Butler is the current leader of the Political Action committee. Emilys list. The Group SupportsDemocratic Women candidates who favor abortion rights. Notably, she has served as an adviser to the Kamala Harris 2020 president ial campaign. Butler will be the only black woman to serve in the senate and the first openly lgbtq person to represent california in that chamber. Newsom says butler will step down from her. Emily emilys list role to assume the duties of senator and the governor. Also says butler will move from maryland back to california and rewrite register to vote here. Meanwhile the officer office of senator feinstein is releasing plans for her funeral arrangements this week. Feinstein will lie in state for public viewing at San Francisco city hall on wednesday from 9 a. M. To 7 p. M. A private Funeral Service is scheduled for thursday at the war memorial theater. That will be broadcast to the public at city hall. Feinstein took her final journey back home to San Francisco yesterday. Her body, accompanied by her daughter, kathleen, and former House Speaker nancy pelosi. People were out paying their respects along the way. She got everything together. It was a beautiful city. Its still a beautiful city. But she was very well known and she took care of San Francisco. She led during a dark time in the city and brought a beacon of light and hope to us. And she will be sorely missed. All throughout the city, senator feinstein loved this city and she fought for this city. And you can pay your condolences at city hall through wednesday. And what a sight as we caught that, we caught that is at Oakland Airport tonight, the first of the blue angels arriving with that unmistakable sound. And what a roar that was. The rest of the blue angels will be arriving this week with air shows coming on friday, saturday and sunday. The first 911 message came from Satellite Communications at 1030 this morning. Callers were at wildcat beach, north of bolinas, in a remote part of the Point Reyes National seashore. For there, a witness said a man was in the water with a group when a shark attacked him. Other members of the group managed to get out of the water. One ran to a camper who just happened to have a Satellite Phone which helped him bring this air medical chopper to the scene. There was it was a group that went up there for to celebrate someones wedding. And that it was someone with the group that went out into the water and got attacked. This is not a typical attack that weve heard of. So it does create some complicate options when you cant find someone in the water. Usually shark attack victims make it back to shore so they can be helped. Tonight, the Us Coast Guard tells us the search for the victim is ongoing. For emily machado, it means a lot of adrenaline and just kind of frantic scrolling, like trying to understand the Us Supreme Court ruled against the Biden Administration plan to forgive loans to over 40 million americans, including up to 20,000 of debt for those who received a pell grant offered to low income families. So because i come from a low income background, growing up, i was a pell grant recipient, so i was eligible potentially to receive up to 20,000 in cancellation as opposed to the standard 10,000 cash isolation due to income thresholds that were set, which dont take into account where youre living. Machado got nothing, and like many in her position, shes still left struggling with inflation and the overall high cost of living in the bay area. Its certainly overwhelmed coming out of college to a large pile of money that that needs to be taken care of. Im just trying to get a better grasp on kind of what what i need to do. According to the Us Department of education, borrowers should log in to their federal student aid website to update any information and find out who your loan servicer is to explore repayment options. These include autopay or income driven payment plans. Economist bryce gill says the impact is really dependent on income. So, you know, for example, you look at the average payment that people are going to have to make, its about 300 for people with undergraduate degree, it goes up to about 500 on average a month. For someone with a graduate degree. But the Biden Administration has passed whats called the save plan. The save plan is an income driven repayment plan. The white house says borrowers who make more than 15 per hour and enroll are expected to save about 1,000 more per year, compared to other payment plans, according to the most recent report compiled by the Public Policy institute of california. As of 2020, us borrowers hold about 1. 6 trillion in federal student loan debt, and millions of californians are responsible for more than 142 billion of it. But the program is rolling out some help. Gill explains. Its the on ramp transition period which protects your credit if you have missed or late payments. Just remember its temporary, so youre not going to be able to, lets say, five years from now, keep missing payments. Right . And have your credit score not be impacted.
