We got a lot to go over. Reporter he did just that in 2000, leaving his job as a tech executive to become a high schoolteacher himself. But roberts giving back was just getting started. One moment that changed his life and then now changed so many. Well, were going to go outside right now. Live look at san rafael. You can see still no relief from the smoke. Our bad air has now set a dubious record. Today, its the 15th day in a row weve been under a spare the air alert. That breaks the previous record of 14 days set during the camp fire in buick county which ravaged the town of paradise back in 2018. All right. Lets bring in chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. I actually googled on the cdc the effects of this because ive had a headache for, like, four days straight. They say bad air quality can give you headaches and scratchy throat. Yeah, it just kind of all gets into your respiratory system, and im right there with you with the headaches. Its kind of like this off and on situation. A little bit of good news, though, as we move through tomorrow. We could get the lower atmosphere stirred up just enough that well see some improvement. Some slight improves that i think could make a difference for some of us. Lets get a look right now. Split picture. If youre in San Francisco, you have the fog and the relatively cleaner air. And then down in the south bay, thats all the smoke and the haze thats lingering right now. 71 in san jose. And a cool 64 in San Francisco. So lets bring it to those changes we could see. We dont often show this very much. Its some raw computer model data. So take a close look, focus in on the red zones. That is the most unhealthy smoke levels. And you can see at 6 30 tomorrow morning, heres the time bar at the top, again, focussing on the red to orange colors, thats unhealthy. , it lingers over the trivalley down here through the south bay. Notice the east bay, the peninsula, parts of vallejo and the north bay, we likely will see some of that smoke scoured out. Due to the fog. Then as we roll through tomorrow afternoon, well at this point, based on the current data, have a little bit more of a break in the north bay for parts of the east bay and the peninsula as well. Meanwhile, the trivalley and the south bay will be holding on to some of that smoke. So some minor changes that i think will make it just a touch better. Well stay unhealthy in the north bay and the south bay, but notice the bay, coast and for the east bay will be moderate, and for the santa clara valley, well also be in the moderate ranges. So some slight changes here that might make it good enough for some of you to be able to at least get outside for a little bit longer. As we move into tomorrow mornings forecast, i have you down to 5 in the trivalley, 59 in the peninsula, south bay at 58. I really think that best chance of fog in the morning would be right here over the east bay, San Francisco and the north bay which, again, would give us some improved air quality, at least to start the day. Now, as we roll through tomorrow, notice that sunset, 7 35 in the afternoon. So that sunsets getting earlier and earlier as we continue to head closer to fall. Just a sign of the times here. You see down in the south bay, well be at 80 degrees, 87 in morgan hill. So not too hot for tomorrow. Close to the bay, 74 in hayward. Over to concord, 86. 78 in redwood city. San francisco stays in the 60s tomorrow with 63 in the embarcadero. And for the north bay, 79 in napa and 72 in novato. Not too hot tomorrow, but lets advance things. You can see excessive heat watch this weekend. That hot area of High Pressure is going to produce a heat watch for basically the entire state. So what is this going to mean for us . San francisco, 78 on sunday. 76 on labor day on monday. For the inland valleys going to a very hot 97 send. Extreme heat on sunday, 103 and 100 on monday for labor day. Fire danger is going to increase. Last thing we need right now. Still no word yet, but maybe more Power Outages due to the stress on the grid. We saw that the last time. Hopefully we dont have that, but this is going to be a threeday event for us, so wish it wasnt there, but we got to deal with it. Yeah, that sunday looks dangerous. All right, thank you, jeff.
