Secretary of state, the former Vice President joe biden, Kamala Harris all reporting negative results. But utah senator mike lee and the president of notre dame both who met with the new candidate, the new nominee for court, have tested positive. The other important update for you, chris, is the white house is now saying the president is experiencing minor symptoms. Thats very different than earlier reports that said he was asymptomatic. We will be watching for any change in the language the white house is using to describe the president. Youre seeing video of him in minnesota wednesday where he was accompanied by hope hicks, who was first reporting her own symptoms. Here is the president on fox news last night hours before he was diagnosed. You know, i spent a lot of time with so does the first lady. Shes tremendous. I was a little surprised but she is a very warm person. She has a hard time when soldiers and Law Enforcement comes up to her, she wants to treat them great, not say stay away, i cant get near you. Its a very, very tough disease. On your screen right now is a list that nbc has compiled of people we have seen with hope hicks in the last few days. She travelled on air force one with the president and was not wearing a mask. Again, some on the list already assuring us they have tested negative. Now, while we do wish the president a very speedy recovery, we do have to talk about practical matters. That involves mike pence. The constitution does have structures in place should the president fall very, very ill. The twentyfifth amendment, which we have talked about in a different context at other times allows the president to voluntarily hand over power of the presidency to the Vice President. Its been used before. President george w. Bush handed power to dick cheney twice as he underwent medical procedures. And anyone of a certain age can remember his father george h. W. Bush taking temporary control after president Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinckley back in 1981. Vice president george w. Bush assumed the power of presidency while reagan was in surgery. World leaders have had and recovered from covid19 in the past. Brazilian president bolsonaro and british Prime Minister johnson came down with it. Johnson was very seriously ill, was hospitalized and said himself it couldve gone either way. President trump is significantly older than johnson. Johnson is 56. Trump is nearly 20 years older. So well wishes are pouring in from around the world and around washington. Heres speaker of the house nancy pelosi. Of course as with everyone, we all receive that news with great sadness. I always pray for the president s family that theyre safe. And i know that hell have the best of care. And thats what we want for everyone in our country. You cant really caulk about the president having covid19 without addressing the fact that he has routinely dismissed the dangers of coronavirus. Yesterday a cornell study said he was the biggest Single Source of misinformation about coronavirus in the entire world. Even speaker pelosi, who is a pious catholic says the president has made fun of pelosis claims of prayer. The president s made fun of joe biden for wearing a mask. Youre going to see that in a minute. The president four years ago today exactly four years ago today almost down to the hour october 2nd, 2016, made fun of Hillary Clinton falling ill from pneumonia on the campaign trail. She cant make it 15 feet to her car. Give me a break. [ cheers and applause ] give me a break. Shes home resting right now. Masks when needed i wear masks. Let me ask i dont wear masks like him. Every time you see him he wears masks. He could be speaking 200 feet away and he shows one the biggest ma biggest mask ive ever seen. All Campaign Events for the Trump Campaign will be moved or canceled for the next 14 days. The next debate is 13 days away, and the president s isolation is 14 days. All right, scott, thank you so very much for that very comprehensive update. A San Francisco woman who was guest of joe biden during the debate says shes terrified of being exposed to covid19. Her father died of covid19 and she says President Trump didnt do enough to contain the virus. She criticized him and his family for refusing to wear masks as they sat nearby her in the auditorium during the debate. The debate rules said they were supposed to be Wearing Masks and they didnt. And potentially they could have exposed everyone to covid19. But what we are seeing clearly today is his complete disregard for human life. Lets turn to our other breaking news, the wildfires burning in wine country. The glass fire has now burned more than says it is just 6 contained. Napa and Sonoma County have burned down so far. Many, many more are threatened. Cal fire says 28,000 homes are at risk. Fire officials are giving an update on the glass fire right now from santa rosa. Lets listen in live. One of the positive things is it has opened up a greater window for us to fly and fly aircraft. It gives us a great opportunity to slow the fires advance and take care of that issue. In the Sonoma County area unfortunately the weather conditions and the visibility is such that we cannot fly any aircraft safely. Funer