contained and we're moving in the right direction there. that we have jump started a process to solve the civil war in syria which is like an open sore in the region. and is giving refuge to terrorist organizations who are taking advantage of that chaos. to make sure that in iraq not only have we pushed back isil but we've also created an environment in which sunni, shia and kurd are starting to function more effectively together. and to be in conversation with all of those in the region so they feel they can address any potential threats that may come including threats from iran. and that includes assurances and cooperation to israel building on the unprecedented cooperation that is put in place. it includes the work we've done with the gcc up at camp david making sure we execute that. if we'd done those things then the problems in the middle east will not be solved. and ultimately it's not the job of the president of the united states to solve every problem in the middle east. the people of the middle east are going to have to solve some of these problems themselves. but i think we can provide that next president at least a foundation for continued progress in these various areas. the last thing i would say, and this is a longer term issue, is we have to address the youth in the region with opportunity and a better vision for the future. so they are not tempted by the nihilistic violent dead end that organizations like isil offer. again, we can't do that entirely by ourselves, but we can partner with well intention eded organizations, states ngos religious leaders in the region. we have to do a better job of that than we've been doing so far. all right. >> we'll now pause for just a moment while some stati and we've been listening into the president answering questions about the iran nuclear deal and certainly trying to win folks over in what will be a long campaign of persuasion. we'll be continuing to cover there in the newscast itself. we're monitoring the president's comments, as he continues to talk. in the meantime let's talk about what we do know so far. president obama trying to explain to the american public why the iran deal is good for america and the world. he says this deal does not solve all our problems with iran but it does deal with the major issue -- keeping nuclear weapons out of the country. >> six world powers reached this historic deal yesterday. it aims to limit nuclear capability, in exchange for lifting punishing economic sanctions many includes the president, still don't feel iran can be trusted. >> the deal continues to face harsh criticism in congress and really in other nations around the world as well but for the first time we are now hearing reaction from the people of iran itselves. nbc bay areas's alia ruzi has more more. >> is it looked more like the rio carnival. they were flashing victory signs, waving the flag with pride and we are happy about the fact they may be coming in from the cold. >> i'm really happy about it you know we were waiting for that for about ten years. >> in the spontaneous celebration, there was no "death to america" or anybody else. there was just love for the whole world community, wanting to become friends again. people were even shouting obama, we love you. no doubt the man of the hour was prime minister rueouhani. people were thanking him. now in iran people are still waiting for things to change, but this could be the beginning of a new stage for iran with the world community and possibly with america. today president rouhani said the deal will be completed and iran will not be viewed as a threat throughout the world anymore. that's music to the ears of the iranian people. that's exactly why the people voted for president rohanuhanirouhani. nbc news tehran. >> thank you. let's talk about what is happening locally. negotiations now coming down to the wire between the city of san jose and its police and firefighters. both are trying to hash out a deal to keep the city safe keep officers on the job as well. nbc bay area's bob redell has been following the developments in the story. he has the latest from san jose. >> reporter: scott the police and fire unions are threatening to stay the city of san jose back to court if both sides can't reach an agreement by midnight tonight. within the past you are union negotiators came back to resume talks with the city manager over cuts to retirement benefits. this after 16 hours of talks yet that ran until 2:00. at issue is measure b, which you might wall voters approve back in to 12 to scale back -- well police and fire took the city to court. for the past several months s both sides have been trying to settle this issue. we spoke with both the unions and the city this morning. neither would be specific about what the hangup is in coming to an agreement that would satisfy the court. are you optimistic. >> i think it depends on who you ask and when. >> i think we're all hopeful that we have accomplished a lot. the discussions have been done constructively and positively with all the feedback i have had heard, but when you get down tower wire even though you've taken care of a lot, there are some tough nuts. >> the issues are in and out insurmountable. we are watching greece and iraq nuclear deal those issues are being resolved yet san jose is bringing up to the wire with issues that absolutely can be resolved today. we hope the city shows up ready to finish this and put police officers back into the neighborhoods and end this nightmare of sfameasure b. >> stephanie chuang has details, and stef we were talking this is not the first time this has happened. >> that's right carissa. the second time in less than a week. people are unsettled. >> it's unnerving. >> reporter: just a few hours away on the 200 block of emerson called 911 in a panic. she woke up to find a man staring back at her. >> she heard a now as if someone was banging on the outside of the window. she opened the blinds to see the face of a person. >> reporter: it's the second report of a prowl ner less than a week. just six days before rulely 2 1/2 miles away on moffett circle a 14-year-old girl getting water spotted a man in her backyard. the man in yesterday's case was standing on a driveway and didn't need to get through any barriers. >> what's different about these cases, in that case the suspect would have had to get into the backyard somehow. either hop a fence, go through a gate or something like that. >> the two reports have some neighbors worried. >> a few months ago someone had jumped the fence and climbed over. i'm not sure what he was doing, but the neighbor woke up in the middle of the night, saw him and called police. >> reporter: this woman said years ago she came face-to-face with a stranger. >> yeah it was frightening. sure it is no doubt she and others blame the activities in the area that's boom in the last five years. according to police there's no indication of any up tick nor my impact from the nearby bars or restaurants. still people like stern are wondering if there are actions to take. >> i honestly don't have that mentality. maybe i should. >> they did arrest minors back in march for daytime burglaries but no real crime trends to take note of neighbors say the overnight officer are looking for -- they're knott going to add patrols, but they are very aware of the latest records. up next at 11:00, uber settle details on an agreement with the family of a little girl who was struck and killed by one of their says conducting sales as well. the amazon deals are only open to prime members. the people who pay a yearly fee, but get free shipping. now we'll be honest with you, a lot of the deals that we have been looking at today are not all that interesting. a lot of people on the internet complaining it's a big like an amazon garage sale. the west deal we could find honestly was buying amazon gift certificates, because you got a discount on amazon. let's talk about some of the other news that's making news in business news. netflix split its stock today. it is now a $100 stock as compared to a $700 to be. the best performing stock, by the way. in the s&p 500 this year. this sounds more complicated than it really is. let's say you have a stock at $7 it could be any number but i'm going to do a z easy numbers. now i have seven shares worth $1. you haven't made any money or lost any money. it gives the stock room to grow again, more people can afford to buy at that lower price. i can't not talk about greece. the parliament votes today whether to accept the european bailout. remember the greek people voted no less than two weeks ago to a different deal. also today a big announcement from the international monetary fund is it let by christine lagrande. in fact the imf says if the eurozone won't agree to this it's just not going to work at all. the euro was not set up for this, and lot happening. we have low pressure in control across the desert southwest. also another area of high pressure but our attention has been across the pacific. look at that. that's a category 4 hurricane making its way towards cabo. tomorrow temperatures go up just a bit. a few 90s for the tri-valley but then the heat peaks on friday with 90s for the tri-valley 10s for most of the bay area. the other thing that will be interesting as we move towards this weekend, hurricanes dlorz. it is a powerful category 4 hurricane. the sam fir simpson scale only goes up to 5. this is just one category away from being one of the most powerful hurricanes we would see across this part of the continent. it will weaken but it's not going to lose a lot of its moisture. by send it will be just a couple hundred miles south of los angeles. that brings me to this. as we move towards sunday night into monday there is a possibility we can't get some of this action as the moisture streams up here because of high pressure in the four corners region, that would give us a good chance of thunderstorms and moisture here. the better chance noted by the orange and reds down palm springs, san diego,
