weekend. >> we'll brace for a cool down for now. we're following developing news in riverside county. a shooting at a can you say co in the city of corona. one person is dead, two others hurt. a chaotic scene. police escorted people out going car by car in the parking lot. we received cellphone video from inside the store as it all unfolded. it happened around 7:45 last night as you hear chaos and screaming. an active shooter somewhere inside costco. the customer who shot this video was grabbing groceries when she heard 7 to 8 gunshots. police captured the gunman who said he was injured and was taken to the hospitals. one customer said as she heard gunshots rang out her first reaction was to shield her daughter. >> crawled around to where she was, and it was just hysteria. just screaming and crying and people running, of course. and it was -- it was frightening. >> a terrifying scene. other people reported hearing an argument before the shots broke out. as shoppers ran for safety some were trampled and hurt. our other top story and only on nbc, four people recovering from a dog attack in santa clara. four employees at a popular pet boarding facility called wag hotels, one of those victims is still hospitalized this morning. today in the bay sergio katana talked exclusively with one of the victims. here's his report. >> he latched on and i just heard my skin pop and crunch. >> reporter: taylor is still recovering at home from several dog bites. she ran to help her coworker who was being attacked. >> on the floor being dragged by a pitbull and my instinct was to grab the pitbull off of her and i grabbed him by his hind legs. >> reporter: they got the dog to let the coworker loose. it then turned and attacked er. we blurred photos she shared with us of her injuries. then her manager stepped in and got the brunt of the attack. >> all four ligaments a bit on her stomach, inner thigh, and she was pretty messed up. >> reporter: she says her manager is still at a local hospital. a santa clara police spokesman says several officers restrained the dog. it's currently in the custody of the silicon animal control authorities. this is not the first time taylor was attacked. her mother showed us photos when she was mauled by a wolf dog as a kid. she was advice for pet owners. >> be honest and open. and if you know something that the animal can do, make sure you tell people. >> reporter: taylor said the dog that attacked was flagged as needing special care, but they weren't expecting this. she fully plans on recovering to work when she recovers. this attack has not deterred her career goal as a dog trainer. >> these are animals and you can only control them so much, but training is very helpful and the way you treat animals is important. >> reporter: #bay area, news. massacre plot foiled. concord police arresting a 23-year-old man threatening to kill jewish people. he's been on concord police and the fbi's radar as a possible terrorist. that's because recently they got a tip he was talking online about killing jews. police documents say he had a screen name, a reference to the number of jewish people killed during the holocaust. police found an assault rifle with 13 magazines and books about hitlers nazi life. in one of his posts he referred to the shooter in christchurch as a hero. he's being held on bail at the martinez jail. >> the two people you see here are wanted for particular, and fuiorecognize any of them contact san francisco police. a high profile hearing involving an undumocumented immigrant accused of killing a san jose woman inside her home is postponed. he was in court for a plea bargain hearing, but his lawyer asked for more time saying he's received new evidence. larson's murder sparked outrage over santa clara county's sanctuary policy. just last week county supervisors voted unanimously not to make any changes to that policy. the family of larson is weighing in. >> i'm really disappointed the county didn't make that change. i was really hoping this would just push them and let's do something. it's never going to change if nobody steps up to do anything about it. >> he has a lengthy criminal record. immigration has tried to deport him nine times. also in san jose officers made quite a discovery during a probation search, and this is what they found in the home of a known gang member, several guns and 100 pounds of illegal fireworks. chief of police eddy garcia tweeted these pictures out praising officers for their great work. no more delays. b.a.r.t. is now back on schedule after a frustrating day for commuters. yesterday a problem with equipment on the tracks in san leandro delayed trains for hours. crews had to create the tracks by hand to keep the trains moving. the agency said it's still unclear to what led to the equipment issue. a passionate protest in san francisco. opponents of california's mandatory vaccine laws speaking out against a proposal that would end almost every exception to the state's mandatory vaccine law. they also say the city has been unfairly targeting a doctor who's been ordered to turn over medical records for unvaccinated country. new video from our nbc station in sacramento of an explosion at a gas station. the driver of a sedan makes a uturn and then slams into the