Governor newsom signing a bill into law saturday day mandating Media Literacy be taught in k through 12 classrooms as use of the internet grows and as technologies like ai become more sophisticated and misinformation becomes more complicated. We think its important that californias young people are taught Media Literacy standards. The move comes as a growing number of young people are turning to social media to stay informed. A recent survey from common sense and surveymonkey showing 55 of teenagers are getting their news from social media at least three times a week. And according to a 2020 survey from the pew research center, the majority of teens today use youtube and tiktok every day. And some report using these sites almost constantly.
