Were still hoping for the best out here, but lets take a look at some real snow in the sierra. Over the weekend you were talking about that, it was a mess of traffic on i80 at kingvale, the wind was whipping the snow around while folks were trying to get their chains on. We caught brian kress as he was heading home to San Francisco. It was painful, a bunch of traffic. There were, i guess, whenever the as soon as we got up to truckee and started on our way down 80 the snow really started to fall and so there were a few wrecks. It was a rough weekend on the slopes, too, as that wind was Strong Enough to force boreal and squaw valley to shut down a few lifts for some time. It could be a rough day as folks head home from a long weekend. We will keep watching for snowflakes out here on the summit, hopefully we will be able to see some. The special prosecutors indictment of the 13 rusts pointed to facebook as a key part of the russians effort to fool the American Public before and after the 2016 president ial election. Facebook is fighting bad news on all fronts. Take a look at the sunday New York Times with the headlines, to stir discord russians turned to facebook. Rod rosenstein reading out the indictment friday morning accusing 13 people, three organizations all russians of interfering with our election. The 37page charging document does not accuse facebook of criminal wrongdoing, but does name facebook 41 separate times. There was deep concern at facebook even before fridays indictment as employees wondered what role they may have unwittingly played in damaging democracy. Facebooks Vice President of ads who was the executive in charge during the whole incident posted a defense to twitter saying, among other things, i have seen all the russian ads and i can very definitively say that swaying the election was not the main goal. Thats exactly the opposite of what this indictment says. On page 4 section 6, defendants operations included supporting the president ial campaign of donald j trump. Donald trump happily jumped on that executives tweet, including that tweet that defends facebook with what is a falsehood. The Police Department released these photos showing six people arrested for targeting people with laptops at coffee shops in recent months. Reporter five of the eight units in that building were destroyed by the fire and Officials Say the fire was accidental and that it was caused by an unattended pot on a stove. So as for this mornings fire theyre saying it isnt suspicious, it was caused by the rekindling of that previous fire on monday. If we get any more updates we will bring that to you guys. Bart Police Say Two young people are in custody after a violent attack at the ashby bart station, this is in berkeley. It happened at a bart parking lot on saturday night. Police say that the victim was attacked by four juveniles and suffered minor injuries. Officers responded quickly and managed to track down four suspects, but the victim could only identify two of them. Police are trying to determine if that attack is linked to a mugging friday night at the same station. If you are under the age of 40 or a renter in the bay area most of your paycheck most likely goes towards rent. That is a finding in a new survey by the east bay times. It shows more than a third of bay area renters and a quarter of people under the age of 40 are struggling to afford housing. Over half the people surveyed say they cut back on other expenses such as the amount of food they buy. By the way, only 32 were very satisfied with where they live. New this morning a santa cruz family is talking about being targeted in a violent car jack ing and rock ri in mexico. The family speaking with the sentinel, a mother, father and threeyearold son were driving through southwest mexico, four armed men stopped that car and told them to get out and then stole their car with all of their possessions inside. That family is now home safe. The state department advises americans to avoid travel to this area. At 6 44 firefighters in sacramento catching some heat after their weekend fundraiser. All this coming after Rod Rosenstein unveiled a 37page inl diemt created by the special Counsel Robert Mueller indicting 13 russian st and three russian organizations accusing them of trying to influence the election in favor of candidate donald trump. Trump has in the past refused to blame russia specifically for that influence and has not implemented the sanctions created by congress to punish russia. The president says he asked Vladimir Putin twice to his face whether russia tried to influence our elections and twice putin denied it. To which trump says he believes the russian president. In fact, last summer after meeting with the russian president President Donald Trump actually suggested we join up with putin. Putin and i discussed former an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that Election Hacking and many other negative things will be guarded. Live pictures from martinez where firefighters were able to gain control of a condo fire early this morning. New video of what that fire looked like from firefighters perspective. Happened about 1 30 this morning on eastgate lane off of highway 4. Firefighters say a fire had broken out at that same location early sunday morning. They say that earlier fire rekindled starting another fire in morning. This is the scene as the fire was at its peak. Investigators say the original fire was caused by someone leaving a pot unattended on a kitchen stove. A firefighter was injured in sunday mornings fire. No one was injured in the latest fire overnight. Taking a live look from Santa Cruz Mountains this morning where its possible we could see a light dusting of snow. One olympic medalist is not settling for bronze, she wants even more hardware to take home. She cant win these, though. Garvin thomas streamed aerial golds escapades on Facebook Live overnight. She went out into the olympic park and it was a big hit. She had crowds around her the whole time. People were very happy to give up some of their pins in exchange for what she had to offer. She got two of mine so i got a picture with her today and it was just a wonderful experience for the fans, but she said it was a great experience for her.