gas pumps. the driver leaves the scene while her car is on fire. she's been arrested for dui. a 2-year-old boy wandering the neighborhood alone. fortunately a friendly neighbor came to the rescue. he saw him wearing nothing but a shirt and a diaper. he quickly scooped up the toddler and walked through the neighborhood trying to find his family. he documented the search on his phone. >> my first instinct was to pick up the baby. i'm not going to leave a baby just walking by itself in the streets. >> when he couldn't find williams parents he called police. three hours later antioch police located the boy's mother. the tearful mother says it was an accident and the boy got out when his 22-year-old sister fell asleep. angry employees. the company is shutting down after more than 90 years. the parent company smithfield foods is offering a woeful severerance package. employees say they feel they're being tossed aside. >> to me it's like a slap in the face. i mean, i've been working here for 20 years, always tried to do the best for the company. >> we reached out to the company but have not heard back. preparing for something they hope never happens, yesterday more than 100 firefighters gathered for a wildfire preparedness drill at santa clarita park in the foothills. the goal, figure out how to work with different fire agencies to battle a wildfire streaming towards a major city. >> we have to practice working shoulder to shoulder and we have to learn to speak the same language and use the same tools to fight fires. >> santa clara county has a number of areas identified in cal fire's high risk zones, meaning areas that are exceptionally at risk for a major wildfire. and take a look at this. a herd of cattle parading down the street in pleasanton. for the past few years the cattle drive has kicked off the alameda county fair, but yesterday was the last time they'll be doing this. organizers say they're looking for something even bigger to help kick off the fair in the future. the county fair ends july 7th. i stuck indoors with all the triple digit heat this week. it's time to take the pups out and the kids and have a good time. 53 degrees in san francisco, and take a look at the wind speeds right now. light winds, not really a big factor, but it'll be just enough to sort of keep that cool like feel throughout the bay area. what about your highs for today? we're actually going to be in the 70s in the south bay. take a look at the east bay. we've got a good distance in terms of our temperatures. we're going to be topping out at 66 in oakland. but look at walnut creek, 80 degrees. so just a drive in through oakland and you drop by as much as 15 plus decrease. looking for a cooler spot definitely hang out along the coastline and bay and peninsula. san mateo 69 degrees. san francisco will keep a lot more of those cloudy skies through the afternoon. again, not a completely sunny day especially not for the coastline, but it'll be a good mixture. if you're going to be heading out to the alameda county fair the weather is going to be perfect for it. by about 3:00 talking 74 degrees, and notice those temperatures start to go down into those 60s by about 6:00, and i've gone out there to check it out and it's all about the food. the food is amazing. let's talk about dads for tomorrow. 65 degrees in san francisco. once again we'll be waking up with that cloud cover. but take a look at monday and tuesday. this is what i'm talking about when i say enjoy the cool. warm us back up into the 90s and talk about that triple digit heat as we head towards tuesday. look at those icons, clear, it was answered. how one bay area woman reached out for help and got a huge assist from a neighbor she had never met before. it's the latest story in our bay area proud series. neighbors helping neighbors. many wonderful stories, but this one has a few twists. these two neighbors didn't even know each other and they united far from their homes in pacifica. today in the bay's gavin thomas has this morning's bay area proud. >> the bay area proud series can sometimes cover heavy life in-depth situations, this is not one of them. although if you've almost lost a vacation because you've forgotten something at home, it can feel really bad and really good when a stranger comes to the rescue. how far would you be willing to go to help a neighbor? next door to drop off something needed to someone you know, or all the way to seattle for a complete stranger? well, if you're sasha chitam, the answer is yes to both. >> because why not be nice to someone and try. >> these are all in victoria. >> the someone who sasha was nice to was tiffany hicks. she's showing us pictures of her vacation to canada that wouldn't have happened without sasha. you see on memorial day weekend when tiffany got to security at sfo for a flight to seattle before crossing the border she pulled out her passport. her son cooper's paspert, that is that she had mistakenly grabbed. >> and then i was like panicked, sad and disappointed in myself like all at the same time. >> reporter: tiffany's plane was leaving too soon for someone to bring her her passport and too late for an overnight delivery. so sitting on the plane tiffany drew what she called a hail mary, posting to next door, the