So far the district found elevated lead in the water in ten schools. You can see them listed right there on your tv screen. The district points out that in every case the lead was coming from a faucet, fountain head, or so thor used to seal the pipes. The lead was never found to originate from the system of pipes themselves. And every instance, the fixture has been taken out of service and has already been or is in the process of being replaced. I mean, is this a big deal . This is a big deal because people are concerned about lead and we to want let everybody know that our schools are cleared of lead. Fastmoving fire threatened three san jose town homes while people were inside sleeping. Look at the size of those flames. Its a story we told you about on today in the bay. They were shooting so high into the air, viewers called the newsroom here to tell us they could see them through highway 385. Kris sanchez joins us live. Now kris, youve got the back story as to what actually woke these people up to get out. Reporter hi there, the fire appears to have started on the backside and the outside of that condo, and it is that reason that likely did not trip up the smoke detectors and thats why the folks said they awoke to crackling sounds and to the pounding of a Good Samaritan at their door. Now the fire captain says it was inside the side town home. The flames were shooting higher than the trees and witnesses called us saying they were visible from the highway. The smoke and the ash were so thick that Christopher Flores ditched his starbucks run and stopped to help complete strangers instead. Well because the building was on fire and i knew people were going to be living in there. And i just wanted to help to try to get them out if i could. San jose fire took these pictures of the interior of what it looks like and what used to be the kitchen it seems. The neighbors on either side will be able to go home at some point once the power and the water is restored. We did ask, this is the season where people are starting to use their furnaces and their space heaters for the first time, perhaps that was a factor. The fire captain told us that did not appear to be a factor in the fire but its always a good time to remind folks if youre going to use a space heater or your furnace, make sure the area around it is clear so you dont end up with Something Like this.
