That breaking news coming out of the south bay tonight. A suspect is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after being shot by san jose police. We have been on the scene all night long as information from police slowly trickles in. Good evening, im diane lim right away. Lets get to abc seven News Reporter tara campbell, who has been following this breaking situation all night. Tara yeah. Dion. Police say this call came in at around 4 00 this afternoon with reports of a man shooting airearm. San jose Police Say Officers responded to this area along como, como drive in east san jose. This is right near the intersection of story road and the capital expressway. Now you can see it was a very active scene earlier this evening. San jose Police Claims the suspect was still shooting a firearm when they arrived. Police say the suspect was hit by officer gunfire and taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and that no officers were shot. Police giving this brief update on seen video evidence. We have to review Body Worn Camera video that we have to look at witnesses we have to interview, as well as the officers have yet to be interviewed. So theres still a lot of information. We dont know. Were learning things as theyre developing at this time. We dont think theres any other injuries other than the suspect, but we are still canvasing, combing through evidence to determine whether or not there are additional victims. And were asking the public if they saw anything, if they were involved at all prior to Police Arrival to please contact the police department. Now. We also spoke with a neighbor living in the apartment complex where the shooting happened. He says he was on his way home when police were arriving and just cop after cop after cop. So, i didnt think they were going to be here though. So when i made the corner came in and i seen everything taped off, it was actually pretty, pretty crazy. It was a little bizarre scene of seeing all the cop cars come here. You know, i have, actually another daughter, so its a little concerning because theyre both little girls and were constantly taking walks, and, its a little alarming to know that that happened here. Now, police say they will be holding a press, a press conference sometime tomorrow with more information. In the meantime, they say any other updates will be on their social media accounts. Dion. And we will stay on top of it. Tara. Thank you. Moving on to more breaking news now coming out of the middle east tonight, Iranian State media is reporting the president of iran is dead after a Helicopter Crash also killed irans foreign minister and seven other people. That helicopter went down in a remote part of the country early sunday morning local time. There it took search teams nearly 15 hours to find the wreckage as they battled dense fog and extreme cold. We dont know exactly what caused the crash yet. The president is the second most powerful person in irans government, after Supreme Leader ayatollah khomeini. This is already a fraught time for iran. Facing escalating tensions with israel and protests within the country, the white house says President Joe Biden has been briefed on the situation. Now to the battle brewing in the quaint San Francisco neighborhood of noe valley, a sidewalk mural originally made to oppose israels military campaign in gaza is being defaced by hate speech. While the numbers on the mural arent officially congruent with the united nations, the message is clear. Abc seven News Reporter j. R stone is following the story and has more on the contentious back and forth. Its very one sided, it is very violent and it is not a call for peace. Matt, who has asked that we not use his last name, is giving us his opinion about this mural in San Franciscos noe valley. One that he walks by every day with his child and one that reads stop the genocide in gaza. Now hed like to see a message conveying a cease fire and release of hostages. Matt showed us the section that angers him most. So that dollar sign replaces a jewish star and historically for all time replacing a jewish star with money has been patently antisemitic. The Jewish Community Relations Council says they have received numerous complaints about this mural. The message is outrageous. Its a form of blood libel against the Jewish Community. The bloody visuals, the droppings star of david replace the star with a dollar sign. Its a classic trope that jews control the government or some form of manipulation, and it reads like textbook antisemitism at least one parent from this nearby daycare told us they dont think its right that their children have to see these red images every day. Some neighbors we spoke with disagree and dont want the mural touched. I can understand that you know that for children it can be sensitive. However, this is the reality. The children in gaza have no choice but to see. You know, theyre seeing their family members dead, in the streets. So you dont have a problem with it up like it is. Well, i dont think its