neighborhood social network, asking if anyone could help. sasha's mother responded saying her daughter was headed that way. a few frenzied hours later sasha was on a plane with a passport for someone she had never met. >> i was thinking, oh, god, is there going to be a crazy person who's going to be at the airport? i'm hoping for the best. my parents know where i am, they can track my phone. i'm hoping this is all normal. >> it was more than normal. it was a kind thing to do. tiffany and sasha eventually posting a selfie of the hand-off, for all those on nextdoor who had been following the saga, a vacation saved and faith in community restored. >> ended up being such a great story and a following a developing story this morning in the east bay. a massacre plot foiled. concord police arresting a 23-year-old man on monday charging him with threatening to kill indiscriminately people of the jewish faith. that's with a joint effort of the fbi. a tipster saw a suspect posting threats on a popular gaming website. today in the bay's sheryl herd talked to neighbors and has the details. >> reporter: ross anthony farga has been on concord police and the fbi's radar as a possible terrorist. that's because they recently got a tip he was talking online about killing jews. police documents say he had a screen name, a daf hitler 6 million, a reference to the number of jewish people killed during the holocaust. they believe he had a fpropensi for violence and they're glad he's behind bars. neighbors may have had a reason to be scared. this complaint threatening to harm or execute jews. we also learned when officers searched the home they found an assault rifle with 13 magazines, a 3 foot sword, clothing, and books about hitler and nazi life. we also learned he was planning a poway synagogue type shooting but he prepared wearing a nazi uniform. police say in one of his posts he referred to one of the christchurch mosque shooters as a hero. president donald trump started his birthday yesterday by calling in to his favorite morning show. that led to another free wheeling interview in which he appear today be walking back inflammatory comments from earlier this week. here's nbc's craig boslow in washington, d.c. >> reporter: president trump telling fox news he would still look at dirt on political opponents if offered from foreign powers but seeming to reverse himself on what he would do with it. >> and of course you be to look it because if you don't look at it you're not going to know if it's bad. >> reporter: this is what he told abc news. >> this is someone who said we have information on your opponent, oh, give me a break. >> reporter: the president pitching a fire storm of controversy for his comments. the chair of the federal election commission says the law is clear. >> anyone in the united states is not allowed to accept anything of value from a foreign national, particularly a foreign government in connection with an election. >> reporter: in the same interview with fox the president accused iran for attacks on oil tankers in the strait of hormuz saying surveillance videos show iranian soldiers removing an unexploded mine. iran denies involvement. >> if any of those mines or attacks were aimed at american ships and american ships get hit, we could see the situation totally escalate. >> reporter: the president did not name a replacement for sarah sanders or endorse vice president mike pence if he runs in 2024. but the president did bash his potential 2020 rivals. >> look, everybody knows that joe biden does not have what it takes, okay? >> reporter: the president on his 73rd birthday attacking candidates, calling into cable tv shows, already in campaign mode. the president formally launches his re-election campaign tuesday. craig boswell, nbc news, washington. japan's prime minister is joining the u.s. in condemning those attacks on two oil-tankers in the persian gulf. the statement came hours after president trump talked about new video he says proves iran is to blame. iran has denied any involvement and says the u.s. is warmongering. those attacks led to a spike in gas prices nationwide. a high school who lost her leg and several fingers to a shark is now talking about the attack and her recovery. 17-year-old paige winter was attacked. her dad says he realized something was wrong when the ocean water went red around his daughter. that's when he decided to dive in and fight the shark, punching it. >> i'm 17, i've got so much to do. and it's true. i have a lot to do. and i think with this situation i can transform it into something that it's not like oh, how tragic, 17-year-old lost her life. no, 17-year-old lost her leg and we're popping, you know. >> this was at a conference yesterday organized by a north carolina hospital to honor those who helped save paige's life. they said police didn't need to kill their son and now a walnut creek family he's hired a high profile attorney to potentially sue the city. they found a man named miles hall holding a piece of a metal pole and making threats. after repeatedly trying to get him to drop the weapon, police shot and killed him. now attorney general john burres says police failed to use common tack tactics that could have de-escalated the situation. mile's mother says