The new cdc alert just issued from coasttocoast on mystery illness in children. Cases now spreading to 19 states. Were working as hard as we can to find the answers to this. Just ahead the signs and symptoms doctors and parents need to look out for. Eyeopener. Expert dr. Joseph fair, who believes he contracted covid through his eyes is revealing about how the virus is transmitted. The reality is should everyone be wearing goggles . The new warning that much celebrated Rapid Testing at hospitals and the white house is delivering inaccurate results. Wet weekend. Storms spread heavy rain and potential flooding from texas all the way to maine. Down south the coastline will begin to experience what could become the first named storm of the hurricane season. Al has got the very latest. All that plus moving picture. Keith urban turns a drivein Movie Theater in tennessee into a oneofakind stage show for Health Care Workers. God bless Health Care Workers. Hell tell us how he pulled it off today friday, may 15th, 2020. Announcer from nbc news, this is today with Savannah Guthrie and hoda kotb from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. Good morning, everybody. Welcome to today. It is friday morning. Nice to have you with us. Hoda has a much deserved day off so craig, good morning to you, early, this morning. Good to see you, sg. Keith urban, that concert he threw for Health Care Workers at the drivein, he may have given us a bit of a glimpse into what live music will look like in the future. Were looking forward to catching up with keith. Hes got a new album dropping as well. Well get to that in a few minutes. The drivein theater was the perfect spot for him. Lets get to the headlines as we start friday morning. Overnight new yorks stayathome order was extended until at least june 13th. Several regions in central and upstate new york that met certain guidelines are allowed to begin a fazed reopening today. Meanwhile cdc released new guidelines for reopening parts of the economy including schools, mass transit systems, and summer camps. Today the house is set to vote on a new 3 trillion release bill. This bill would include a second round of stimulus checks for many americans. President trump has already said the bill is dead on arrival. As we begin this morning cases of coronavirus of approaching 1. 5 million and deaths nearly 87,000. Gabe gutierrez in syracuse, new york, one of the cities getting back to business this morning. Gabe, as i understand it, a little unexpectedly. Reporter thats right, savannah. Were about a fourhour drive from the epicenter. Today is the day businesses have been waiting for, construction and manufacturing opening with Retail Business with curbside pickup. In make cases around the country, the battle over reopening is leaving more questions than answers. This morning across wisconsin confusion. More businesses are reopening amid a patchwork of local Health Restriction after the state Supreme Court overturned the governors stayathome order. Everything is too political. People should just use good judgment. I think we all have to be careful but being careful doesnt necessarily mean being locked up. The governors warning the rush to reopening could lead to death. More people could get sick and overwhelm our hospitals but not if we stay the course and stay home. Clearly not everyone is staying home. Some bars ant restaurants are packed. After my employees havent been paid in two months, i had to look out for them and my families and i had to look out for pi business. The cdc is releasing previously delayed guidelines for workplaces nationwide on how and when to safely reopen. Some of the recommendations promote healthy hygiene practices, intensify cleaning, disinfection and ventilation and check for signs and symptoms of employees daily upon arrival. At least five states are expected to start a limited reopening today, including parts of new york. 54 days after its stayathome order first went into effect. Were happy to be able to be open in some semblance. The governor warned this doesnt mean its over. Phased reopening does not mean the problem has gone away. It means we have controlled the problem because of what we did. In South Carolina one restaurant is getting creative using mannequins in some seats to promote social distancing. While Church Leaders impose strict restrictions on indoor gatherings. In michigan protesters are gathering outside the state capital again, bashing that states stayathome order. At this point the solution is starting to hurt people. Thats not a solution anymore. Here in syracuse, new york, the partial reopening was announced. All come amid an alarming new study about the spread of coronavirus. Researchers say talking loudly for just one minute can leave thousands of droplets into the air that can linger for up to 14 minutes. Now to the stark warning delivered to congress by a vaccine expert turned whistleblower who says the governments response to the pandemic must change or our worse days could be ahead. Nbcs White House Correspondent Peter Alexander has more on that. Peter, good morning to you. Good morning to you. Youre right. President trump scheduled to deliver remarks on the race to develop a vaccine even as that top government scientist is casting doubt on the president s time line for a vaccine to be available. Dr. Rick bright testifying that his warnings about supply shortages were repeatedly ignored and saying if proper steps are not taken, now the pandemic will only get worse. A dire warning from one of the