Airlift slowing down in the past two days. About 12,000 people flown out yesterday, down from 19,000 The Day before. In all, over 104,000 have been evacuated from the country by the Allies. 66,000 by the u. S. Alone. Now the largest humanitarian airlift in history. General mckenzies vowing to continue the airlift, but struggled to explain what went so tragically wrong. Well, clearly, if they were able to get up to the marines at the screening, at the entrypoint of the base, it was a failure somewhere. You can be assured were going to continue to look at it and try to make all our practices better as we go forward. They actually issued a statement, saying their fighter was able to overcome all the security fortifications, reaching a distance of, quote, no more than five meters from The American forces. How do they keep the airlift going, planes taking off, our Service Members there checking these evacuees, what does this look like in these few days left . Reporter you know, david, the numbers of people getting out of the country in the last couple of days has started to decline and this event is likely to see a continuation of that. This event underlines the enduring threat of terrorism in the country, not just isisk, Al Qaeda are still there, although diminished.