her son struggled with mental illness and said she'd even called police the day before to warn them he was getting unstable. >> so when you call and make a statement like that, you expect that your partner who you trusted in 2018 is now going to be able to take care of your loved one. >> the family says police should have called on a especially trained resource officer who had worked with the family before. the season is over but the drama continues. the president of the toronto raptors has returned to canada, but he has unfinished legal business here in the bay area. it stems from the story we broke thursday night. court side confrontation right after the game ended. the nba says it's investigating the matter. the alameda county sheriff's department says that the raptor's president pushed and hit a deputy in the face friday as he tried to make his way onto the court. >> reporter: commotion over credentials. our exclusive video shows a man in the army green shirt stopping alameda county sheriff deputies from getting to -- don't know who this man is? the deputy involved didn't either. but the president of operations for the toronto raptors is the man praised for building the team that stole the championship from the warriors. >> we wanted to win in toronto, a and we have won in toronto. >> reporter: the spokesperson says the drama happened right when he rushed to the court tocelebrate alongside his team. >> at that point the deputy noticed him trying to access the court. he asked him for his credentials. he refused to produce the credential and shoved our deputy out of the way. >> reporter: the sarge nlt says the deputy pushed him back. that's when he allegedly pushed the deputy harder, hitting him in the face. deputies say that's misdemeanor battery on an officer, and they along with oakland police are now investigating. a visibly drained warriors general manager bob myers responding to the incident involving his canadian counterpart. >> i hope it gets resolved in the best way possible. nbc bay area news. the da's office says it's still waiting for deputies to submit the results of their investigation. and once that happens prosecutors will decide whether or not to press charges. well, this warriors will look very different next season with two major injuries. this magical five-year dynasty might have come crashing to an end. klay thompson suffered a torn acl just days after kevin durant ruptured his achilles tendon. both are free agents but will likely miss a lot and possibly all of next season. and that begins in just four months at the new chase center. coach kerr was asked if the dynasty is ending. >> i don't look at it or think about it in those terms. we get some you look outside your window and wandering are the clouds going to be hanging out all day, we will get a mix of sun and clouds. satellite radar, good amount of cloud cover down really through the entire coastline all the way up to the north. we had a little bit of limited visibility. those temperatures also in the 50s. no big changes from our morning highs, but take a look at your afternoon highs. we'll be a lot more comfortable. some spots will still warm up into the 80s but all in all in the upper 70s through the south bay. quite a range in temperatures. we go from upper 60s in oakland all the way into the mid-80s in antioch and concord. depending on your mood, go inland. if you feel like kind of keeping that cloud cover cool and breezy hang out at the coastline. 69 degrees in san mateo, and san francisco is going to feel like san francisco. by that i mean we're going to keep the cloud cover, and a little breezy. a little more normal for this time of year. and in the north bay 89 degrees. nevado, 78. and if you're going to be heading out tomorrow morning for the pride festival it's going to be a great day for a picnic. we'll get another combination of sun and clouds. the event starts at 12:00. and of course you can always head out to the alameda county fair today. it's going to be beautiful. perfect weather for it. 72 degrees by about 4:00. so we're going to keep noticing the icons as those clouds lingering all day long. but it'll be great weather all the way through 7:00. i keep saying enjoy the cooler weather because we've got changing weather up ahead, and it's going to make its move in as early as tomorrow morning. by father's day celebrating dad, our temperatures will start to climb by a couple of degrees. and monday and tuesday that high pressure moves around and dry us out, and those temperatures are going to warm back up into the 70s for san francisco. inland temperatures are going to get even hotter. we're talking 15, possibly 20 degrees warmer by monday into tuesday. so our hottest day of the week is expected to be on tuesday. and then notice in the icons, no clouds in sight. when the high pressure rolls through it's going to clear comes with getting a puppy. >> so definitely take them to training i would say immediately right when they have all their shots. i think some training places will take them when they have two or three shots. so training is essential, be prepared. potty training can be difficult, but it's definitely worth it. you just got to keep at it and gets lot of exercise. play with them a lot. let them get
