Someone spotted the animal around 9 00 in the morning near the hyde street pier and they say it looks injured and lethargic. The Marine Mammal center swooped in and rescue crews say it is possible he may have been attacked by a shark. These animals are natural prey for sharks and knowing there are great whites in our area it is a risk. But without getting a good look at that injury, it is hard to say whether or not it could be lifethreatening. So the two scenarios, the sea lion beaches itself and it will go to a hospital but there is a chance the wounds are not that serious and that it could heal itself and make it back out in the ocean.
