Eight republicans voted to remove him along with 208 democrats. Florida congressman matt gaetz spearheaded the motion to vacate the chair after mccarthy worked with democrats to pass a spending bill that would keep the government open until mid november. So now gates and a small group of conservative republicans voted with those same democrats to remove mccarthy. And abc news is reporting that mccarthy does not plan to run for speaker again. Nancy pelosi by the way, the only california democrat who did not vote to oust mccarthy. Thats because she was not in washington. Shes here in california for fleet week. And the Memorial Service for the late senator Dianne Feinstein and the person appointed to replace feinstein was sworn in today in washington, d. C. The search continues for the hit and run driver in a San Francisco collision that seriously injured a woman. That accident at fifth and market streets also involved a cruise vehicle which rolled over the woman after she was initially hit. Abc7 News Reporter lena howland got a look at cruzs dash cam video of that incident and has more on the investigation. Graphic dash cam video from cruz reviewed by staff at abc7 shows shows a black sedan slam into a woman in a crosswalk at fifth and market. The impact was so severe it launched the woman into the next lane directly in front of a driverless cruise taxi which ran her over. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to pull the woman out from underneath the cruise car. We have not seen a vehicle collision involving injuries of this nature with an autonomous vehicle. Any incident involving the injury of anyone on our streets is a big concern for the police. We need to make sure that our streets stay safe, whether they be involving cars with drivers or cars that dont have drivers. San Francisco Police said Tuesday Morning they believe the cruise car wasnt the only vehicle involved in the crash, but the sedan fled the scene. The operator of that vehicle , were looking to identify the driver as well as locate the vehicle. Cruise officials said their vehicle operated as designed and started braking before impact. They released a statement overnight saying, our heartfelt concern and focus is the wellbeing of the person who is injured. And we are actively working with police to help identify the response able driver. Cruz is not publicly releasing the dash cam video of this crash because they say they do not want to compromise the Police Investigation and while fire officials described her injuries as serious yesterday, police said this morning they do not have an update on the victims condition. And investigation is now underway into a San Francisco public works employee caught on video knocking over a Street Vendors cart, sending its contents everywhere. Abc seven News Reporter luis pena went to the area where the incident happened to speak to vendors who say they want the city to intervene and luiz joins us live from the newsroom. Yeah, kristen, the San Francisco Public Works Department confirmed this was a food vending operation that took place on sunday. They said the Health Department directed them to impound carts, something that has been happening for over a month now. Street vendors tell me they feel mistreated. In a video that has now gone viral, a San Francisco public works employee can be seen pushing a Street Vendors cart condiments, onions, hotdogs and bell peppers end up on the ground while the worker can be seen picking up some of his cooking tools. I went to Fishermans Wharf area where the incident took place and didnt find any Street Vendors. Up the street on pier 33, we met six of them selling hot dogs and fruit. They confirmed knowing that Street Vendor in the video and said public works employees have been confiscating many of their carts. Last month, the city took six carts. In a statement, the citys Public Works Department said their workers are trained on deescalate techniques and regarding the video said in part, were still looking into what led up to that moment and the events that preceded. We strive to treat members of the public with respect during permit enforcement operations. In this circumstance, we did not meet that threshold and we apologize. Milka casimir said. They feel harassed and mistreated. She said this has happened before and showed us a video from another incident that happened a month ago. Several times. But like what you saw out there, like hot dog vendors, people selling fruit on the street there, currently, none of them are permitted. San franciscos department of Public Health said they do require a permit for Street Vendors to sell food. In San Francisco, though, and added in part, the Environmental Health branch also issues permits to mobile food vendors to lower the risk of foodborne illness and protect Public Health. Multiple investigations are now underway looking into the san jose Daycare Center where three children fell into a pool yesterday and two of those children drowned and both under the age of five. A third child who was found in the pool was rescued and is expected to recover. San jose police say theyve assigned the homicide unit detectives to work with the county das office in a criminal investigation into the happy, happy daycare on fleetwood drive in the Almaden Valley area. The Department Said investigators will be interviewing everybody involved, even looking through home Surveillance Footage from neighbors, although this isnt a homicide case, theyre the best detectives that we have available. And today students at Los Medanos College in pittsburg hosted a panel of east Contra Costa County leaders talking about what is being done to tackle issues around housing. Abc7 News Reporter answer hassan with more. Housing advocates say people are suffering in silence in east Contra Costa County. Brentwood, vicemayor Susanna Meyer says her city raised the inclusionary rate for the number of affordable units that must be built in new developments to 13. And remove inlieu fees which developers could pay instead of building low income housing. The developments that are being currently built will actually have to stand to that. And so we will, as we get more build out coming in, we will be getting more Affordable Housing coming in as well. Pittsburg mayor shanelle scales, preston spoke of several new projects underway, such as this one for low income veterans. She says there is no shortage of construction around the city. The challenge is funding to build Affordable Housing. I think the hardest part is getting the funding. You know, it comes from all these sources from the federal government. The state, it, you know, the county, you know, your city and then the non profit. And were trying to figure out how to put all that funding together to build that housing. Antioch mayor lamar thorpe says aside from the red tape, until theres better coordinated efforts, housing, the homeless will remain a big problem in antioch. We you know, weve invested in in in bridge housing, stabilizing people, getting them the Wraparound Services and then them getting them into housing. But im not sure were all doing that. And so thats concerning because were going to continue to see an explosion of Homeless People in our streets. Housing advocates like the group as, which is working in east Contra Costa County, says theyre encouraged, but that more still must be done.
