Looking at our old studios in 1999 when the dow first crossed 10,000. There was worry the technology on wall street would not be able to handle a fivedigit number but everything turned out just fine. President trump congratulated everyone on the stock market and said the number 30,000 was, in his words, sacred. In truth there is nothing special or magical other than its a nice big, round number, like a tenyear wedding anniversary or centennial. Now the president does like to take credit and while you can argue, its doubled since he was first elected president. You know what else is on its way up, home prices. Caseshiller says prices rose in nearly every market they measure, nearly 7 . Phoenix, seattle and san diego led the way. Houses in the San Francisco metropolitan statistical area rose 6 for that year. Notice i didnt say the San Francisco bay area. Caseshiller defines it the way the American Census does. Mostly upper 40s and low 50s for most of the rest of the bay area. If youre going to be heading out to the park today getting some sunshine and enjoying the time with the kids out of school, in walnut creek well start out with upper 40s but youll need the jacket throughout the day even when the sun breaks out and well see our temperatures getting milder into the afternoon reaching into the low 60s. Along the coastline we are going to see some mostly cloudy skies early this morning. Then sunshine the rest of the bay. Well reach into the upper 50s here. A headsup, a High Surf Advisory in effect for all of the coastline and we could have some pretty big breakers today. Good for the surfers but for regular people its going to be very dangerous to be near the coastline today. We could see some breakers up to 24 feet today and coming in every 17 to 19 seconds so watch out for that. A lot of our northwest facing beaches will have the highest waves. And thats all because were going to see the winds picking up today. At times our winds gusting up to 25 Miles Per Hour along the coastline in San Francisco. Tomorrow its going to be even windier, so when you factor in the fact well only make it into the 60s and those winds will at times gust up to 30 Miles Per Hour, going to make it feel a lot cooler. If youre planning on having thanksgiving outside youll want to hold on to that tablecloth because well have gusty winds.
