Pfizer has been working on a vaccine that early results revealed it could be a 90 effective at preventing covid19 puts the company on track to apply for emergency use approval from the fda. In that address this morning, to the nation, president elect biden shared optimism and caution and the findings are promising the nation needs to do its part and protecting others until the vaccine is available. It didnt take long to go from very low levels right up to that surge. We then took action here and across the state and our case counts came down, although you can see it took a long time. It was a slow drift down. The baseline that we achieved collectively which was here, by the beginning of october, at least we were down to double digits from triple digits as far as average number of cases per day. Then you can see over october, we began to drift up. And we have been tracking that drift up. We have been talking about that drift up. But what happened in the last week, it is no longer a drift. We are going to see more frosty mornings and cool afternoon. Its clear now. The rain moved out that we had over the weekend but we are tracking more rain moving in late sunday. In fact, early this morning, we had numerous low temperature records set and as we take a look at concord and set a new record there. Dipping down to 34 degrees. The record was 36. These are longstanding records. We are looking at more chilly temperatures as well with san jose tying that old record and we have another really cold night ahead. We have now new freeze warnings going up for the north bay that starts at 3 00 a. M. So we are going to see some of these spots dipping down into the mid20s we will talk more about this and ill let you know if there is a warmup in the forecast coming up later. Firefighters still at the scene of this fire in the east bay we saw this morning. Really just burning since last night. Bob redell has been there throughout the night. Youre not seeing that smoke coming up from the fire that was burning at those pallets of cardboard boxes behind the paper facility in san leandro. With the daylight you can get a sense of just how many cardboard boxes burned. Looked like quite a few acres of boxes. They had a bulldozer out here earlier to spread them out and dissipate them so they could help put out that fire. The fire started during the 11 00 hour last night. This facility if youre not familiar is southeast of the marin a boulevard exit off of 880 in san leandro. I reached out to the

and they dont know what caused this fire yet and still investigating. You can see from the flames in this video they provided it did take off. They actually had to call for a second alarm and cardboard is flammable. These are the type of boxes, brandnew boxes that they use for packing fruits and vegetables according to georgia pacific. Nearly 60 schools have submitted requests to open and if cleared its up to the schools to decide what date they will reopen classrooms to students. in san francisco. Notice the high clouds moving by. Those so high up in the atmosphere theycrystals. We had weather this morning that made ice crystals near the ground. We are starting to recover with our temperatures mostly in the 50s. We are still in the 40s in the south bay. San jose slowly warming up there as well as morgan hills and we see mid50s and heading into the upper 50s for today. Some of our interior valleys will reach up to 61 like antioch as well as san jose and santa rosa a high of 68 and 68 in san francisco. Half moon bay mid50s today. Getting sunshine. No fog there. As we go into the end of the week, we are going to see a couple of more storm systems coming in starting late on thursday into friday. A stronger storm system arriving between friday night and saturday. This one looks to bring us a pretty decent shot of some rain, more widespread but some of the heaviest rain. Looks like it will be in the north bay and then we are seeing more rain chances even behind that as we go into next week. I wanted to show you the early view of what one of the computer models is showing in terms of how much rain we are going to see. And it has been plotting up to close to an inch of rain for parts of the north bay. Maybe even a little bit more before the weekend is done. Then you head south of the

and see half an inch of rain in a lot of spots. Here is north star. Great to see them not only making snow but getting help from mother nature. We have had some
Cool Temperatures
as we look at how much snow we may see as we go into the rest of the week. This model is showing the potential of getting at least a foot of snow, especially in those upper elevations so that is also really great to see now that we are in a severe to extreme drought across northern california. What are some of the outlooks are showing for the next two weeks, they are putting the potential for above average rainfall for the bay area. We could also see some below average temperatures. There is no chance that we are going to see a big warmup here as we go into the next couple of weeks so the cool weather we are feeling now, we better get used to it because even in our weekday forecast where we can get accurate numbers here, we are only going to see our temperatures reaching in the low to mid60s the next few days. We have an even colder night ahead of our interior valleys dipping down below freezing. Most of our inland areas will be close to 40 degrees and we will be watching that rain for the weekend for san francisco, we are looking at temperatures that will be mostly in the 50s. As we go into the end of the week, we are going to see a couple of more storm systems coming in starting late on thursday into friday. A stronger storm system arriving between friday night and saturday. This one looks to bring us a pretty decent shot of some rain, more widespread but some of the heaviest rain. Looks like it will be in the north bay and then we are seeing more rain chances even behind that as we go into next week. I wanted to show you the early view of what one of the computer models is showing in terms of how much rain we are going to see. And it has been plotting up to close to an inch of rain for parts of the north bay. Maybe even a little bit more before the weekend is done. Then you head south of the

This model is showing the potential of getting at least a foot of snow, especially in those upper elevations so that is also really great to see now that we are in a severe to extreme drought across northern california. What are some of the outlooks are showing for the next two weeks, they are putting the potential for above average rainfall for the bay area. We could also see some below average temperatures. There is no chance that we are going to see a big warmup here as we go into the next couple of weeks so the cool weather we are feeling now, we better get used to it because even in our weekday forecast where we can get accurate numbers here, we are only going to see our temperatures reaching in the low to mid60s the next few days. We have an even colder night ahead of our interior valleys dipping down below freezing. Most of our inland areas will be close to 40 degrees and we will be watching that rain for the weekend for san francisco, we are looking at temperatures that will be mostly in the 50s.
