. >> dear leann, i want to apologize to you personally. i'm sincerely sorry. al franken. alabama's republican governor says she will vote for roy moore in next month's special election for the u.s. senate despi sexual harassment accusations against him. this came as moore's wife kayla and a group of women aggressively defended him outside alabama's state capitol today. moore supporters accused media outlets and the, quote, washington establishment with trying to block his election as a way of derailing president trump's agenda. >> even after all the attacks against me, against my family, against the foundation and now against my husband, he will not step down. >> that's right. >> moore faces accusations of sexual misconduct towards teenage girl when he was in his 30s decades ago. abc 7 news caught up with a bay area congresswoman jackie spear who spoke about the believability of roy moore's accusers. >> women don't come forward and lie. they come -- because they know what the downside risk is to come forward to begin with and even coming forward is a painful experience because you're reliving it. >> she revealed that she was sexually harassed in congress is pushing new anti-sexual harassment legislation in the house. all right. let's move on now. while thousands of tourists visit san francisco to take in the sight, you might forget about the amazing sounds and flavors as well, but they certainly were not lost on this group from guide dogs for the blind. the organization staged a tour from members from around the country to celebrate the organization's 75th anniversary. visitors and their dogs stronghold through chinatown stopping to zoning up some of the history hand more than a few boxes of takeout. >> chinatown was one of the top places that they wanted to come and tour, so one of the things that really i think makes my heart sing is watching how well our dogs work and teams work together in what can be a chaotic environment. >> this is the largest tour group that the organization has ever brought to chinatown. earlier today mayor ed lee proclaimed this guide dog day. and while we're talking about dog, you should get one if you want to live longer apparently. according to swedish researchers for people living hey lone, owning a dog can decrease your risk death by 33%. the risk cardio vascular-related deaths was reduced when compared to a person without a pet. the animals offer support, and you can reduce your risk death by 11%. coming up next, will the october fires leave a smokey taste in this year's wines? we sent wayne freedman up to wine one expert says the number of people employed in the state is reaching epic proportions. the unemployment rate was 4.9% statewide, down from 5.1 in september, and in the bay area specifically the jobless rate is even better. 2.7% in san francisco. 2.5% in san mateo county and 2.6% in marin. the california wine industry is a multi-billion dollar business, you know that. that brings millions of tourists to the golden state. but what if that all went up in smoke because of smoke? it's one of the questions left behind by the north bay wildfires. abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman explains the possible impact of all of that smoke on those precious grapes. >> reporter: for vines it's the is for a well-earned rest after the harvest. for wine-makers though not so much. >> when you farm, you make a deal with god. whatever is handed down, you -- there's no appeal. >> reporter: among growers and makers like bill williamson every year the question is what which leads to us this laboratory far from the vines, the grapes and barrels and tasting rooms. suffice it to say that here the instruments have extremely discriminating palates? >> we need to note chemistry of the wine to understand it. >> reporter: every vintage is a challenge every year, but this year's is especially unique. we had early rains. we had a heat rain later in the year and unbalanced acidity and then the north bay fires actually burned some vineyards and left others sitting beneath heavy blankets of smoke. only 5% of the harvest remained at that time but for growers like bill williamson in the dry creek valley. >> we workied that it got smoke taint and in two or three years time the wine will taste like bacon or ashtrays. >> reporter: smokey is insidious and even an expert can't taste it until too late in the process. this team examined countless samples with better than expected results. >> the impact of the smoke is not as strong as we were expecting, so it's easy to deal with it and to make it not smoking. >> reporter: their tried and true polysyllabic methods that qualify under the heading too much information. >> we used a process called flash detente. >> reporter: hand maybe in a year he'll the driver of that dump truck was pinned under his vehicle. first responders were able to get the man out, but they were unable to save him. everyone on the muni bus is okay. but five passengers suffered minor injuries. at one point the crash blocked the three right lines on southbound 101 causing this mess. two northbound lanes were also blocked by emergency vehicles. the backup, as you can see, stretched all the way through bridge.y and across the bay it was really, really bad tonight. the chp tweeted this video