countrys top vaccine officials. If we fail to improve our response now based on science, i fear the pandemic will get worse and be prolonged. Dr. Rick bright testifying thursday that time is running out to contain the coronavirus. Without better planning, 2020 could be the darkest winter in modern history. He was forced out as head of the agency developing vaccine for covid19 Technology Lawmakers he raised red flags about the pandemic months ago accusing President Trump and senior opfficials at the department of health of minimizing the outbreak in january and february. Best advice not conveyed. Bright also said the administration brushed off early warnings from the top manufacturer of medical masks. Ill never forget the emails i received indicating mask supplier, n95 mask supplier was completely decimated. He said were in deep [ bleep ]. President trump repeatedly predicted a vaccine could be ready by the end of this year, a time line bright disputes. I still think 12 to 18 months is an aggressive schedule, and i think its going to take longer than that to do so. As bright was testifying, th notably did not wear a mask while others did. On that topic in a new interview ivanka trump responding to criticism he received for not weighing a mask in public. Telling usa today i always wear a mask when im with the president and everyone is instructed to do so as well suggesting thats one of the reasons the president does not wear one. Ivanka trump today is touting a new Food Distribution program to get meat and produce from farmers and ranchers to those in need. Back to dr. Brights testimony. Bright warning even when a vaccine is ready, the federal government does not have a plan to distribute it. He says the Administration Needs to form a strategy now to make sure a vaccine can be fairly administered to tens of millions of americans. Craig and savannah. All right. Peter, thank you very much. Now to that new health alert that was issued by the cdc about the mystery illness in children believed to be linked to the coronavirus. That advisory went to doctors nationwide to help them identify its signs and symptoms. Nbcs Kristen Dahlgren has been following this story closely all week. Kristen, good morning. Good morning, savannah. So this morning doctors across the country should have this alert in hand. Its important not just so they can identify this but also so that they can track it and begin to better understand this illness. This morning the cdc giving doctors a critical checklist. Specific criteria for a syndrome identified in a growing number of children over the last several weeks. Fever, inflammation, at least two organs impacted and a positive test for covid19, antibodies or covid exposure four weeks before the onset of symptoms, symptoms which are described as similar to kawasaki disease which includes rash, red eyes or tongue and abdominal pain. Its rare but potentially deadly. Three children ages five, seven and 18 have died. Cdc said its not clear if adults can have the same overactive inflammatory response weeks after a covid infection. But over 135 cases in children have now been reported over at least 19 states in washington, d. C. The vast majority in new york where coronavirus cases peaked about six weeks ago. Dr. Jeffrey burns has been studying the syndrome with more than 1,000 doctors. We havent yet been able to establish what the direct link is. He says we can expect to see multisystem inflammatory syndrome four to six weeks after coronavirus spikes in a given community. Its not like covid19, the children are not actively infected with the virus. Thats not what we believe this is. Its not like covid19 in the sense that were still waiting treatment to study. 4yearold amelia tested negative for covid twice. But when she was rushed to the hospital in severe pain, she finally tested positive for covid antibodies. We all have them, too, my 3yearold, myself and my husband. Amelia ended up on a ventilator but responded well to treatment. We have treatment to give children with inflammatory symptoms if they develop this life threatening complications. After 16 days in the hospital, yesterday amelia got to go home. Amelia will be home for her fifth birthday this week so she has a lot to celebrate. The takeaway for parents is this is not subtle. You will know something is wrong with your child. If you see those symptoms, you need to get help subpoenas possible. Kristen dahlgren and happy birthday to amelia as well. Kristen, thank you. We have some encouraging news on the race for a vaccine. Theres an experimental treatment being tested by scientists at Oxford University showing new progress. Keir simmons in london with that part of the story. Keir, good morning. Hey, craig, good morning. A stunning warning from an executive at the Health Organization is reverberating warning the coronavirus may never go away. Thats why this positive news from this vaccine team here in the uk whilst another small step, is a big deal. This morning fresh hope for a vaccine breakthrough. A single dose given to six rhesus macaque monkeys, close to humans, were said to have antibodies 14 days after the lab that carried out the trial releasing this new report saying after the test, the vaccine appeared to have prevented pneumonia and other lung problems associated with coronavirus. And the report says no sign of dangerous side effects, no evidence of immune and heart disease. Now scientists from Oxford University say the early indications from human trials could come in june. Hundreds of people have