You mentioned google in your package. Google marks its 25th anniversary today, september 4th, 25 years ago. You have been at nbc bay area 25 years, so you covered google since the very beginning. It wasnt even called google. I know youll get to that. Were going to have that teaser. Noah pransky tells us about that. Google became a verb by building a better Search Engine. Back in the 90s, a lot of searches were kind of junk. Google basically took the links on a page, back links as they were called and used them to rank web sites, and they improved the quality of our searches a lot. The original name wasnt google, based on the back links, the original company name was backrub, in 96, back rub was the original company, they changed it a year later, they incorporate, and things happen fast from there. 1999 off and running, 2004, they were valued at 23 billion already. 2015, they reorganize and become the alphabet company, reflecting really a very diverse Business Model and in 2020, alphabet becomes 1 trillion in valuation. Today, 1. 7 trillion at last check. But i want to show you the domination of google. I mean, we know theyre valuable, but by 2023, 20 years ago, they were already the top Search Engine in the country. By 2013, more than 80 of the searches in america were on google, and today, that number is closer to 99 out of 10 searches in america on the google platform. But they are much more than just a Search Engine. Let me show you where the revenues are coming from. The big piece here, 57 adds on the google search, theyre into hardware, software, they own you tube. So 21 of revenues coming from ads on you tube, and other places. They have a profitable Cloud Business now. As you can see, big picture here, and this whole picture, that is how you create the third most valuable company in america. Guys, back to you. What was it called, back rub . Im going to ask my producer. Can you imagine, do you want to back rub that. Excuse me, lets just google that. I cant believe they were thinking about that name. Must have went through some pr back then. Lets talk about our weather. People still enjoying the day off and what a great ending to the Labor Day Holiday weekend. If you happened to have the day off, it really was beautiful outside, all across the bay area from the coastline to right across our inland valleys. Let me get you a look here at our micro climate forecast, and i do want to go ahead and take it in to a look at san jose. Currently 78 degrees. Just perfect outside. A little bit of a breeze out of the north, northwest here at 16. But thats just making it enjoyable here. Eventually we get down to 60s here through 8 00 and also 9 00. Maybe its not san jose, but youre headed to livermore, still maybe catching up with some family or friends tonight. You had stuff to do earlier, and its just kind of one of those late evenings. Were at 83. A little bit of a breeze out of the west at 13, and dropping down to 74 at 7 00 p. M. As we head through the week, a couple of systems passing to the north. Theres no rainfall from this for us. But what we are going to see with this pattern set up here, thats super important for us is its just going to continue to keep hottest air well away, so there is going to be no way were going to be getting into the 100s this week. Its going to make it a little bit easier here as we try to get back to the grind, the routine tomorrow after a long extended holiday, as we roll through tomorrows forecast, yes, we started off with fog. It doesnt look super widespread. I think the best chance of fog would be right here near the bay or the coast. A little bit of patchy fog for san jose and gilroy, and we will see the bulk clear back to the coastline a the 10 30 in the morning, and that would set us up with quite a bit of sunshine for tomorrow afternoon. For your tuesday forecast, its going to set up nice. Temperatures in the upper 50s and also low 60s with, again, a little bit of patchy fog near the coast and the bay. That will have us down to 58 in San Francisco and for the east bay, 61. Now lets get to those temperatures. I talked about how nice its going to be, across the south bay, 84 in los gatos. Down to morgan hill and gilroy. Over to the east way, 73 in oakland, head inland, 88 in antioch. 85 in pleasanton. Peninsula, 79 in redwood city, San Francisco, 61 in the marina, and across the north bay, lots of low to mid80s through wine country. You still got to get on a plane. Youre going to be traveling somewhere tomorrow or anyone that was visiting is heading back. I did want to show you on the national map, we are still tracking some big time heat from dallas, right up to minneapolis. 90s to 102. Storms up to minneapolis that could delay you. Otherwise not too bad through the southeast, 92 in atlanta. Also looking at 92 in orlando. On the sevenday forecast in San Francisco, pretty steady, though, 60s hanging on as we roll through the workweek, and low 70s this weekend. And we do go a little bit warmer here by next sunday and monday, but its not a heat wave. I mean, this is just beautiful. So beautiful. September forecast. Great start to september. Thanks, jeff.
