Now overnight tonight, we are expecting the temperatures to drop off at least for those who dont have ac, its nicer to be able to sleep at night and then in the afternoon, those temperatures are soaring again. And ill be back to let you know exactly where they will end up in just a few minutes larry. Kristin all right, sandhya, thank you. My house feels like a heater at the moment at escaping the San Francisco heat at baker beach. I was lucky enough to recently get a box for just the bedroom, but the rest of the house is really hot, so we all kind of buckle up in the bedroom when its really that hot shoes off and picnic blankets out as the city faces whats likely to be one of the hottest days of the year. We heard it was going to be like 80, 85 degrees today. So were like, why dont we do a beach day . Jordan daniels lives in oakland and says its rare to get a hot beach day like this in San Francisco. So not typical at all. Usually were in like sweaters have our jackets on. I love it being in australian, this is like heaven for me. I love living in San Francisco, but its just simply not warm enough. And across the Golden Gate Bridge, plenty of tourists still making the trek. We walk the Golden Gate Bridge this morning and it was beautiful. It was nice and cool. Some rising early to get ahead of the heat. We did. We did get here a little bit early so that we could beat the heat. When you were planning this trip, were you expecting this kind of heat . No no, no. We thought in San Francisco it will be much not so hot. We are on holiday. So we take it as it comes. So no problem. Meanwhile, back at the beach, concerns about the climate. Ive been coming here since i was before i was born. Let me just say that. And ive never seen it this way. Its scary. Its so hot. Glenda hudson is visiting from denver with her granddaughters. This is the first time ive come to this beach. And its not like, you know, 60 degrees. But at the same time, its kind of scary that thats actually happening. Yeah. And as we heard there, obviously, obviously the climate is a concern. Another big concern in the city is the thousands of People Living on San Franciscos streets, the city opening up some of its Public Libraries to act as cooling centers today. And the local nonprofits are also stepping up their outreach efforts. Larry and kristen, tara, thanks so much. Well, onlookers felt the heat at the first fleet week air show of the weekend. The blue angels air show highlights fleet week, which residents say is one of San Franciscos main events. I love jets. I love the military. I, you know, walking around, i thought like, man, if i was younger, i wish i kind of wish i would have joined a branch. Sunnyvale resident Brandon Leckie is one of the many embracing the energy of the armed forces by braving out hot temperatures in San Francisco to celebrate an event that began over four decades ago. Im just taking it in. I dont even totally know what to expect because ive never been to an air show like this before. Its not just the navy all Public Service groups showed the public a glimpse of what they do. Some showing if they have what it takes to be in the armed forces. Children sat inside plane cockpits. Others learned life saving measures like cpr and some toward a mobile hospital put up by the marines. The fact that that we can come out here and do this and tell our story and just participate in this great event as our sea service is with the coast guard and the navy. Its really special for us. Fleet week officials are also honoring military members for their work in helping the community. At fridays ceremony. They are acknowledging christopher cox, a navy member who helped somebody who has been a victim of a stabbing earlier in the year in san diego. There was a gentleman that was just bleeding out on the sidewalk. And so i went over to his aid and he was bleeding pretty badly. So i provided medical care following his honoring is when the air show began in all leading to the big event of the day, the blue angels. It kind of feels like a movie, honestly, when i think of jets in the golden gate, i just think of like, you know, godzilla or some type of movie where jets are flying around. So i think thats what im most excited for is just experience that in real life. Well, thankfully, its not as destructive as a godzilla movie, but given the fact that you are hugging the sunny bay line shore in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. Yeah it can kind of seem like youre in a movie at times here in San Francisco. Also fleet week officials, they are dedicating this entire weekend to the late senator dianne feinstein. The Union President says that acting us secretary of labor julie su has been speaking to both sides and may even be part of next weeks negotiations. Some labor experts, though, say that if the Biden Administration gets involved, that could be an advantage for kaiser power. Were kind of power and power. Yes. The president supports the strikers. The core of everything is we just dont have enough people to do the job. Kaiser has refused to give us information that we believe were entitled to. One the union says the workload has increased, which impacts patient care. They want 10,000 new employees to be hired. In an email to abc seven news on tuesday, kaiser claims the demand to hire 10,000 employees has been met. They say theyve filled 10,000 positions. Reagan announced on friday to employees at kaiser walnut creek that acting us secretary of labor julie su is now getting involved. I think shes already begun to get involved and is playing a valuable role and i believe shell be. Shes willing to continue to be involved and help us get to an agreement when the government steps in, theyre stepping in effectively on the side of the employer. Professor robert oaks, a union member himself, says the Us Department of labors involvement may force kaiser back to the bargaining table. But he adds, when the government gets involved, it often forces workers to concede some of their demands. My concern here is that if they step in and an and pressure the union not to strike a second time, that they may not achieve their main demand. Still, reagan is optimistic that the end is in sight. Its not that its too complicated. Theres too many points of disagreement. It really is. This needs to be done. Lets do the right thing. We think we can have it done next week. Well welcome to our chapel sister margaret diener, showing us what she calls the gem of the dominican sisters of san rafaels convent. This chapel inspired in neoclassical design. The chapel modeled after a Dominican Monastery in england, is part of the Santa Sabina Center, a nondenominational place for meditation and spiritual retreat. People who come here come home to recover a sense of themselves built near Dominican University in 1939, the center originally housed young women preparing to enter the religious order. It was the Prayer Chapel for the sisters to celebrate morning and evening prayer together here.
