Much more ahead for you on today in the bay. Coming up, were going live to washington to talk politics with chuck todd, moderate for of meet the press. Plus a night to remember for this gilroy girl. Well show you why her Community Came together to throw her her own prom. Welcome back. Time for our weekly chat with chuck todd, moderator of meet the press. Good morning, chuck. Good morning, kris. Were still talking about the debate. We know that beto orourkes mandatory assault weapons buyback plan had a lot of people talking, bidens aide present and center at this weeks debate. What do you think is going to happen in the democratic race . Well, thats the thing. Does any of this have an impact . The first two debates we thought would have a lot of impact and then the race ended up being back right where it was before the debates began. Are we headed in that same direction and how selfreinforcing is all of this . My biggest takeaway is this and its the focus on joe bidens fitness. There are clearly a lot of people that watched this debate through the prism of can he hold up. And a lot of the coverage of the post debate is that. Is that a bar that joe biden can ever meet if hes always going to be judged by that . Because you could take a twohour performance and say its fine or you could put together a clip reel that makes it look atrocious, so almost depends on did you watch it through a social media posting or actually watch the debate and i think thats to me is the biggest challenge joe biden faces Going Forward in these debates. I think in totality he did fine but i acknowledge if you put together the clip reel of flubs, it is not, it turned out not to be a good night. It really depends on how you view the debate. He said he would put out his medical records. I dont know if that will make people feel better. Hes been joking about his age but some folks not quite laughing with him at this point. We want to talk to you about President Trump firing his Third National security adviser, john bolton, after a disagreement on almost everything. Should we expect to see a shift in the president s Foreign Policy or are we going to see him pick somebody who kind of reinforces what hes been trying to do all along . I think hes looking for somebody that will simply brief him and tell him not what do. That is the donald trump way. Look, when he hired john bolton he acknowledged they didnt see eye to eye when it came to military intervention, so that is the biggest difference, the ultimate hawk is boon in the republican party. Donald trump not so much. The question though is, you know, he essentially fired bolton because bolton was telling him not to meet with the iranians. Subsequently, our state departments accusing the iranians of this drone attack in saudi arabia. How does the president handle iran . He fired bolton because he thought he was getting in the way of diplomacy with iran. Now his secretary of state is blaming iran. Congresswoman liz cheney saying the president should bar the iranians from coming to the United Nations in a couple of weeks and the president still wants to do talks. We havent heard from the president yet on iran and that to me is an openended question. Is he as strident on iran as the rest of his staff is. Who is briefing him. There are people filling the void in the interim. Thank you, chuck. We always like having our coffee with you right after this newscast. See you later. You got it. Join chuck for this mornings meet the press, analyzing the president ial race frontrunners, hes also going to do interviews with candidates cory booker and beto orourke, meet the press 8 00 right here after this newscast. New details on President Trumps visit to the bay area this week. We now know he will reportedly not stop in africa, this is a concern by the towns police chief. The president is expected to be here tuesday for a Campaign Fundraiser hosted by Republican National committee. I almost said democratic, i dont know why. Tickets are 1,000 per person, if you want to sit with the president , that costs 100,000. So far, location unknown. Her mom says sophia is a k dedicated fashionista and counted the days she could dress up for prom. Stanford is showing off its new hospital expansion. Were seeing fog rolling through San Francisco, you can see it there at the golden gate bridge, you can see the flag waving. We get winds that will kick up an increase in the onshore flow will keep us cool, a little bit cloudy but also windy. Current temperatures throughout the bay area 59 degrees in oakland. 57 in fremont. San francisco at about 56 degrees. Were going to be significantly cooler today, and this is the reason why. Take a look at satellite radar, so i was mentioning this system yesterday here it is off to the north. We have that trough thats going to zip in and in addition to helping significantly cool its also going to bring a chance of possibly chance of showers for far northern california, right now the models are showing the possibility of it making its way even in through San Francisco, but its also going to help a lot in terms of our air quality. Our air quality today remember yesterday we were so unhealthy for the east bay and the south bay and inland areas. Today that north bay down to the south bay air quality is good, improving air quality is only Getting Better for today and into tomorrow. No spare the air alerts for today. You can go outside and enjoy it. Cloudy but cool sunday ahead. Lets talk about your daytime highs. Remember that we hit triple digits in santa cruz on friday. Check out oakland, 72 degrees. Santa rosa 82. San francisco 67. Again, it says windy on there because as this trough moves in well notice the winds kicking up. Lets talk about the rai chances that ive been mentioning. So again, that storm is expected to move in overnight and ntotic the spotty showers. Chance of rain through monday. It kicks off early on. As far as rain totals were not expecting extremely high rain totals. Some areas might not get measurable rain from this but it will be cooler and breezy, and i know its going to sound crazy, even though its cooler, we are still watching out for fire danger, so there is a red flag warning because of that system that increases in the winds for the sierra. Its going to kick up the winds so strong that even tracking the possibility of rain and yes, snow for the sierra, those gusty winds are always a concern so that red flag warning for the Sierra Nevada will remain in place through tomorrow, if youre traveling near that area. We have a little bit of warming ahead so we get some rain chances to start our week, then we get another system that moves in, and that system will kind of take over in through wednesday, and then by thursday and friday were expecting a big warmup, once again, back up into the 90s. Look at thursday, 67 degrees. Friday 68. Saturday 72 degrees, and then inland temperatures will be in those 80s. Weve got the showers off to the north, and overall, kris, its just going to be a lot cooler today, so i hope everybody gets out and enjoys it. I bought a dress with sleeves, first one of the season. Weve got a system just off to our north, thats going to help keep us significantly cooler than what weve been seeing the past couple days and here are your temperatures as you head out the door. San francisco 57 degrees, oakland 59, fremont 58, mill valley in the 50s, so its cool and its going to be calm and collected for today. Satellite radar really showcases exactly what im tracking so again weve got this system and yes, this is expected to bring a chance of some rain as early as tomorrow morning for the start of your morning commute, so if you head out to work early around 5 00, 6 00, 7 00 a. M. , you could catch some drizzle especially if you live in far northern ukiah, santa rosa and down through napa and santa rosa. Now, as we look forward in the time line, it does look like were going to see the possibility of some rain down through San Francisco, all the way down through monterey but in addition to the cooling, another good thing thats coming from this is because those winds are kicking up, the increase in the onshore flow, were Getting Better air quality. No triple digits, no 90s, just some comfortable 70s and 80s. A little bit more reasonable for this time of year. Now we have that fog along the coastline early on. The winds will kick up this evening. San francisco 67. Look at oakland 72. Concord 83. Santa cruz 74, and down through the south bay were talking low 80s in san jose. So we dont have to worry about any triple digit temperatures. Look the at the hour by hour outlook. Thats rain and it moves in about 5 00, 7 00 a. M. And by 2 00 3 00 we dont see any effects from it. Its an Early Morning event. By the evening it will be some clearing in the skies, and then the high clouds might linger around a little bit later and the winds will linger, so that hour by hour outlook really the focus is on the Early Morning commute. But even though were cooler, there is a red flag warning in place for the Sierra Nevada because of the winds really kicking up and yes, were talking about some possible rain and snow coming from this system, as we head in towards today, tonight, and into tomorrow. So over the next seven days weve got an additional Second System thats going to roll through on wednesday, and then by thursday and friday, once again, we really begin to warm up again. So even though were cooler, theres always that concern for fire danger, because of those strong gusty winds but weve got good weather ahead.
