with the july month hitting record temperatures, it was also slightly warmer at about 0.2 of a degree above the historical temperature. sea surface temperatures are also very hot. you may have heard some talk about the blob and the hot weather, the hot sea surface temperatures over the pacific. well, the record warmth continuing along with air temperatures, at the water temperatures are heating up, too. bay averages anywhere from 63.6 in half moon bay, santa cruz 69.8. even warm when you average the high and low temperatures each day throughout the month it was above average here, too. and even though it was warm because of the remnants of dolores, we had a record wet month, too. if you can believe it, but we only had 0.4 of an inch. that was above average. so we set some records there, too. and it's still very dry, even though we had a little bit of rain during that month, we're still in a severe drought, and the state of emergency continues with the exceptional drought conditions here. and there's no rain in the forecast, so of course we've been looking ahead to el nino to see if that does anything, but that doesn't happen until the fall months, or into the winter. so as we go into the next several days, it will be at least mild. it's right now 73 degrees in the east bay, san francisco 68 degrees, and that also will be the high temperature today. we'll see the clouds from the bay area. our air quality still fairly good. that will continue as we head into the weekend. we keep that westerly wind today, giving us the morning clouds and afternoon sunshine, and the 1wer8 wind kicks in and allows for a surge and warmer air by this weekend. highs will be in the 70s and 80s, just a bit warmer than today, but not talking about scorching temperatures for the next weather you'll see this weekend. i'll have details in the microclimate forecast. itoulgetvenorerowd well, it's summer to get even more crowded along the corridor in the silicon valley. a million square foot office campus is planned for north san jose. take a look at the area we're talking about. it's anchor road near montague expressway. you know it's already a bustling place. according to the bay area newsroom, boston property submitted plans to building two buildings there. boston property says that it is in negotiations with a, quote, ver large tenant, fueling the speculation, apple or another tech giant might move in, but we know that apple recently bought another large piece of property on north street at component drive, also in north san jose. reportedly -- the company reportedly paid more than $138 million for the property. experts think that apple will build a campus there for about 15,000 workers. that property is next to a 290,000 square foot building recently leased by apple, and incidentally, it is directly across the street from where our studios are. >> $138 million. do we get finder's fees? i remember i saw that before they started building. >> i don't think that qualifies. >> our reward for this weekend is another spectacular day. meteorologist kari hall, what a contrast to last weekend when we could not leave the house. >> i know. we were breaking records with that sizzling heat that we had descending on the bay area. this weekend, i'll be happy to tell you that it won't be like that. we start out with clouds near the coast, and you do have some low visibility in some spots. then as we go into the inland areas, it will be mostly sunny and a seasonal day. right now at 63 degrees in the north bay, 68 in san francisco, south bay is at 73 degrees as we get a closer look at the east bay in brentwood, it's 80 degrees. we do still have some 60s on the map here in alameda, and hayward hills at 69 degrees. with our temperatures still fairly comfortable, we had a wind that will continue to come in from the west. up to about 10, 15 miles an hour through the day, becoming more breezy, as you head home, going out for dinner, you will definitely want to hold on to your hat as the wind continues to pick up. today's high, 76 degrees. and the rest of the microclimate shows some 70s in the north bay, oakland 74, and danville today, topping out at 84 degrees. so the air quality is so much better, remember last weekend, we had the smoke drifting in from the wildfires from the north. well you now that we do have an onshore flow, the air quality has returned to normal levels. it's still approaches the moderate amount, as we see the gradual shift of the air blowing off to the east, but we do still have some wildfires in the area. the air quality will continue to improve this weekend, and this mainly affects those with breathing problems, if you have at sthma. at least with the comfortable weather, you don't have to do that. a lot of sunshine, and temperatures staying in the upper 70s. a breeze kicking in later on today. highs will be in the 70s, dropping back into the 60s. later on tonight with mostly clear skies. it will be turning breezy this weekend. we do have a cool westerly winds, giving us the clouds, coastal fogs, as this area of low pressure gets closer, we'll have more of a southwesterly wind. that allows for a bit of a surge in warmer air, but it won't be really warm. just a few degrees. and the tri-valley will be in the upper 80s, peninsula in the lower 80s, and the south bay will be around 86 degrees on sunday. sam and kris? thank you very much, kari. a refreshing weekend. up next, a look at what's going on in the bay area and who else our local expert. mike inouye has a look. >> he has