a little while ago of the dump truck being uprighted about 45 minutes ago. all lanes were reopened. a man who escaped a hawaii psychiatric hospital and fled to the bay area told a judge that he wants to stay here. randall saito is charged with escape in the second degree now and as as abc 7 news reporter melanie woodrow comes, he'll stay here long enough to get the turkey and all the trimmings. >> an escapee telling the judge he would not waive extradition. >> i don't want to go to a had a. >> he'll enjoy thanksgiving from the jail. >> the sooner we get here the better. >> before chartering a flight to maui and hopping on a commercial flight to san jose. it was during another cab ride on his way to reno that deputies swooped in and arrested saito at a gas station in stockton. he went without putting up a fight. >> we'll start with the reason i escaped. i when you can expect that rain and how the rest of your weekend is shaping up. dan? >> thanks a lot. a man and woman are in the hospital recovering from a vicious dog attack in oakland. nicole kennedy suffered terrible dog bite wounds to her head and face and a broken leg after getting attacked by two pit bulls. the dogs also malled a man who ran to help her. the dogs escaped from neighbor's yard and killed keedy's sharpy mix before attacking her. a mal control has confiscated the dogs. now to the tehama county shootings. five people were killed and 12 wounded including a mother of five who was shot five times and survived. after being shot she begged for help but no one stopped. tonight show's recovering in a shot and told her story to francis wang. >> that brave woman is a mother of four who was dropping her kids off at school when all of this happened. even though she was shot multiple times she desperately tried to find help to make sure her kids were okay. >> today in her hospital bed we didn't film her voice but didn't have to see her to hear the terror she's been through. >> every bullet that hit me i was just praying that he would stop. >> she was shot five times, four near the heart and once through her hip. her so-year-old hit in the calf and her 6-year-old in the foot. >> the moment that i saw my body went limp and i was just so scared. i was like oh, no, no, no, don't let it be them. >> instead of her own pain tiffany focused on protecting her kid. she pulled out a handgun trying to fire back but the gunman took off. she drove for miles asking people for help. no one did. >> just let me make a u-turn and i was watching my driver in the rear view mirror and he just drove off and came back. >> finally when she was starting to lose hope. >> deputy sheriff johnston, helped me. ail asked was for him to just look after my kids. i was just relieved that even if i stopped breathing at that moment then i wouldn't have left my kids stranded with no one for them to get gunned down. >> now recovering in her hospital bed she's not angry, not at the gunman and not at those who left her when she needed it the most. >> it hurts my heart a lot that no one stopped. i mean, the four people but i understand. >> the little energy she does have is, again, focused on her kids. >> i just want to see them grow. reporting.family friends have s gofundme page to set up the family to help with medical faces. oakland city leaders are making sweeping changes since we're approaching one year since the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. city leaders announced reforms to prevent the same type of tragedy from happening again. the city is ogd more fire and building inspectors and adding outside help and bring the fire and building inspection database into one single system. the effort also includes multi-lingual outreach to tennants. >> we put together notices that are also gting wd to the tennants and a lot about this is about communication and making sure that the residences are in the buildings and facilities are aware of actions pending and of resources that they have. >> the oakland warehouse association has voiced some concerns about seeing more evictions as a result of the reforms. across the bay the berkeley police department is investigating a string of robberies. all five happened at night between november 9th and the 14th around the uc campus. based on the suspect's descriptions, police believe the cases are all related and in each case the two row, approached a lone victim and tried to take their possessions. police are encouraging people to pay attention, of course to have, their surroundings and travel in groups whenever possible for safety. >> b.a.r.t. says it has identified the man responsible for monday negotiate's bigoted and strange and belligerent attack on a fellow passenger. cell phone video captured the man seen in the long sleeve shirt there yelling racial slurs at another passenger and then slapping and punching him. b.a.r.t. isn't release the man's name but says the man is being banned now from the system. the transit agency is also commending the victim and other passengers for not pier 15. a with thanksgiving coming up fire victims in napa county are taking stock of all they have been through. abc 7 news reporter leseley brinkley caught up with one family who lost several homes and their business. >> this is where i grew up. >> dan walked me through his sprawling property. what remains of his two family homes, a could the am, a two-story office and engraving shop and a chapel that are all gone. then, there are the 20 acres of green cemetery plots all untouched by the fire at bubbling well pet memorial park. 15,000 pets are buried here and he feels lucky that the records were saved. >> fortunately our office manager was taking home a backup disc so that at the time of the fire she had a backup disc which was wonderful. she also had her computer at home. >> the drone view 7 captured the devastation at this family compound after the fire. he and his 97-year-old mother were air lived out on a chop their couldn't take his dog. drake survived the inferno inside this truck. there are other complications. 