already been injected with a possible vaccine. Im doing the tiniest little bit i can. The scientist behind the research telling us they are able to move fast because their vaccine has been in development for decades. The vaccine updated for todays coronavirus. Were using a vaccine type that has been in thousands of people before. Reporter theres no itill u prove to be successful. Over 100 vaccines in development around the world. Already attention is turning to how to produce enough. How many doses of vaccine . We are aiming to make not millions, probably not tens of millions but ideally hundreds of millions of doses of this vaccine. President trump has repeatedly said he thinks we will have a vaccine by the end of the year despite reservations from some scientists on his coronavirus team. On thursday he went a step further talking time line and distribution. I think were going to have a vaccine by the end of the year. I think distribution will take place almost simultaneously because weve geared up the military. One issue that may delay the trial and it is fascinating, because of the lockdown in places like here in the uk, there is less coronavirus, savannah. So that means it takes longer, potentially, for people to become infected. Of course, you cannot simply deliberately infect people. All the same, savannah, they are planning to ramp up manufacturing of these vaccines even before the positive results just so they are ready, savannah. Yeah, absolutely. Good to get a little good news this morning. Keir, thank you. We have developments in the Ahmaud Arbery case in georgia to tell you about. Today the father and son charged with the murder are arguing theres more to the story than people know. Joining us with atlanta with the latest on this. Blayne, good morning. Reporter savannah, good morning to you. The two attorneys say they have spoken with their client and the prosecutor. They know the emotions around the case are very high. They wouldnt give details about the defense but promised more information would come out in court. This morning attorneys for Travis Mcmichael say they are learning more about what happened before and after the video. All of the facts will come out. Thats the purpose of a trial. Travis and his father are both in jail charged with murder. Father and son have separate legal teams. Attorneys for senior mcmichaels say the full story will tell the trust about this case. Video of that february shooting has sparked nationwide outrage. Arbery family said the 25yearold was just out for a jog unarmed. According to the police report, Gregory Mcmichael told police he and travis grabbed their guns and followed arbery because they thought he was a burglary suspect. Mcmichael told police travis fired when arbery violently attacktaed fighting over the shotgun. Travis has a presumption of innocence. That presumption of innocence follows him from now throughout the course of this trial until and unless a jury decides he is not innocent. We wish travis had reported that innocence on arbery without a trial, without having committed a crime. Now they want to find the person who wrote the unanimous anonymous handwritten note at the memorial. It reads, ahmaud, im so sorry. I should have stopped him. This is not a person who feels bad about what happened in general. This is a person who felt like they had some sort of foreknowledge about what was going on. Investigators say they know who wrote the note and that person is not connected to the investigation in any way and was just expressing their condolences. Today we will also hear from the attorney for Gregory Mcmichael in a separate news conference. Both legal teams say they hope to have their clients in court in three weeks where they will request they are released on bond. Savannah. Blayne alexander, thank you very much. 18 minutes after the hour, craig, well send it to you. All right, sg. This is something that should put a smile on your face. Theres some shoppers at a Grocery Store in nashville who got quite a welcome surprise this week. When it was time to check out, they found out someone had already covered their bill. The dashboard shows cases are stabilizing and no patients are on ventilators, but the countys Public Health officer says there are still people getting sick and their contagiousness is still high. We have no vaccine and no herd immunity. The Health Officer says if the county were to reopen now we would see a spike in hospitalizations and even deaths. Reporter reporter the fda issued an alert a test may not be as accurate as once thought. The point of care test by abbott labs might be delivering too many false negatives results to be considered effective. A small study found false negatives for almost 50 of certain samples. Jcpenney could be filing for bankruptcy as early as today 4 million deal with lenders that would allow the company to keep the Department Store chain is reportedly working out a 450 million deal with lenders that would allow the company to keep operating, savannah. Now to the latest on one of our own, dr. Joseph fair, the virus expert youve seen often on the show is now battling the coronavirus himself as a patient. We spoke to him from the hospital nbc senior coordinator kate snow with an update so many people were reacting to this and had a lot of questions, kate. Yeah. The good news is hes doing better than he was he was really scared when he had to go into the hospital on monday because he could barely take in air. Also what hes been through as a patient has some lessons for all of