Reporter investigators in thornton, colorado have been combing through Surveillance Video inside that walmart and interviewing witnesses trying to get information on the shooter. Just before 5 30, local police got first calls of shots fired inside the super store. Authorities quickly identified two men killed a third victim, a woman was rushed to the hospital but died aew hours later. Police held a news briefing and our nbc affiliate was able to talk to witnesses. Witnesses indicated there was an adult man that entered that doorway and just began randomly shooting to a group of people. It sounded almost friendly. I thought it was a balloon popping. I was scared. With everything thats going on in the world and everything, its kind of freaking me out. That last man who did speak with the nbc affiliate in denver. Said he went to that Walmart Store to pick up his daughter. Tonight police were acted if they believed it was an act of terrorism. They say right now theyre not ruling anything out. Reporter this happened back on october 23rd, i talked to the parents tonight, they want the 14yearold boy who attacked their daughter kicked out of school, that hasnt happened. What has happened, i talked to the police theyre investigating this as a crime of battery. The alleged assault happened nine days ago. The parents of the victim, who was black say they heard students using the n diword. We dont tolerate that behavior and we take it seriously and go out of our way to make sure were correct in that behavior in one form or another. Reporter the School District said it cant discuss specifics of the case but says there could be a variety of punishments but expulsion is not one of them. Its a matter of the seriousness of the offense, the frequency, whether this is first time behavior or behavior that has happened in the past. But its a very high thing. Reporter the victims parents are insisting the boy be expelled but say he has only received a threeday suspension. They tell us they waited a week after the attack and when they didnt hear from the School District took their case to the Dublin Police department. And the police confirming they are investigating a crime of battery out here, but they could not confirm what the parents told me, that theres already been an arrest. They were hearing a shootout between an officer and a suspect on diamond street near 18th. Police say it happened after someone flagged down the officer to check out suspicious people in a parked car. That car was stolen. A neighborhood who doesnt want to talk on camera said he heard the officer tell the driver to put his hands on the wheel and if he didnt have keys to the car he was going to arrest him thats when things turned violent. There was screaming and the firing shotter. The 41yearold Police Officer is in the hospital in stable but critical condition. Police say the suspect is also in the hospital with life threatening injuries. Bullet holes serve as a reminder of the violence. Were learning the incident didnt end on diamond. There was a car jacking that occurred very shortly after the shooting. Reporter Police Say Two women and a man carjacked a super cab at gun point. Police found it abanned on oakwood in the mission. Police officers came up with machine gun and ask our neighbor, can we borrow your roof top . Reporter now that car jacking happened right up there at diamond and market. Thats when the recloser device kicks in, sending out three short bursts of electricity to close the security. According to dan mulkey. On the first trip it would have been reclosed. If everything, fault is still there, it trips out again and it will go unmore time. So its three shots to lock out and then automatic. Usually he says the three quick jolts of power restore Service Without a crew going out. It goes through the faults. But in a wind storm, the three jolts send high voltage to a don downed power line.