fortunately we havent had much of a need. Its in the air that we dont have but where we do have the greatest need we are flying aircraft in the small windows of opportunity the best we can. Weve been listening to a live news briefing on the glass fire. The little bit of information we were able to glean there is with the vital air support, the aircraft in the air. Its a mixed bag today it. Sounds like theyve got progress in napa county where they are able to put aircraft in the air to drop retardant however the conditions are not favorable for Sonoma County. Lets turn to kari hall, the weather is so vitally important in fighting these fires. Kari, how is it looking for firefighters . Well, as of now, we are seeing some more favorable weather conditions. But weve seen our winds that will start to pick up as we go into later this afternoon. Looking at all the smoke in the upper levels of the atmosphere, this shows what it looks like as that smoke has just lingered here for the past 24 hours. And we know how bad that air quality is. What you were looking at during that press conference was an outline of the burn zone. We are also going to see the 60,000 acr sonoma counties unfortunately continue to spread as they have very little containment. As we look at the weather conditions here, its 70 degrees we have a very light wind. And weve seen some higher humidity. So while its still cool, we are looking at some good conditions. But you can see just how much of that landscape has burned within that perimeter. And we are seeing a lot of that smoke moving into and across the bay area. Its just being pushed down and will not mix out because we havent had much of a wind today. And the direction of that wind brings it straight into the bay area. So its very unhealthy especially in the north bay. The rest of the bay area will also need to limit time to see improvement this weekend. Ill talk about that temperatures as well as what were expecting heading into next week. Thats coming up in the full micro climate forecast. Lets change gears here. The niners play at home in prime time this weekend while there will be no fans lining up for the famed food at levi stadium, the chefs are taking their fare on the road feeding essential workers. Lets go to nbc bay areas kris sanchez. Shes live from milpitas with a twist on the sunday night football recipe. What are the ingredients this year, kris . [ laughter ] reporter well, the ingredients are essential workers, kris. The sunday night football fan bus has been replaced with the snf grill. And its here in milpitas at the Humane Society. Theyre going to serve up food for about 150 workers. Its the same kind of food that you would get at the stadium. But you know that that does not mean a measly stadium hot dog. The chefs are putting together all kinds of delicious food. Heirloom salad, dungeness crab salad. Some of the ingredients were grown on the faithful farm, thats the farm thats on the ninth floor of levi stadium. This is something we had planned for the season to grow some great vegetables and include them in our menu plan. Its great to have an outlet to be here popping up at the Humane Society in silicon valley. The teams been working very hard during covid and with the fires helping animals and people. Its such a treat. Reporter all right. The Humane Society workers are having lunch here today. Theyre being recognized. But in the last few days the snf grill fed Grocery Store health s ties. The head coach Kyle Shanahan wants garoppolo to show that hes healthy enough to stay safe against the eagles defense. George kittle though is back in play. He said hes excited to play in prime time at home and he feels like the fans will be there even if theyre only there in spirit. The snf grill is just one more way that this season is different for footballlovers. Maybe this is the siller lining that can stick with us as things hopefully go back to normal for soon maybe in time fort next football season. It smells fantastic out here. If theyre going to feet about 150 folks here and its just so nice that its the essential workers are getting that tip of the hat. And coach shanahan is chewing on it. Nicely done, kris. Yeah. And all three men have repeatedly downplayed the virus. Johnson ignored social distancing warnings almost as a matter of pride. Then, he contracted covid. Initially, johnson continued to work in isolation making a rare appearance looking dechevelled and week. Until he was transferred to an icu, severely ill. Doctors said it was touch and go. His deputy had to step in until johnson recovered. Obviously i think we all want to send our best wishes to the president and the first lady. Ive done that this morning as you can imagine. And im sure that they will both stage a very strong recovery. Reporter other International Reaction was more barbed. The official china daily wrote the positive test is yet another reminder that the coronavirus continues to spread, even as trump has tried desperately to suggest it no longer poses a danger. The french government spokesman said this demonstrates that the virus spares no one, including those who have shown skepticism. Like president bolsonaro of brazil. He called covid a little flu and also