us. Today im almost normally breathing, and i can take the oxygen off and walk around a little bit. Reporter day by day its getting easier to breathe. It was two weeks ago after he flew home to new orleans after a year and a half on the road. He wore gloves and a mask but believes he caught coronavirus because his eyes were exposed. Its a personal decision but he wishes he had worn goggles on the crowded airplane. Should we all be wearing some kind of eye protection. In my opinion, yes. You know people call people like me fear mongers. The reality is were trying to keep people safe. Its recommended for Health Care Workers but not general public when he arrived at the er he asked them not to intubate. I would like to try the oxygen mask first and see if i respond and i did. Reporter the view some patients dont require ventilation because its more dangerous than necessary. Its not the same for everyone but thats what works for me. Reporter do you think youre proof for make people there are other options. I do think there are. They wont intubate you unless they absolutely have to. Reporter despite his symptoms joseph has tested negative for coronavirus four times. He said it could be because he waited to be tested and the virus might have cleared out or because diagnostic tests are not perfect. A review out this week from Johns Hopkins found on the first day of symptoms theres a nearly 40 chance of a false negative on diagnostic test false negative drops to 23 days later which the researchers say testing. If theres one lesson youve learned as a patient rather than a virologist, what is it first of all, be very thankful for your caregiver. Secondly, i know were all in a hurry to open up, and i get it, but take every single precaution you can. This is a real thing, its still here its going to be around for quite sometime. Today hes going to have a test where they are going to sedate him and swab the bottom of his lungs to look for infection and bacteria if he continues to improve hes hoping hell be released from the hospital sometime this weekend, as soon as sunday. We hope so. One of the things people were really struck by is the fact that he tested negative four times. Just this morning fda issued a new alert about possibile inaccuracies with the abbott diagnostic test, very common, even being used at the white house. What do you know about this. This the one called abbott id now. Its a diagnostic test President Trump you might remember touted in the rose garden it gives results in as little as four minutes its come under fire after studies show it produces so many abbott takes issue with those findings last night fda said patients from negative results from abbott test may need to be retested with a more sensitive test its still good for identifying positive cases. Appreciate it craig, over to you. Yes, we are, indeed, Savannah Guthrie. Nascar set to start its season plenty of fans are expected to be watching, just not from the stands sam brock joins us with more on that hey, sam, good to see you, buddy. Hey, guysevent this country seen in months. Good morning the southern 500 in darlington, South Carolina, is sunday. It is the first large scale sporting event this country has seen in months guys, you can bet other sports are going to be watching this very closely as they try to come back, too. Nascar returns full throttle in just over 48 hours after hitting the brakes for more than two months during the pandemic. The First Priority is to make sure we put on the safest event. But the roaring engines will fill an empty stadium with no fans allowed at the raceway. Reporter from the track 187 yards. Reporter to the green, pga has a Charity Tournament this weekend in florida the full tour is getting ready to tee off in june in ft. Worth, texas. Safety precautions include testing players and no handshakes on the course. Overnight baseball commissioner facing questions about testing. What are the parameters youre thinking about. We have developed extensive protocols, a key to those is frequent testing all of our players would be tested multiple times a week. Commissioner rob manfred remaining bullish on baseball by midsummer, although a deal with the Players Union could prove elusive. No, ive got to get my money. Im not playing unless i get mine. Blake snell of Tampa Bay Rays already saying he wont play for a reduced salary over a short season one of the options they are considering. Im sorry you think differently. The risk is way higher and the money is way lower why would i think about doing that reporter the nba has not made a decision on return to play or what form that would take as practice facilities open with tight restrictions. And the nfls schedule still shows a september 8th start date though details on testing remain sparse floridas governor recently rolling out the welcome mat. All professional sports are welcome here for practicing and for playing. Now, were not necessarily going to have fans. That will be the case when nascar returns to florida with 12 new races added through june, none with spectators. I think its great to be out there, back on television doing what we love to do. Reporter nascars returnhiso will feature all kinds of changes including infield area where fans are usually hanging out to create more space for the racing teams to spread out i talked with ryan newman. His return, no doubt, will bring lots of smiles to peoples faces. Guys, he told me hes been racing since 4 years old, not sure if hes talking gokarts or real cars but nothing will stop him. My