very neighborly, but at any rate, no, i dont have a problem. The mural has been defaced numerous times in recent weeks, but the artist has fixed it each time. As to what comes next. That is unclear. This mural is on private property and we were unable to reach the owner regarding his future plans. J. R. Stone, abc seven news. Our Media Partners at the sf standard report, the supervisor representing that district, rafael mandelman, is aware of the defacements and working with San Francisco police. Our requests for comment to supervisor mandelsons office were not returned. New developments now in the case of david depape. A federal judge is now reopening his sentencing on friday. Depape was given 30 years in prison after being convicted of attacking congresswoman Nancy Pelosis husband, paul, with a hammer at their San Francisco home. Now, the judge says they will review his sentence again because he did not get a chance to speak during the sentencing hearing. A new sentencing hearing has been scheduled for tuesday, may 28th. He was assassinated inside city hall in 1978, along with mayor george moscone. His advocacy for lgbtq plus rights, though, has lived on, and harvey fought again that as he was representing this neighborhood and this community. Now the queer arts featured art gallery. It was followed by a musical performance, a procession and a presentation by Community Leaders in jane warner plaza. New developments tonight for San Franciscos iconic sea lions at pier 39. They are coming back. About two weeks ago, the docks were mostly empty, as you see here, as crews made repairs causing a temporary disappearance in the sea lions. Now, the harbormaster told us they had to fix the damage from the week before, when sea lions showed up in record numbers. But check out this scene. Whoa from earlier today. Those docks, as you can see, filling up once again, the harbormaster tells us a big school of anchovies is swimming near the farallon islands, making for a sea lion feast in the bay. The first week of may. You may remember, pier 39 saw more than a thousand sea lions, the most they have seen in 15 years. This has been so fun to see in real life. I took my little son out and you could hear them from like blocks away. Yeah, theyre loud. Yeah, yeah. And a little smelly. Yeah, they are from eating the anchovies. Well. Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, yeah. Well, it was a nice day for sunning yourself down at pier 39. And weve got some more nice days coming our way. Heres a satellite radar composite image. Right now, traffic is a little slow at this late hour of the night. Its 53 up north at santa rosa, petaluma down to 45 degrees. Pretty chilly there already. Low to mid 50s at napa, fairfield, concord and livermore. And now lets check out our forecast headlines tomorrow is warmer a warmer pattern begins tuesday and wednesday. Itll feel almost like summer. Were going to have high temperatures climbing. Well into the upper 80s in some inland locations. And by the end of the week, well see breezy and sharply cooler weather developing. So lots of changes coming quickly in just a short span of time overnight. No clouds. Well, very few clouds. It will be mainly clear all the way through the overnight hours and into the early morning. So we start the day tomorrow with bright sunshine, overnight lows under clear skies will drop a little bit lower than theyve been the last couple of nights. Its been pretty mild overnight the last two nights or so, but tonight look for lows in the mid to upper 40s in our inland areas. Upper 40s to about 50 near the bay. Not a chilly night, but certainly a little cooler than the last 2 or 3 nights. Tomorrow will be sunny and mild, almost warm. Well see up to about 60 at half moon bay, 67 San Francisco around the bay shoreline. Highs will be mainly in the low to mid 70s and up to about 8082 degrees in the warmest inland spots. Places like santa rosa, fairfield, antioch and concord. Now, as we skip ahead and check out the maximum temperature trend on tuesday, upper 80s in our inland east bay areas fairfield, antioch, 88 degrees. Its likely somebody will check a top out at about 90 on tuesday. Then on wednesday, still quite warm inland. Well see some mid 80s there, but cooling will begin near the coast in bay and on thursday pretty much the same pattern. The continuation of cooling near the coast. But the warmth will be holding on inland. Heres the accuweather seven day forecast. And look at that change coming at the end of the week from summerlike warmth on tuesday and wednesday to almost fall like cooling on friday and saturday, with high temperatures dropping to the mid 70s inland on friday and even lower on saturday and sunday. Now, next weekend looks like its going to be a dry one with mainly sunny days and a few clouds around, but its going to be very, very chilly for late may 72nd. Inland will be the high on saturday and only mid 60s low 60s around the bay shoreline. So quite a change from whats coming our way tuesday and wednesday.