flouted precautions saying closing the economy did more harm than the pandemic. Canadas Justin Trudeaus wife also tested positive for covid. They both went into isolation. She soon recovered. And this morning Russias Vladimir Putin lives in one of the worlds most isolated and protected covid bubbles wished President Trump well in a telegram according to russian state media. I am certain your inherent vitality, good spirits, and optimism will help you cope with this dangerous virus, the telegram reportedly said. Johnson who doctors say nearly died from covid19, did initia bump in his popularity, although that has faded as europe appears to be going through a second wave. Bolsonaro, it had very little impact on his standing. Richard engel, nbc news, london. A developing story here at home, the grand jury recording of kentuckys investigation into the Breonna Taylor case released today. The states attorney general presented its case over several days to the grand jury which last week handed out an indictment on the case. The firstdegree wanton endangerment charges for former detective Brett Hankison who fired ten rounds from outside her apartment. No one was charged directly in taylors death. The other officers who fired their weapons during the march 13th narcotics raid were cleared of wrongdoing. Toll suppreexpress lanes win today. They must have fast track so they can pay the mandatory fees. Carpoolers of three or more can ride for free but only if you have a fast track flex tag with that little button right there. The weekend is upon us. Lets turn to kari for a look at the weather. Hows it looking, kari . Well, i think well want to try to stay inside this weekend, kris. Its going to be hot as well as smokey. Were not going to see much in the way of improvements in our air quality. We can barely see anything as we look out in san jose. Usually we can at least see our hills in the distance. The sevenday forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen as we talk about how many acres have burned this year. Weve set so many records, so many bad records. So we look at the size of the august complex, and it is by far the largest fire weve ever seen. This posted by cal fire. And then also the top six fires as far as how large they were have all been burning this year. So, its really hard to see that all those records that have been falling in some of the top 20 wildfires have all happened in the past 20 years. Well, lets take a look at our temperatures for today as we reach into the mid90s. Still that high fire danger that continues, and of course we know we havent made it all the way through wildfire season. So there is still that high risk today with those hot temperatures reaching up to 98 degrees in livermore, 99 in concord. And for the north bay were looking at highs that will reach into the mid90s. And our wind, thats the other issue. The red flag warning has been extended through tomorrow morning as we go through the day we still have this nosily wind that will pick up to about 15 to 20 miles per hour. There may be even some higher gusts. Some of those gusts remain higher as you go up in elevation. And then as we go into tonight the winds will gradually start to calm back down. Hopefully the humidity will come up just a little bit. But it is looking very dry. And then for tomorrow still pretty smokey because were not seeing a change in the wind direction. But the winds wont be as strong. So, as we look at our fiveday forecast for the air quality, were looking pretty bad for the next few days. That was the reason why the bay area air Quality Management district extended that spare the air alert through tuesday at least. Then well see if it gets extended beyond that. And then also were looking at whats happening in the atmosphere, what could change our weather patterns, our air quality. Were seeing this large storm system moving through the gulf of alaska and approaching canada. As we go into next week, well be watching whats now hurricane marie. This will continue to weaken and may get drawn into a weather system that could possibly bring the bay area some rain next weekend. We are so looking forward to that and hopefully it pans out. We are looking forward to some beneficial rain, not this weekend but possibly beyond the sevenday forecast. So thats something well have to watch out for because its going to be so hot and dry this weekend. And even though our temperatures come down, were still above normal. We are going to see some cooling possible by next thursday while San Francisco will start to get that cooling by the end of the weekend. Once that fog returns, well come back to the 60s in the forecast and stay there into early next week. So a lot to monitor here in the forecast, kris. Coming up, some of the bay areas biggest Tourist Attractions are back open. Well shows you where you can take your kids for a taste of halloween and maybe a little bit of scaring. But first happening now, Carnival Cruise ships will be staying in port. The company says its canceling most of its 2020 u. S. Cruises. Carnival says its canceling cruises from every port except its home port of miami and Vice President<\/a> joe biden, Kamala Harris<\/a> all reporting negative results.
