Today in the bays Cierra Johnson<\/a> is live to provide a time line when some of these people can expect their power to be restored. Reporter yes, good morning. The good news about this round of psps it was not nearly as widespread as pg e initially thought. So the good news as you mentioned some folks already back online. It was not 53,000 as pg e originally estimated. So far 10,000 customers have their power back leaving 30,000 customers still without power based on the outage map i just checked with pg e. They are concentrated in san mateo and napa counties. Folks anticipating that power being restored while pg e is keeping a close eye on the weather specifically as we mentioned since wednesday the wind. That is going to be a big factor on when they decide to restore the power. Take a listen to a spokesperson. By 10 00 a. M. We should see the wind on the decrease. We will begin to issue a weather all clear. Reporter it is a waiting game. Weve been in contact with pg e and they said they would not have any specific numbers until their crews are able to check the lines. Governor newsom asked for 346 million in help. Emergency Services Says<\/a> it has been turned down for a major president ial disaster declaration. This is in connection with the creek fire in fresno and five other counties. California officials will appeal the decision. The decision does not affect aid for the wildfires in the bay area. Were in voting season and more than 3 million americans voted just yesterday bringing the National Total<\/a> to nearly 20 million. California voters are coming out in droves. Californias secretary of state said last year only 150,000 californians had returned their ballots by mail or to dropoff ballot boxes like this one. So far this year 2,138,192 californians have already returned their ballots. Thats the latest numbers as of wednesday. That is 10, 15 times the number four years ago. You can see just over half a million returned in the bay area. Contra costa county so far has the highest rate of returning. Santa clara county the lowest. Republicans and democrats are voting early for two reasons. One President Trump<\/a> has warned about potential voter fraud though there is no evidence there is widespread voter fraud and, two, concerns about voter suppression. Arnold schwarzenegger is slamming his own party in the state of california, the gop, for setting up unofficial drop boxes to collect ballots from voters to return to county election offices. The state says those boxes are illegal and have ordered the state gop to remove them.