100 urns with pet ashes were rekreemted during the fire and lost. it's been hard to notify the pet owners, but there are plans to build a memorial here. >> once we get cleared by fema and the cleanup program, we're going to make the place as safe as possible for the public and we'll think about getting a temporary trailer in here and open up for business. >> my main goal right now is to keep our business alive and well, and we're doing that, but on a personal level i've kicked the can down the road because i don't have time, you know. i get big day for drivers who use a road in one east bay city. crews will be taking down the road closed signs on morgan territory road in clayton at 5:00 tomorrow morning. the two-lane road suffered considerable damage from the storms last winter and has been closed for months. in fact, for a time the road was slipping up to a foot a day. repair work began in july, but it's about to be reopened to the public. san francisco commuters took their first roids today on muni's newest light rail trains. abc 7 news was at church street and debows avenue when mayor ed lee cut the ribbon. moneyi says you'll be more comfortable and they will make less noise of the current fleet of 20-year-old trains. >> now you'll have cleaner, more reliable t.goes from an average of five years before major maintenance to some 49 years. >> muni will eventually have more than 250 of these cars. siemens is building them in sacramento and they will gradually replace all of moneyi's existing lrvs. eventually they will have a larger fleet than it does now. this is arguably one of the busiest travel days of the year, and you're looking live now at san francisco international airport. the airport eats duty manager told us there are no major delays or widespread cancellations at sfo which is good to hear. abc 7 news was inside terminal two earlier today where check-in and security lines stretched for tonight from the president that comes after a decision to lift the ban on trophies of elephants hunted in africa. also president trump blasts senator al franken but remains silent on roy moore. by hour with president trump's surprise announcement tonight to suspend his decision on importing big game trophies. the president tweet that had he put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as he can review all conservation facts. he said an update would come soon. now this move comes as celebrities, politicians and even some trump supporters had criticized the administration's decision have allowed big game hunters in zambia or zimbabwe to bring their trophies through u.s. customs, president tweeting he's putting the decision on hold until he reviews all the facts. the move overrode news, new york. now to the national outcry over sexual misconduct. tonight the president is weighing in, blasting senator al franken after a woman accused him of forcibly kissing her during a uso tour before he was a senators, but the president has remained silent on senate candidate roy moore. here's abc's senior white house correspondent cecilia vega. >> reporter: didn't take long for the president to weigh in on senator al franken as he appeared to grope a sleeping woman. in a late night tweet he said the al franken stein picture is really bad. where do his hands go in pictures, two, three, four, five and six while she sleeps and to think that last week he was lecturing anyone who would listen about sexual harassment and respect for woman. that ziering rebuke came hours after the accusations against the minnesota democrat became public, but as for the more than week-old allegations accusing alabama senate candidate roy moore of sexual misconduct. >> do you believe roy more's accusers? >> reporter: the president ignored our questions repeatedly. >> should he resign. >> reporter: with the non-answers and that attack on franken tonight the allegations of sexual misconduct against president trump himself are back in the spotlight from the "access hollywood." >> automatically attracted, kissing them is like had a magnet and when you're a star you can do anything. you can dorff whatever you want. >> reporter: for more than a dozen women who came forward alleging everything from sexual assault to harassment and inappropriate behavior. >> all of these liars will be sued after the election is over. >> reporter: today we put the question to the white house. if it's fair to investigate al franken and the allegation made by his kiraccuser, is it fair t investigate this president and the allegations of sexual