Monday. It was noisy last night due to the winds. Thats part of the equation for the red flag warning. Outside the Santa Clara Valley were still dealing with the potential of damaging winds through at least 11 00 this morning. Now, you factor in drier air thats rolling in after 11 00, thats why we have the red flag warning thats going to extend until 5 00. It does not include the Santa Clara Valley. Youre missing out on both of these. The San Francisco bay shore and San Francisco also not in the red flag warning. Lets look at the winds right now, up in the Higher Elevations, still pushing well over 40 Miles Per Hour. Weve been up around 50 and 60 during the night. Thats why its been noisy in some neighborhoods. Down at the surface, seeing 37 at Half Moon Bay. 33 at fairfield. 24 in San Francisco. 31 in santa rosa. This is also going to help us push into record territory this afternoon from 66 in Half Moon Bay to 74 today in santa rosa and also in antioch i should say also in fairfield. Now, we have issues at our beaches and the potential fire threat in the sevenday forecast. Thats coming up. Here is reggie with more on todays red flag warning. All right. Thank you. Bay area firefighters were busy this weekend preparing for the potential fire danger that is stretching into today. Red flag warnings in december are rare. The last one happened in 2017. So with winds through tonight, firefighters are remaining vigilant. I dont think any of us thought we would be upstaffing and moving into a red flag and wind advisory for december. Its not typical for the bay area. The concern for winds like this, they will likely bring trees down. Pg e planned Public Safety power shutoffs across Northern California today but since the winds shifted a bit the utility opted to cancel most of those. No one in the bay area is expected to lose power. Four bay area counties are under a stayathome order this morning. Its a proactive measure aimed to help stop the spread of covid19. The order is in effect in alameda, contra costa, santa clara and San Francisco counties. Marin will join tomorrow. The counties are getting ahead of the states guidance which says they will reach that level because the icu level is at 15 . The lockdown is prompting changes that will last until january 4th at least. Theres no more indoor or outdoor dining. Restaurants can only do takeout and delivery. Hair and nail salons are no longer able to operate. Longer operate. There are no more indoor religious services. Capacity at Grocery Stores can be 20 . Wineries, Entertainment Centers and playgrounds are closed. While hiking trails are still open, parks, museums, campgrounds, Visitor Centers all closed. The owner of oh Beauty Studio in san jose already five months behind on her rent. If this closing kept happening, i cant afford to pay rent. I might have to close down my business and take the loss. I dont think that closing is the answer. I think having stiff guidelines would be far better than that. We heard from some folks over at mr. And mrs. Hair salon where cuts went late into the night. During the overnight hours, the fire threat will be minimized. Lets talk about the byproduct of this dry air and breezes. When air moves from Higher Elevation to lower elevation, it tends to compress and heat. Near record highs today. Low to mid 70s out there. Only places like livermore, lake port and Half Moon Bay in parts of the peninsula in the mid to upper 60s. Tonight will be cooler than this morning with the lack of breezes out there and the dry air.