first assignment in that infield in darlington, granddaddy of speedway sam brock, thank you joining us now on what the future of sports could look like mike tirico. Mike, always good to see you, buddy, thanks for joining us nascar and golf, mike, would seem to be sort of the natural first sports to start, individual sports, not team sports you can achieve a reasonable amount of social distancing. Not having fans in the stands, not having fans watch these golf matches, what do you think thats going to mean for the game itself. All i spoke to, craig, said it will feel a little bit different. You know what, i think we had a little trouble with mikes audio. You know what, well get tiricos audio fixed while we do that, why dont we check in with mr. Roker. Hes standing by with a look at the weekend forecast. My nemesis, mike tirico, taken off the air. You probably had something to do with it. I did the plug is just off camera. In the meantime when you try to fix tirico, let me show you whats happening i see you, tirico. Were talking about a weather whiplash this weekend. Okay so last saturday d. C. Was 52, same in washington, d. C. , also in pittsburgh, new york, boston, temperatures anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees below average look at this weekend pittsburgh, d. C. , new york, boston, all anywhere from 20 to almost 30 degrees above average. In fact, that northeast warmup stretches from boston all the way down to roanoke, norfolk, cincinnati and detroit we will start to see temperatures cool down a bit as we get into next week but still looking nice for the rest of the country today, tropical rain, low pressure develops and possibly becomes a tropical system. If it does, it will be named arthur strong storms in the midsection of the country all the way into the northeast later today. Good morning. Im meteorologist kari hall. We look outside in morgan hill. We are seeing some clouds over the south bay and the south county. Well see still some more sunshine for the afternoon as our high temperatures reach the mid70s. Enjoy today. Its going to be very blessant. Well be tracking some rain by the end of the weekend. By saturday were starting to see more clouds moving in and rain late in the evening. For the north bay on and off showers starting on sunday. And thats your latest weather. Craig, lets just reconnect mike and thats your latest weather. Craig, lets just reconnect mike tirico back to you. Thank you, al thanks for getting mike back on the air. Mr. Tirico, thanks for rejoining. Yeah, roker were talking about fans not being in the stands for nascar and these golf matches, what does that say to you thanks, al. I appreciate al doing that to me you know, craig, the athletes say, which is odd, in golf you want quiet and silence they say the atmosphere does provide adrenalin. Same with nascar drivers, seeing the fans in the stands as they are going by at least you know youre putting on a show for some folks its going to be a little bit of a different feel but thats what we have to get used to were not going to see fans in the stands in large numbers for several months this is the first of many adjustments as we return to sports. We also know the major sports are going to be looking at how golf and how nascar, how they managed to pull this off lets talk about hockey, lets talk about basketball. This season is also on pause it would seem as if with each passing day theres less likely of a chance were going to see either one of those sports return this season are we going to see hockey or basketball this season i think because theres going to be the opportunity to play indoors and play into the summer, they at least retain a chance to. The key is going to be at what point will it truncate the following season the decision has to be made after the testing and safety for the players and everybody involved is at what point do we finish last season or get ready for the start of next season it wont be the Economic Impact of doing both. Health the priority, then economics. Thats the reality both sports in a four to sixweek window, craig, to make a decision, do we keep going or bail on this season or next season they are both still positive they can. Speaking of testing, when the sports do return and they Start Testing athletes, what happens when theres that positive test . Are you quarantining that team if you quarantine a team, what does that mean for the schedule . How are they going to figure that out. That is what they are trying to figure out. Adam silver spoke with players about that if one positive test and they shut down the league, this probably isnt the way to go down this path they are trying to figure out if theres positive test in any of these sports, within whatever bubbles they can create, what does that do impact wise, how much of the team do we isolate. I spoke to a Team President about this same topic last night, and its a topic theyre constantly discussing. They havent figured out the answer to that question. Finding the answer may determine how quick we get back to sports. Youre hosting the event at 2 00 on nbc. Sunday tell me a little more about that. Great to see live golf. Thank you now to our ongoing series, the search for solutions against the coronavirus. This morning new hope for a new treatment, craig. Thats right, savannah. The First Nationwide study of convalescent plasma, transfusion of antibody rich blood of recovered patient to a sick one. Its concluded the therapy is safe nbc Senior Investigative correspondent Cynthia Mcfadden has some