Both of the districts are tasks with completing a very complex plan that would ensure both the safety of their students and of their teachers and this morning were learning what those district plans could look like specifically San Francisco unified. Those plans need to be completed no later than december 8th. According to the examiner the district has until the 8th to release a plan that includes a start date for all elementary students. The plan so far includes a specific start date of january 25th. For some students with disabilities as well as students in first grade or younger. They have until january to create a plan for middle and high school students. The district has a lot to keep in mind as you can imagine in creating this plan including how to incorporate social distancing and have proper ventilation. The examiner revealed a reopening could cost as much as 84 million for the district. Sf unified is expected to release details of their progress of that plan at the next Board Meeting which is a week from today. And while the citys district works to create a plan, School Leaders in palo alto have revealed their plan and if approved by the board the proposed hybrid model is expected to begin as early as january 7th. Under the new plan the second half of the school year will look completely different than anything we have seen in years passed. They will have to enter due to specific times. There wont be lockers and students will be expected to use assigned seats and in terms of School Lunches that will be grab and go style. Again, nothing is completely finalized right now. Both districts have to have their plans approved by the board so come january its a possibility that thousands of students here in the bay area could be entering yet another new normal as the nation works to get hold of covid19.
