another major story this morning. the search for answers after that deadly helicopter crash in the heart of new york city. the pilot killed in the accident on the roof of a skyscraper. people inside and surrounding the building scrambling for safety. nbc's kathy park was there yesterday. she joins us this morning. so many questions here as well. >> yeah, we were out there yesterday. good morning. the chopper slammed into a 54-story skyscraper. one witness said her office shook. for others the jolt brought back memories of 9/11. officials are stressing this is not an act of terror. they are trying to figure out why the pilot was in airspace over new york city that's supposed to be off limits. >> reporter: investigators are pouring over the roof of this 54-story skyscraper in the heart of new york city. hunting for clues into what may have caused monday's deadly helicopter crash. >> we have what appears to be a helicopter that crashed into the roof. the helicopter is on fire. >> reporter: the chopper pilot, timothy mccormack, who was flying alone was killed. a senior law enforcement official telling nbc news that they believe this video shows the chopper flying erratically moments before impact. but that information still needs to be confirmed by the faa. these images show pieces of the aircraft scattered over the roof. the impact was so intense it started a fire. employees felt the building shake. >> not like an earthquake. >> reporter: confusion leading to moments of chaos. >> you get in the lobby and you have people screaming at you, get outside, get outside! now it's scary. >> reporter: workers began pouring outside into the rain just blocks from times square and trump tower. >> there is no indication at this time that this was an act of terror and there is no ongoing threat to new york city. >> reporter: but many new yorkers held their breath as initial reports triggered memories of the september 11th attacks. >> as soon as you hear an aircraft hit a building, i think my mind goes where every new yorker's mind goes. >> reporter: officials say the helicopter took off from the 34th street helipad on manhattan's east side after dropping off a passenger. the deadly crash occurring just 11 minutes later. this morning it's still unclear why the pilot was flying under such poor visibility in a flight zone that has been restricted ever since president trump took office. >> to go into that area, a helicopter would need the approval of laguardia tower, and we need to find out if that happened or not here. >> what more do we know about the pilot and the moments just before the crash? >> according to law enforcement they are saying that pilot thought he had a clearing in the skies and could make the flight after leaving the helipad, but radioed that he may need to return. the pilot's brother issued a statement saying tim mccormack had years of flying experience as a pilot as well as a flight instructor and he saved lives by managing to land the helicopter on the roof. we learned that he has years of experience in the manhattan area. was very familiar with the verye airspace as well. >> it investigation goes on. thank you. new developments this morning tied to the mueller report after weeks of negotiations the justice department has agreed to provide congress with more evidence from the special counsel's investigation. a key figure from watergate took center stage on capitol hill nbc's white house correspondent peter alexander has that story good morning. >> reporter: the house is expected to vote to go to court to enforce subpoenas for the entire mueller report as well as for testimony and documents from key witnesses, most notably the former trump white house counsel don mcgahn as democrats call for that critical figure john dean from the nixon era back before congress to testify about similarities between watergate and now. as democrats launch an ambitious new round of hearings focused on the mueller report. >> we have a responsibility to do this work, to follow the facts where they lead. >> reporter: president trump remains defiant, dismissing talk of impeachment. >> you can't impeach somebody when there is nothing wrong. when you look at past impeachments, president clinton or nixon never got there, he left i don't leave. there is a big difference. >> reporter: the 45th president invoking the 37th richard nixon who resigned in disgrace over watergate. it comes as democrats called on the man who helped bring down nixon, former white house counsel, many ways, the mueller report is to president trump what the so-called watergate roadmap was to president richard nixon. stated a little differently, special counsel mueller has provided this committee with a roadmap. >> reporter: republicans mocking democrats' decision to invite dean, a vocal critic of the president on cable news. >> this committee is hearing from the '70s. y that they -- they want their star witness back. >> reporter: president trump attacking him. >> john dean has been a loser for many years. >> reporter: still democrats are touting progress after the judiciary committee reached a deal with the justice department to hand over some key underlying evidence about possible obstruction of justice by the president. the democrats say for now they will hold off on a vote to find attorney general william barr in contempt of congress, but will push for a possible court battle to get more documents and force witnesses to testify with a vote on that today. vice savannah this is the 18th day of the search for jennifer dulos. the focus returns to a connecticut courtroom an the two people who police think may know what happened. >> reporter: this morning it's back to court for jennifer dulos' estranged husband and his girlfriend 51-year-old fotis dulos and 44-year-old michelle troconis arraigned last week on charges of evidence tampering and hindering prosecution in connection with jennifer's disappearance. the mother of five last seen may 24th dropping her children off at a private school in new canaan, connecticut. as the search for jennifer enters the 18th day police have launched a new website find jennifer dulos dot-com pleading for more help from