exclusive details for us this morning. Hey, cynthia. Good morning. Well, this is really exciting. There were some who believe convalescent plasma would just make sick patients sicker. Doctors say, no, thats not the result now, whether or not the treatment is effective is yet to be studied for one patient who had the therapy, she says theres no doubt in her mind it works claudia was not planning on getting sick. Im chief nursing officer for brooklyn. By march her hospital was packed with covid19 patients. The hours were long and responsibilities were great. Very acute patients requiring a lot of care. But claudia felt fine, until she didnt diagnosed with covid19, an xray showed she had pneumonia in both lungs. Her daughter drove her to mt. Sinai in manhattan. This is the most difficult part of it, looking at her and thinking to myself is this the last time im going to see her. After three rough days in the hospital, her grown son called. Mom, great news, they think you can have the plasma. I was like, do you think i should do that its like a transfusion, im not sure. Terrified she was going to be put on a ventilator she agreed. I really wasnt a nurse at that moment. I was really a frightened, sick patient who was worrying about surviving. Claudia was given two doses of convalescent plasma, the antibodyrich blood of somebody who recovered from covid19. It took four hours one of the leaders of mt. Sinais program said claudia was their twelfth patient. They have now transfused 350. And studied the first 39 prelimbary showin most people getting sicker and having complications later on in the disease. Dr. Michael joiner is one of the heads of the nationwide consortium which published positive safety results. How encouraged are you by this were very encouraged that the treatment was safe he says hes racing to study the effectiveness of the treatment. How soon will they have the results. As fast as we can our data mining, Analytics Team is looking at the data we have currently. While hard data is not available, claudia says theres no doubt in her mind about its power. Thirty hours after the transfusion. I remember taking that first deep breath. I felt like i had oxygen i felt like i won the lottery. It really sounds like almost a miracle. Exactly immediately i called my son and said to him, i think that plasma did it. Reporter so many doctors and patients all over the country have told us similar stories to claudias. You have to watch out for confirmation bias. Because we want it to work, we only report the cases that seem positive those official results from all of those patients they are studying nationally, the doctor tells us we should expect those within the next couple of months everyone, of course, is crossing their fingers about that thank you, craig. Cynthia, obviously claudia is convinced it worked for her. Do we know how many other people have received this treatment so far . Nationwide, as part of this massive study, over 10,000 patients have received the therapy in just the last five or six weeks. Think about that not only do they have to pick the right patients to give it to, they had to harvest the plasma from recovered patients in order to be able to make those transfusions and spin the blood so they had the antibodies and plasma right listen, its a Huge National effort dr. Joiner and others say without massive cooperation across the country, it just wouldnt be possible so on a friday morning, some really good news, one hurdle crossed. We will certainly take that Cynthia Mcfadden for us. Cynthia, thank you savannah. All right straight ahead, Something Else to make you smile. Were going to chat with country star keith urban he put on a special concert to honor frontline workers. Keith is up and at em hi, there. First well check your local news and weather 8 26. Thats what this is all about right now. They did an amazing job as an audience and i had a great time. It looks like so much fun how did you do it, though . I didnt see a band. I think you said it was kind of like glorified karaoke. Yeah. It was like my instaband. Weve been doing a few of these athome concerts with just me and my tracks guy. So we have tracks that we can play to. Its really like karaoke i sing, play guitar, and we can sort of do stuff on the fly. I have one other guy on the stage who had a guitar an a keyboard we can riff on a few things and i can always play solo little drum machine pedal on the floor so we can go at it for a good long while. I was going to say, your karaoke is a little different than me playing back in the day. I dont know about that. Tell me what youve been up to ive been listening to so much keith urban at home. Blue aint your color. Thats my favorite what has your family been up to . Getting to know our house weve been doing a lot of stuff, actually of course, ive been lucky to have this studio at the house ive been able to keep working on i have a new record coming out not til september, bu ive been able to keep working on stuff we started before all of this. Actually we have a video to our latest single which came out we shot the video the beginning of march so it was, i think, right down to the wire before all of the lockdown happened. Theres a little clip of it right there. Weve been lucky to be able to stay healthy and stay upbeat, be of service to others and keep being creative. You mentioned the new record. Its coming out in september the title of the record, the speed of now, part one which just seems so appropriate. I know, i guess you thought of it before all this