Reporter first of all, we know it was a. 40 caliber weapon probably sig sauer or clock issued to an agent, they call them rangers with the bureau of land management. The bureau says that it was a Service Weapon issued to the agent who was here in San Francisco on official business when the gun was stolen from his car. The agency says the ranger reported the theft immediately to San Francisco police but because the weapon is now part of a homicide investigation, police arent saying when or where the theft took place. Meanwhile, the man accused of using that weapon is telling a completely different story. In his interview with telemundo, Francisco Sanchez says he found the gun wrapped in a cloth. In spanish, he asks this gun was not yours. Thats what youre telling me . The shooting suspect replies, no, it was different from the ones that police have. I didnt see it. It was this big in the piece of cloth was like this. He added they come from a state like chihuahua, and they brought by a can kid from there. At that point, sanchezs lawyer walked in and stopped the interview, but nothing in the suspects statement coincides with what we know about the weapon. A woman found with gunshot wounds and tonight investigators are trying to figure out who shot her. It happened yesterday on the corner of alameda and capital streets. A Police Officer found the woman, 25yearold gina estevez with gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital but she died from her injuries. Police are trying to track down leads and right now no suspects in custody. Better hold on to your purse. San mateo police are looking for baggrabbers and they look like the people in this sketch. These two tried to rob a hillsdale mall shopper last month. The pair demanded her purse but took an empty box instead. The suspects did take off in white 90s sedans similar to a nissan sentra. They are described as africanamerican in their early 20s. An east Bay Community on edge after a coyote killed a familys cat. It jumped into a fencedin yard and attacked the pet. It was just a bit shocking and eerie to see it looking in our yard. She just liked to lay on her back and we would rub her tummy, and that was a trick we called rolly poly. Reporter joannes devastated her family pet became prey. She and her neighbors have lived right up to the open space for years, without worrying about the wildlife. This is near mt. Hope cemetery. Just this past week multiple sightings have been reported including one by a driver just this morning. Officials believe the Mountain Lion could be coming down from a small Mountain Range behind the cemetery. Four Mountain Lion sightings in the past couple weeks in the sea cliff neighborhood. A cougar also seen. The 1,000 block of goff street. Authorities believe it could be the same Mountain Lion. Dont run or make sudden movements. Instead, make eye contact and yourself appear big. Lets turn things over to meteorologist jeff ranieri, tracking what may be a potpourri of different styles of weather going on. Multiple lightning strikes north of marin, napa and sonoma counties. You can see a widespread mix of thunderstorms throughout the sierra, most notably near clear lake and lake port. Strong thunderstorms over the past 45 minutes have continued to evolve with multiple lightning strikes towards the highway 101 corridor. Youre going to want to be on alert here with these strong thunderstorms producing a half inch to 1 inch of rain per hour and again the lightning. Remember if you are close enough to hear that thunder, youre close enough to get struck by the lightning. So now is not the time to be outside trying to get some sort of picture for your twitter or instagram. Well talk about our thunderstorm chance in a mommy. I want to take you outside of the Sky Camera Network and drastically different conditions than not only yesterday but than what we experienced with a lot of last week with that hot, hot and sunny weather. South bay right now at 75. The east bay coming in with 74. And as we take the camera looking right back towards San Francisco, you can see the cloud line is lowering. We have gusty winds now that are definitely a sign of the storm system on the increase now. So lets take you into the morning forecast and the biggest change well find for the morning commute is not only the cloud cover that we have been dealing with in the Morning Hours but all locations will have the chance here of some spotty showers with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s. I really think the best chance of any accumulating rainfall in the morning would be right up into the north bay with 57 degrees. Lets get a look at the storm system and really the key change for tomorrow is the fact that this storm is going to be moving just to the south right below San Francisco. Counterclockwise spin around this, pulling in the moisture which produces the best chance of thunderstorms from 3 00 to 8 00 p. M. For tomorrow. Now on rainfall totals we havent seen a big shift in this. Highest would be up near reading, red bluff and chico, possibly over an inch near lake tahoe. A half inch to an inch. Bay area not a whole lot. Trace amounts to maybe. 500 of an inch. Its not a lot. It will help the fire danger very slightly. And we really think that best chance of thunderstorms would be here across the north bay. Totals anywhere from trace amounts to. 300 of an inch in locations. The micro climate forecast we highlight some areas that have a better chance of showers than others. We think of the south bay, los gatos and 77 degrees. The peninsula, 63. Palo alto, mostly cloudy and 74. All of San Francisco, the potential here of some drops with winds out of the westsouthwest at 15 and youll also notice the humidity on the increase. The tri valley we continue to pinpoint the best chance of thunderstorms here in napa with 75 degrees. Also santa rosa at 73. Oakland, chance of showers and 66. And for the tri valley best possibility for lightning livermore and 78. It again is not a major, major storm system. Youre just going to want to keep your eye to the sky, because again, we get any lightning strikes, we may actually see wildfires sparked by that. Of course, you can get more any time at nbcbayarea.