misconduct made against him by more than a dozen woman? >> i think that this was covered pretty extensively during the campaign. we address that had then. the american people i think spoke very loud and clear when they elected this president. >> reporter: how is this different? >> i think in one case specifically senator franken has admitted wrongdoing and the president hasn't. that's a very clear distinction. >> reporter: no sign of franken in the wake of radio host leann tweeden's work in 2006. in addition to that photo, she says he kissed her force gli and against her will. >> i was just disgusted. i felt like he betrayed my trust. >> reporter: today on "the view" tweeden has said see received a letter of apology. >> dear leann, i want to apologize to you personally. i'm sincerely sorry. al franken. alabama's republican governor says she will vote for roy moore in next month's special election for the u.s. senate despi sexual harassment accusations against him. this came as moore's wife kayla and a group of women aggressively defended him outside alabama's state capitol today. moore supporters accused media outlets and the, quote, washington establishment with trying to block his election as a way of derailing president trump's agenda. >> even after all the attacks against me, against my family, against the foundation and now against my husband, he will not step down. >> that's right. >> moore faces accusations of sexual misconduct towards teenage girl when he was in his 30s decades ago. abc 7 news caught up with a bay area congresswoman jackie spear who spoke about the believability of roy moore's accusers. >> women don't come forward and lie. they come -- because they know what the downside risk is to come forward to begin with and even coming forward is a painful experience because you're reliving it. >> she revealed that she was sexually harassed in congress is pushing new anti-sexual harassment legislation in the house. all right. let's move on now. while thousands of tourists visit san francisco to take in the sight, you might forget about the amazing sounds and flavors as well, but they certainly were not lost on this group from guide dogs for the blind. the organization staged a tour from members from around the country to celebrate the organization's 75th anniversary. visitors and their dogs stronghold through chinatown stopping to zoning up some of the history hand more than a few boxes of takeout. >> chinatown was one of the top places that they wanted to come and tour, so one of the things that really i think makes my heart sing is watching how well our dogs work and teams work together in what can be a chaotic environment. >> this is the largest tour group that the organization has ever brought to chinatown. earlier today mayor ed lee proclaimed this guide dog day. and while we're talking about dog, you should get one if you want to live longer apparently. according to swedish researchers for people living hey lone, owning a dog can decrease your risk death by 33%. the risk cardio vascular-related deaths was reduced when compared to a person one expert says the number of people employed in the state is reaching epic proportions. the unemployment rate was 4.9% statewide, down from 5.1 in september, and in the bay area specifically the jobless rate is even better. 2.7% in san francisco. 2.5% in san mateo county and 2.6% in marin. the california wine industry is a multi-billion dollar business, you know that. that brings millions of tourists to the golden state. but what if that all went up in smoke because of smoke? it's one of the questions left behind by the north bay wildfires. abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman explains the possible impact of all of that smoke on those precious grapes. >> reporter: for vines it's the is for a well-earned rest after the harvest. for wine-makers though not so much. >> when you farm, you make a deal with god. whatever is handed down, you -- there's no appeal. >> reporter: among growers and makers like bill williamson every year the question is what which leads to us this laboratory far from the vines, the grapes and barrels and tasting rooms. suffice it to say that here the instruments have extremely discriminating palates? >> we need to note chemistry of the wine to understand it. >> reporter: every vintage is a challenge every year, but this year's is especially unique. we had early rains. we had a heat rain later in the year and unbalanced acidity and then the north bay fires actually burned some vineyards and left others sitting beneath heavy blankets of smoke. only 5% of the harvest remained at that time but for growers like bill williamson in the dry creek valley. >> we workied that it got smoke taint and in two or three years time the wine will taste like bacon or ashtrays. >> reporter: smokey is insidious and even an expert can't taste it until too late in the process. this team examined countless samples with better than expected results. >> the impact of the smoke is not as strong as we were expecting, so it's easy to deal with it and to make it not smoking. >> reporter: their tried and true polysyllabic methods that qualify under the heading too much information. >> we used a process called flash detente. >> reporter: hand maybe in a year he'll