happened. Yeah. Actually the title came in september, october of last year. It was really just weve been touring internationally, and we came home and im thinking, gosh, the world is going so fast right now. Just humans trying to keep up with technology and where is this all heading and barreling into oblivion. I thought where does this all end, wheres the end game. The title is about now, the present moment, flee of time, thats starting to go fast in april of this year, i thought, everything has changed. I was going to change it so many people around me said i think it takes on a whole new meaning. Its definitely taking on a whole new meaning now. I think definitely. Can we talk about your Instagram Post we saw a throwback picture of keith urban. I could have stopped there for 1,000 years if you hadnt told me it was you, keith, with long blonde hair. I thought it was jon bon jovi in the 80s. I wish. Thats amazing. What a mane. You look like a lion. Thank you for sharing that again with everybody, savannah appreciate that. The world needs that picture right now. I dont know why it took me so many years to get signed when i moved to nashville i cant understand it. Friday morning in this new world that were all back now, it is 8 47 on friday morning in this new world that were all living in, were all breaking habits but creating some new ones as well, and that includes exercise routines. Gyms closed. A lot of people turned to athome workouts including one Savannah Guthrie. Yes, thats right we are a nation of home bodies, but that doesnt mean we want to have a home body luckily its never been easier to find a variety of workouts and start a daily exercise habit. These days our homes are more than a place of comfort, its now where many of us work and work out bending, squatting, planking, and biking. They are realizing they can get a great, efficient workout right in their living room their garage, their basement all you need is open it up and go. Its increased sevenfold over the past months, a diverse audience they are catering to. We created kids workouts, senior workout because our grandparents are at home and obviously they need to keep moving. Lets do this tone it up also had to tweak their summer beach body workouts for the home body. We adjusted absolutely everything and all the workouts are truly about feeling strong and supported at home. Exercise app like tone it u heading to youtube. Hop into something comfy and lets get started. Adrian has seen views triple since mid march. If i can really just share one thing with any friend of mine, it would be just get on the mat each day or regularly and do something. Ive been unrolling my mat every day, too, on my own athome workout journey. It started back in january inspired by harry smiths 30day yoga challenge. I want to do it i want to try to do 30 days. Day one turned into 10, 10 to 30 the bridge pose i could only do before kids was suddenly strong again. The daily yoga didnt stop, a source of comfort during the pandemic, may 10th marks 100 straight days. Adrian, its so funny i feel like i know you for 100 days ive seen you every single day what started as a segment on the show turned into this whole change for me. I know. I think thats incredible, and i thank you so much for sharing your valuable time and energy and your practice with me, especially with your schedule. Thats so incredible. As with many athome workouts, its surprising the impact and connection virtual find your footing when youre ready, rise strong, warrior one. Sometimes you say find your so i really thought it would be fun to share it with more people and hope that it opens up something for them, especially because we are all hom footing and then do your pose. I think about find your footing all the time in lots of different contexts and lots of different ways so i really thought it would be fun to share it with more people and hope that it opens up something for them, especially because we are all home right now. Yes, lets do it. For the first time, i got to do a live class with adrian. So strange because i can talk back to you. A simple flow for folks at home starting with a tough move, laying on your back. The stress and tension of the day begins to show up in the body you can feel that fast by lying on the ground. No fancy yoga pretzel move to show you that. Working slowly to a standing position we stretched the hips and loosened the shoulders. Inhale deeply and exhale completely. And gave our wrists much needed love after all that computer time. Press forward, dropping down here. Eventually we move to downward dog before rolling up and wrapping up just 15 minutes later. All right one final breath and well exhale and close it out. Namaste. Namaste that was so fun. By the way, if you want to try that full yoga flow do it on instagram, only 15 minutes cant believe it, i namasted with it. Were so proud of you have you noticed mental benefits, by the way in oftentimes people who do yoga on a regular basis talks about how it helps clear the mind. Have you noticed that . Yeah, i do. I kind of the reason i was excited to share it with everybody, i dont even think of it as a workout sometimes, i just think about it as meditation with movement im not good at sitting still for meditation its a good way to take deep breaths. Its really good for those at home that need a little moment to reset. Yeah. That was great thank you. Again, very proud. Thank you now everybody in america can feel better about how they look in yoga pants, now that they have seen me in mine. Yeah.
