We spoke with omar taylor senior at his home in pittsburgh. He is grieving the loss of his older son, 24yearold omar taylor who meant the world to him. He sent pictures of omar from a recent wedding he attended and older pictures of him in high school where he played high school. Worked hard at his job but focused on music. And he was killed in a deadly shooting at an airbnb rental in renda. He says his son who was building up his dj work was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Trying to wake up from a bad dream, and hoping my son will walk through the door, you know what i mean and just the thought of never being able to have a conversation with my firstborn kid is crushing to me. This kid has been with me, by my side, since he was a baby. Now, the Sheriffs Department announced last night that a fifth person has died, 19yearold, and family members say her smile could light up a room and families donated her organs to help others. Something that she was absolutely passionate about. Now, omars father works at a refinery and he says that he always stressed hard work and sports for his kids and there are stories about omar always being the one to go out of his way to help family members and from far away to make sure they could attend gatherings and have a good time and drive them home. He leaves behind a 3yearold daughter. Reporting live in pittsburgh, christie smith, nbc bay area news. Thank you very much. As a result of the deadly shooting in orinda, airbnb says it is banning party houses and thats not all. We have a look at the new changes. Reporter the announcement came directly from airbnbs ceo and head of community, brian chusski and he said starting today we are banning party houses and redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties and get rid of abusive hosts and guest conduct. Including conduct that leads to the terrible events we saw in orinda. He says the Company Based in San Francisco is also expanding manual screening of high risk reservations. Creating a dedicated party house Rapid Response team. And taking immediate action against violators, including removal. Ceo brian chusky also said what happened in orinda, was horrible adding i feel for the neighbors and families impacted by the tragedy and he tweeted we must do better and we will. This is unacceptable. He says he has formed a new team to speed up the development of these new safety initiatives. And the ceo says he hopes airbnb will implement most of the new Safety Measures within ten days. Marianne favro, nbc bay area news. To the other top story tonight, crews continue to make progress on the fire lines in sonoma county. Overnight, the fire did not grow, but containment did. It now sits at 72 . Those flames have charred more than 77,000 acres, and 372 structures are destroyed. 175 of them are peoples homes. Tonight, the power is back on for most people in the north bay but there is another problem. As cold weather moves in, some homes and businesses are without gas. Nbc bay areas roz plater joins us live from healdsburg for that part of the story. Reporter the restaurants in town are trying to find ways to be creative because people who cant cook at home are looking for a place to eat. And after a tough week, theyre looking for a place to come together. Theyre joining us tonight at the Hotel Healdsburg, there will be a jazz concert and the chef is grilling up burgers and all a benefit tonight for the redwood food bank. At the healdsburg bar and grill, they had to take the grill part seriously. This morning, rigging up a propanefueled flat top grill to serve customers because like much of downtown healdsburg, their gas is not back on yet. Trying to do what we can with what weve got. And not know when were going to get our kitchen back up and running again. So were trying to get food to people, to everybody who is hungry. And sara and her friends just got back home, still no gas, and no way to cook. So these burgers hit the spot. Ive been in San Francisco this past week, and tahoe, and ive had friends in ukiah, it is good to be back, back together. Nearby, the Hotel Healdsburg is hoping to be back up and fully running on sunday but for now, no heat and no hot water but a handful of guests were okay with that. We have rooms for those who have chosen to stay. And we also as far as cooking, in the restaurant, were not able to do that with the gas right now. And some residents are being allowed back into the burn areas, there is a new warning. Theyre being required to check in with an Environmental Health officer, and warned not to do any cleanup on their property just yet. Volunteers are handing out kits that contain a hazmat protective suit and n95 marches and gloves and safety goggles. Now, there are two of those checkpoints in geyserville. Were told they are planning to open a third. And the benefit concert here gets under way sometime after 6 00 tonight. Were live in healdsburg, roz plater, nbc bay area news. Thank you very much for the report. And cooler temperatures moving into parts of the north bay tonight. A live look for you, outside from the Traffic Camera in san rafael. And lets bring in meteorologist, rob, and not quite as cold as we were expecting. Thats good news. The frost advisories and freeze warnings have expired. And tonight, we have clear skies. And the air outside, no doubt, you have noticed in the last few days continues to be quite dry, and the humidity levels still in the teens. You couple the dry air and the clear skies and the heat that you gain during the day quickly escaped back out into space, so the temperatures again tonight in the north bay, dropping through the 50s, passing 9 00 tonight, and again by tomorrow morning. And a few areas, up towards sonoma, and santa rosa, and over towards fairfield, could see some 30s. To start the day. Now, to warm up the temperatures, we need the return of some onshore winds, or clouds, or better yet, maybe some rain in the forecast. And coming up in about ten minutes, a closer look at the seven to tenday outlook to see if there are rain chances coming our way. Rorks thank you very much. Help is on the way for victims of the kincade fire, at least a few truckloads worth. The Emergency Response team held a donation drive in the north bay for victims in the sonoma county. It happened at the morgan elementary in morgan hill with new clothes and bedding and Hygiene Products and hay, food for animals and one member thanked the people in the south bay for rallying together to help the people in sonoma county. Gilroy, san martin, this community has been great. I have been doing this, this is my fifth year and i havent had a problem getting truckload after truckload to any of the fires throughout california. Organizers then drove all of the supplies you see in it, including the hay, up to the north bay, where theyre now being handed out. Helping out there. Oh, yes. Not just the fire though, people in the north bay, were rattled by a pair of small earthquakes this morning. An earthquake measuring 3. 