Now they are refusing the use of force policy. The new policy does not allow deputies to use a taser more than three times against one person, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Virginia islas said it is too vague. Exceptional circumstances need to be defined, especially when it comes to the use of these lethal weapons. Reporter the new policy also limits each taser hit to five seconds and specifies where the deputies should aim. The new policy also addresses target areas and provides that when feasible, officers will make reasonable efforts to target lower center mass or if available, the back. Reporter but what if three taser strikes arent enough to stop a suspect . The San Mateo County sheriff says his department is investing in other options.
