The first stop for almost 300,000 people who come here every year from around the world to our beautiful city, i want to tell you about another jewel at the San Francisco court that just celebrated 125 years, the San Francisco Ferry Building. In the 19th century commuters and visitors traveled by train or ferry or both. A Ferry Terminal on the waterfront downtown was a practical necessity. It was the sfo of its day, sam central station. As we so often do, San Francisco builds a practical space of worldclass beauty with a 245 foot tower along arched arcade and an interior worthy of our renaissance cathedral. At the foot of market street, a beautiful bridge from water to land, the Ferry Building announced to every commuter, every traveler. This is San Francisco. You have arrived. Until, that is, in the late 1930s when two new ridges, the bay and the golden gate in the rights of the automobile made the ferry seem outdated. Soon the grant interior was converted to draft cubicles and then in an act of irving complaining catastrophe that only the 1950s could spawn, a doubledecker freeway rose in the buildings front yard slicing it from the city observed. For decades, this great landmark was isolated, nearly forgotten, a crumbling shell of its former glory. No one went there, no one but on its future. If time had passed, but then the freeway came down in a city created a new walkable grant with the giants on one end and a resort Ferry Building at the center with patients, smart planning, investment in time. San francisco turned a discarded transit hub back into a global icon, a famous citys most famous landmark, as hurricane called it. Today the Ferry Building post farmers markets and fairies and thousands of tourists and locals and just a few months ago it hosted leaders from around the world. This one building, at the heart of downtown says a lot about our downtown and about our city. First, beautiful places, world class places. There you have mayor breed just beginning hurt state of the city address here at pier 27. She was referencing what this area symbolizes, the very building, as a place where you are welcoming people visiting the city, talking about San Francisco pride. We are expected to talk about that as she continues to take the provision and moving San Francisco forward. We will continue to bring the latest on air and online. Back to you. We will continue to stream that speech online. Stomach happening now today, pg e, customers may learn if there rates will go even higher. The golden gate bridge, it is still cloudy over parts of dublin and san jose, but eventually we should mix out of the cloud, and seymour afternoon sunshine. Amateurs today are similar to yesterday, just a few more degrees of warming in santa rosa, fairfield, hayward at 64 degrees and 62 in downtown san jose. Tomorrow, you will need sunglasses and maybe a short sleeve shirt as we transition into temperatures during 70 degrees through the south county san Jose Morgan Hill and san martin, 60 degrees. A lot of upper 60s around the bay area, 66 in martinez, 60 to in San Francisco to get the weekend started. It will be shortlived. As we go forward and make weakens plans, it is not going to be a washout with the rain, but you will have to plan accordingly. The rain is returning on saturday morning into the afternoon and as we go into sunday, the morning should stay fairly clear, but it is the afternoon when another system drops from the north coming with some snow showers for this year. The best bet to get there would be today and tomorrow before things start changing. We will get some unsettled weather into next week, monday and tuesday, but behind that, better news for people like marcus that left the sunshine. We have more coming as we build more highpressure the middle of next week and beyond.
