Reporter just within the past 60 seconds caltrans street sweeper has shown up on the northbound 101 side. You can seep the sweeper is starting to clean up some of the gravel you were talking about. In the foreground this is one of the vehicles, part of what was left of one of the vehicles, that was involved in this threecar accident. There was a sedan and two work trucks. Most of the sedan is gone, has been removed. These guys with the Wrecker Service are trying to remove the third vehicle. This happened around 1 45 this morning for reasons that are unknown someone abandoned this sedan in the middle lane, maybe there was a stall, maybe Something Else was going on, but as a result two work trucks traveling northbound on 101 end up colliding with the sedan. No one was in the sedan so no one was hurthere. The men and or women in the work truck were not injured. Theyre okay. The good thing is no one was hurt. As a result one of the trucks spilled a lot of gravel. That gravel not only on the northbound side but also on the southbound side. Thats the reason why you have both lanes shut down. Were waiting for a Public Information officer who come out and give us an estimated time of reopening. As you can see right there theres the street sweeper here right now starting to remove the gravel and i just talked to our photographer who is on the other side on the southbound side, and he said he sees a good twoinch layer of gravel on that side. My point is this could take some time even though the street sweepers are here. Youre dealing with a small substance thats pebbly, rock, and it could take time to sweep that up.
