Law enforcement Officials Say the nypds Intelligence Unit sent a packet of information to Police Agencies nationwide describing the violent rhetoric and the threats of social media with a separate report sent directly to Capitol Police. And a senior fbi official says agents contacted more than a dozen suspected extremists. These are people who were already under fbi surveillance. And who indicated a desire to come to washington last week. The official says agents talked them out of coming here. The u. S. Capitol police have not responded to our request for comment about all this. But these disclosures do add to the questions about why the Capitol Police were not better prepared when the rioters stormed in and why there wasnt a greater sense of urgency throughout the federal government about the possibility that the capitol was a target.
