Now overnight, of course, the Second Intelligence official, a possible new whistleblower has reportedly spoken to the Inspector General about the president s actions regarding ukraine. Matt, the question for you is, how valuable would another witness be, especially if this person has more direct information about what happened as the times reports. It would be critical. If you read the whistleblowers complaint, first whistleblower, Tropical Storm multiple officials that raised red flags to him about misconduct inside the administration. They attacked him as not having firsthand knowledge. There are a number of witnesses who could come forward. If theres a second whistleblower that comes forward, i think that raises the question if there are more witnesses. Presumably both would talk to the Intelligence Committee and provide names of individuals who could provide further evidence of misconduct by the president or others around him. On that note we just talked about the fact the president publicly called on china to investigate bidens dealings and he did that in front of all these reporters on the south lawn. I guess the question is on its face at the end of the day, its asking a Foreign Government for assistance in an election. Its illegal. It is. It is a crime under u. S. Law. By most accounts constitutional scholars an impeachable offense. I think the president s brazen call in public for not just one country but a second country to interfere in the election similar to 2016 statement, russia if youre listening moment. Were not just looking at his past conduct, president zelensky in this month long effort to get them to investigate joe biden but raises the question if hes google to keep inviting foreign intervention in an election. As long as hes president whether we can have a free and open election if there are other countries invited to investigate his opponent. Related to ukraine, according to messages, top diplomats appeared to view it very differently. How damaging are those Text Messages. I think they are incredibly damaging. Kurt volker, the president s envoy to ukraine made it clear theres a direct quid pro quo, if you want pa meeting, something they wanted for a variety of reasons, you need to announce these investigations publicly. Another official seemed to think there was a quid pro quo for the ukrainians to get aid only if they announce investigations. You have direct evidence of the thing the president denied. Thats problematic. The republicans say the bar is not inviting a government to interfere but if theres a quid broke quo. We saw evidence of quid pro quo in these messages. This morning prince harry is waging war with two british tabloids suing the owners of the sun and the daily mirror for what Buckingham Palace says is the illegal interpretation of voicemail messages. Filed a lawsuit of her own days earlier against another tabloid the mail on sunday alleging naul editing and publication of private letter to her estranged father. A spokesperson to the tabloid said it had done nothing wrong and will fight the suit in court. The risk is that the mail on sunday and other newspapers will fight harder. They will make the life of the royal couple that much more difficult. I think prince harry and his wife are well aware of that risk.