the public new canaan police say they have received over 310 tips and nearly 75 responses with video surveillance from homes an businesses the town's police chief adding, we will not rest until we find jennifer monday police returned to this hartford trash site looking for clues. now public arrest warrants for fotis and troconis say cellphones tracked them to hartford where a man matching fotis' description and a woman tossing garbage bags the warrants that state in the bags, investigators found clothing and a sponge soaked in jennifer's blood troconis, the girlfriend, free on $500,000 bond, met with investigators last thursday. dulos remains in jail unable to post bond. on friday as investigators searched the farmington home he shared with troconis, fotis hired a high-profile lawyer. norm pattis. in a statement he says there are powerful reasons to believe he wasn't at the home the day she disappeared. i am unaware of any evidence of foul play. he will appear in court with dulos today. he says he plans to ask for a substantial bond reduction jennifer's children this morning after being bitten by a shark. it happened in ocean isle beach. just north of the south carolina border family members say austin reed was bitten on his foot he was treated for simpson makes his money now that he is out of prison >> he tells the "associated press" he is living off of his pensions right now of course, the goldmans won a $33 million wrongful death judgment >> a lot of variables that they could not actually control for you. the hypothesis is the light from these sources is affecting melatonin, disrupting circadian rhythms, changing appetite-suppressing hormones. it should be noted the biggest limitations from this study are that it was an cause and effect. this was merely an association we always say more research should and needs to be done to establish if this really is playing a role. >> it makes sense because there are good studies that say disrupted sleep leads to weight gain. >> exactly. >> if the lights are affecting your sleep and you are not able to - >> change your habits the next day. >> we talk about sleep hygiene it's a small change to make. i think that a lot of the experts who were not involved in the study said why not try this? we saved 67 bucks. wait because we saved the best for last paradise this is the ritzy hotel where we saved hundreds using hot wire. and this is the life you have this huge suite we scored this was a little bit more expensive. it was about $900. we got it for $500 the savings was huge we are talking about over $400 we saved we have got a suite here we've got a bed. we've got a jacuzzi tub. we have a wonderful bathroom, double vanities and look at this view and here is cabo san lucas in total on priceline we saved $232 hotwire, a whopping $555 last-minute travel we paid more with a mystery deal. extra $99. and the accommodations underwhelming. in conclusion, mystery deals can save you money they come with risks and reward. i know, tough assignment right? >> this is a survey pharmacists do every year. they are basically ranking their favorite products based on experience, how efficacious, how safe these are they survey over 800 different products. >> these are brand names >> yes. >> not some of the generics. >> not store they are valued in the store for the pharmacists there is a consistency, identity with these brands you know, patients feel very confident. >> let's get to the list this first one was a bit surprising i thought advil was not necessarily great for your stomach? >> here is the thing i think from the outside just because it's over the counter doesn't mean it's automatically safe that's one take-home message for adults for pain relief, fever reducing, anti-inflammatory effects advil. it's the brand for the generic ibuprofen. yes, it can be associated with stomach issues if you are using it for too long. it can also be associated with cardiovascular risk, aka heart attack and stroke for people who use it for extended periods of time or people who are at risk the shortest period of time, duration of use with the lowest dose possible. >> children's tylenol. >> your baby or your child has a fever or is achy, what do you give them? their choice is children's tylenol. children's tylenol is a favorite of pediatricians something i like about tylenol is kids under age 6 months can use it it's also available suppository. if you have an upset or colicky baby using too much or extended periods of time never a good idea can cause liver issues if used in excess. >> so many cold products on the market. >> okay. so they chose dayquil. dayquil is a combination or has three main ingredients one is acetaminophen back to or apropos our conversation with children's tylenol if you are taking other acetaminophen containing things, don't exceed too much. it has a cough suppressant as well as a nasal decongestant so it relieves a lot of the daytime cold and flu symptoms like headache and achiness and sore throat and cough without making you drowsy. >> this is the time of year where we're slathering on sunscreen. >> yes neutrogena is their choice dermatologists love neutrogena, too. a couple of, you know, things with sunscreen, you always want to look for broad spectrum uva, uvb, apply every two hours, more frequently if you are swimming or sweating if you don't do a good job of applying the sunscreen, this is their favorite to relieve the symptoms of a sunburn. this is solarcaine it contains lidocaine which numbs the area if you stick it in the refrigerator especially because it has aloe vera in it, it's really cooling and soothing to a sunburn. >> okay. i get a bug bite. >> i didn't know this existed. it needs to go in my bag today after bite, the active ingredient is baking soda. it also contains a little bit of ammonia. the great thing about it is it comes in this little pencil. you can keep it in your bag. if you get a bug bite, you have itching and discomfort, apply it straight to the skin. >> safe for kids >> yes. >> is what i use for my allergies, zyrtec. >> so for adults, the choice for an antihistamine is zyrtec. for children the choice is claritin why the difference here?
