This was a train, scheduled before the las vegas report, local responders are taking training earthquake drill at a local hospital. They are practicing with the drills. And well be rehearsing medical surge, so any time the hospital has a surge capability, youll see multiple field hospitals being in the parking lot to show what are the capabilities coming out. When we begin to uncover local time, well bring you pictures and developments as they happen. Water. Internet. We need it to live. But what we dont need are surprises, like extra monthly fees. I see you, fee, played by legendary actress anjelica huston. You got me, mark. We just want fast internet for one, simple rate. For all the streaming and the shopping and the newsing, but most of all. For the this. Internet for one everyday simple price and no extra monthly fees. Press secretar we continue to follow breaking news this morning. In fact, these are live pictures from the white house this morning where Sarah Huckabee sanders is addressing the media. Lets listen in. This is a moment that this is a time when this should not be a political discussion, a policy discussion. Does he believe that he could bring something new to the gun debate that has been, you know, i guess, locked into typical politics for so many years. No, i think today is a day of reflection, a day of mourning, a day of gratefulness for those that were saved. And i think there will be certainly time for that policy discussion to take police. But thats not the place we are in at this moment. But certainly i think there is a time for that to happen. Before he was elected president , in some 15 or 16 years ago, he did have a different view on guns that he had during the campaign. Does he believe that this is something that he could lead a bipartisan effort on at some point . And at what point would that be appropriate . I think thats something we can talk about in the coming days and see what that looks like moving forward. I think one of the things that we dont want to do is try to create laws that wont create or stop these types of things from happening. I think if you look to chicago where you had had over 4,000 victims of gun related crimes last year, they have the strict es gun laws in the country, but that hasnt helped there. But when the time comes for those conversations to take place, then i think we need to look at things that may actually have the real impact. Matthew . Thank you, sarah. On puerto rico, can you tell us about president s aims for tomorrow . And do you expect any tension coming his comments this weekend . Well continue to monitor that in the newsroom. White House Press Briefing that we were talking about las vegas. Of course the idea of gun control comes up, but not just to deal with yet because dealing with the tragedy. All right. Take a look at whats going on with the weather today. Not ha bad day. No, it feels very nice. And refreshing to get out there and get that sunshine as we take a live look outside. Right now in San Francisco, beautiful day. And also some very comfortable temperatures. This kind of weather is what we had whoever the weekend. And as we take a live look outside right now in san jose, we are seeing a lot of sun there. And looking at our temperatures now, we are at 69 degrees in oakland. And 71 in livermore. San jose at 72 degrees. Also 72 degrees in fairfield. In the north bay getting slightly warmer temperatures and also more of those gusty winds. Looking at wind speeds coming in from the north up to 20mileperhour. These are sustained winds. We may have higher gusts. And thats bha we are expecting rest of the day. And thats the reason we do have red flag in effect for woodland area hills where winds will continue to pick up 10 to 25mileperhour. And in some local spots we may have to up to 50mileperhour gusts. So we have to be careful with burning out there, especially with this low humidity at about 8 to 15 . So dealing with the low humidity and slightly warmer temperatures in spots. High temperature in gilroy will be up to 84 degrees. And lower 80s in mill pit tpita. And oakland expect high of 77 degrees. And 75 in fremont. Redwood city 77 degrees. And palo alto 79. In San Francisco, mostly looking at some upper 60s. Sunset up to 66 degrees. And santa rosa expect a high of 82 degrees. If you are going to be along the coast well have a nice wind and fairly mild with the high temperatures reaching into the mid60s at Half Moon Bay and cooling off quickly as you go out for a walk this evening. And for the tri valley, going golfing or spending some extra time outdoors, low 80s today, very comfortable, but once again the humidity is going to be very low with some strong winds. Looking at the forecast over the next several days, some low 70s on the way for San Francisco. So it will be warming up as we go through the week. And well really feel that for the inland area starting at 79 degrees today, more of the same tomorrow. Then for the weekend a lot of events going on. Going to be warm for those inland areas. And well continue to watch that. Ill have another look at the forecast coming up a little later. Marcus. All right. We needed some good news today, thank you kari. And next facebook what they are hoping to find in ads when the russians in the news feeds. But more reaction, singer luke brian was one of the singers at the festival. Truly heartbreaking. And ari she was in manchester back in may. She tweeted my heart is breaking for las vegas. We need peace, and gun control and for people to look at this and call this what this is, terrorism. We have more reaction right now at nbcbayarea. Com at 11 30 in fact youll hear from one of the performers. Coming up in just a few moments. Shooting in us history. You could save energy by living off the grid. Completely. Or. Set the washing machine to cold. Do your thing. Energy upgrade california. Steinle murder case. Say they stole the gun from a bureau of land management. He argues that he found the weapon and the shooting was an accident. The case sparked nationwide debate over undocumented immigrants and crime. He was in the country illegally and about deported several times. Now happening now Facebook Says the company will hire 1,000 people adding a team of reviewing ads across the world. Coming up we are tracking the latest from las vegas. A live report coming up from the ground. Welcome back. And back to our breaking news on this midday. At least 58 people are dead and more than 515 injured now this morning calling it the deadliest shooting in history in las vegas. A vegas hotel from the window of his hotel firing onto the crowd of people down below in concert. Nbc jay gray is live in las vegas. And, jay, we all heard and saw chaos happening, and heard the gunfire. What is the mood like now in las vegas . Reporter stunned, somber, marcus, laura, and a lot of people trying to understand what happened. Not only those that are here on the ground, but around the country and around the world. I want to give you an idea whats happening right now. The strip still locked down as the truck moves through, you can see traffic moving across las vegas boulevard, but past tropicana to the south no one moving in that direction. You can see the police bar a kad where the attack took place and where the massive Investigation Continues right now. Fbi and homeland security, state, local police all involved in trying to understand how and why all of this was carried out. Now, look, we are learning some details from this investigation. First of all, that the man accused here, Stephen Paddock was in his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay four days prior to this attack. And when it happened he shot out two of the windows in that room to give him two different shooting positions. Fbi stressing that he has no ties to any overseas organization. We do know over the last couple weeks on a bit of a gambling spree. But in recent weeks he had been gambling more than 10,000 a day on several days. Sop of those days more than 20 or 30,000. No break down of wins or losses as far as gambling is concerned. But ilgts something that officials are looking at. Hes gone through the home in mesquite, nevada, which is about hour and a half away, and looked at his home and cars. And this is going to be a very long and difficult investigation here. No doubt. So many questions to be answered. I think the big one was why . What was his motive behind that . And right now we dont know, do we, jay . Reporter yeah, we dont, laura. And we talked to his Family Members who say there was nothing that would have indicated that this was any even remote possibility. That he had no strong religious believes or political itch ooh you that may have led into this. So they are like the rest of the country and much of the world trying to understand why this happened. Ive talked with fbi investigators. Retired fbi who say you have to remember it could have been the smallest of things that could have sparked this and made him snap. And thats been the case in other Mass Shootings in this country. But there has never been one like this, at least 58 dead and more than 500 wounded. Its interesting to hear you say about the gambling spree, i know some say this linked all of this and what happened here. Certainly well be following this story. Thanks so much for that. Countr
