A developing story, terrifying moments as one of the nations most traveled parks, one person is dead and another is injured after a rock fell on el capitan in Yosemite National park. This is the height of the climbing season in Yosemite National park. Many people witnessed it as it unfolded yesterday. Sergio quintana is at Yosemite National park with the horrifying accounts from people who saw it all happen. Reporter that rock slide came off the granite face of el capitan, crews began searching for hours but they did stop when the sun went down. Witnesses describe a rumbling then a massive cloud of dust and rocks. It sounded like really, really loud thunder or very loud like louder than thunder, like loud explosions. Reporter rescue crews launched a small fleet of helicopters to survey the area and transport the injured to the nearest hospital. Details on the patient and extent of the injuries have not been released, the identity of the person killed has not been released. The slide came from a waterfall route, a popular trail near horse tail falls, this is the busiest part of the season for rock climbers. According to the National Park service there were about 30 climbers on the granite face of el capitan during the rock slide. We just saw this massive dust cloud and we knew it was probably near climbers. Reporter the search continued for hours after the slide, its still not clear if there were any further injuries. The hour by hour outlook doesnt show too many changes, but i do want you to kind of Pay Attention because this weekend you will see the return of that fog and as early as next week we will start trending cooler. Next seven days as early as tomorrow we will be in the 60s for San Francisco and then we will kind of stay in those 70s through saturday and sunday and then as we head into monday 71 degrees and we will start noticing a much more seasonable pattern for San Francisco and inland as well. The passenger claimed that she had a deadly allergy to animals and asked that a service dog be removed from the flight. The only way we will ever know what happened to Otto Warmbier while in captivity in north korea is in north korean officials tell us. Warmbier died from complications of a longterm brain injury caused by lack of oxygen. His parents are breaking their silence saying his son was tortured. They kidnapped otto, they tortured him, they intentionally injured him. It looked like someone had taken a pair of pliers and rearranged his bottom teeth. The ohio coroner who examined the body says there is no evidence of warmbiers teeth being tortured. Warmbiers parents did not request an autopsy and the coroner says without that there is no knowing exactly what happened. The states recommendations will be ratified in november. New this morning the Fremont Unified School district may build a new school. The school board heard from people in the Community Last night. The district says the new Junior High School will go up on the horse property behind mcdonds on fremont boulevard. Several schools will convert to middle schools meaning sixth, seventh and eighth grade students will attend. The district has a timeline to make those changes through the 2022 23 school year. The population is booming across Silicon Valley and its straining some School Districts but maybe not for long. We looked into the projections overnight and the report from may 2015 says the number of School Aged Kids will actually go down in the coming years.