7 that hit just after 7 00 in the morning, that quake was centered near the geysers on the northern perimeter of the kincade fire. Then three and a half hours later, a smaller 2. 9 quake struck just west of cobb. There are no reports of injuries or damage. Thats good news. From either quake. Friends and family of two people missing for more than a week in northern california, are coming together to pray for them. A vigil for justin winfree, and Kayla Rodriguez is set for tomorrow afternoon at the Third Baptist Church in San Francisco. The two took off from novato in a small plane and seen having dinner in humbolt county and the plane later dropped off radar, five miles off the coast of mendocino county. Today was the ninth annual bay area science festival. The free event took place at oracle park in San Francisco. The festival featured hundreds of handson activities, and tours of the facilities, all to connect people with scientists and engineers in the area. There is a future scientist right there. After she wins the track and field championship. Exactly. Organizers say the festival is a great way to get children excited about math and science and they hope it inspires kids to have a career in science, technology, and engineers. This year, for the second year in a row, we have the teen area, for teens 13 to 19 and a prek area under the coke bottle and a robot zoo for all ages. So there is something for everyone. Yes, there. Is science festival, the culmination of ten days of events put on by the university of San Francisco. Rob mayeda joining us now, at some point in your life something got you interested in science. The Space Shuttle program. They sent back Mission Shuttle passes. Very cool. A science report. Best science report i ever had. Right there. Fifth grade. Wonderful. Just like that. And nice weather for the science event out there. Gorgeous weather. Yes, you can see there in the corner of the screen, 75 degrees outside the nbc bay area studios here in san jose. We will take you around the bay area right now and start in san jose, where it is pretty nice. Mid70s, but that haze is lingering out there. Other thing you might notice is this, how dry it is. Still only 21 the relative humidity, around san jose. And over towards walnut creek, similar skies, mid 70s, and humidity only 15 . So the hand cream and the lip balm you probably are going through packs of that this week. And right now even San Francisco, right there near the bay, humidity at 32 . And 73 degrees. So even though the onshore winds have stopped, the marine air really has come back. We still have a slight offshore breeze keeping things dry and as High Pressure builds we may still have to watch some areas of smoke as we go through the week. Maybe not so much for this weekend but as the high gets stronger wednesday into thursday, we might see some winter time spare the air alerts due to some smoke pollution kind of building underneath that High Pressure which is has kind of kept things locked in and dry over the bay area. Winds slightly onshore. But not enough to bring in more moist marine air and no sign of any low clouds on the coast. Once again, you will notice that tomorrow morning, in the 30s and 40s inland and closer to 52 degrees in San Francisco, and 42 degrees in san jose, and yes, time change, saturday, at least get an extra hour sleep tomorrow morning. As we rewind one hour, the clocks, as we go back to bed tonight. Now notice, as you head out to the raider game tomorrow, the numbers in the low 70s. Hazy sunshine. Pretty nice day around the bay area. Like we are h like, like we had today. Warmer, mid80s in some areas. And mid to upper 70s tomorrow around the trivalley. Low 70s from oakland to hayward. And peninsula temperatures in the mid 70s. San francisco, not too bad. Close to 70 degrees. And in the north bay, we will see upper 70s, close to 80 degrees. So as we go into november now, you can think of this as the First Quarter of the rainfall season. Unfortunately, if you have noticed outside, the High Pressure keeping the rain on hold, and we think this should be the pattern, probably for the better part of the next seven days, even as the high recenters to our south. And rain is starting to impact the west coast but just staying too far to the north for now, so the long range outlook, unfortunately, it keeps things dry. Not just through the end of the week, but through november 12, you can see this, pretty drylooking forecast ahead. But theres good news, were not seeing strong gusty offshore winds in the sevenday forecast. But a continuation of the warm temperatures in San Francisco. We could see mid 70s towards the second half of next week. And the rain still not in the picture there for the sevenday forecast inland. But at least unlike last week, were not seeing a return of strong gusty offshore winds in that sevenday forecast. It looks great. Were not going to get exactly what we want but there is no wind, and the temperatures are wonderful. Yes. It is nice to get outside. And the containment on the fire is going up. So good news. Yes. Still ahead, in the wake of the deadly campfire, the community of paradise has rallied around the High School Football team. How the team is offering hope and making people proud. My parents never taught me anything about managing money. The amount of Student Loan Debt i have, im embarrassed to even say. We just decided we didnt want debt any longer.
