They are. I want to show you current winds. They are strongest through parts of north bay. Napa gusting to 35 Miles Per Hour. Fair field 38 Miles Per Hour. We see strong gusts in the east bay. Oakland and hayward and concord. Over 35 Miles Per Hour. If we go to the Higher Elevation its stronger than that. Check out mount hood. Gusts up to 60 Miles Per Hour. These are the drying northeast winds. The wind advisory in effect until tomorrow. At 11 00. Gusts up to 70 Miles Per Hour. In some of the Higher Elevations. Watch out for the possible down trees and of course the Power Outages. Peek winds will be hitting over the next couple hours. Sounds good. Thank you. The high winds have forced pg e to shut off power to 631,000 customers across northern california. This event is by the far the largest we have experienced this year. The most extreme weather. Were entering a significant risk period. Were doing everything we can to reduce the risk of wild fire. All of that means turning off the pour. Pg e predicts 106,000 customers in the bay area will lose power by the time the process is pleat. Expected in an hour or so. They have posted this map on the web site. You can see each of the purple triangles marks a location of a Public Safety power shut off. The north bay was the first where it was cut tonight. Some people are frus at a timed after they lost power sooner than expected. Live now from glen. Where it looks like the power has been shut off there too. It certainly has. The winds have died doin in the last 20 to 30 minutes. One hour ago it was a different story. Leaves were blowing all over the place. We have used every light we have to focus on this tree. The branchs were whipping around every which angle. A different story now. 30 minutes makes a difference. However there are Major Concerns coming from business owners. Total darkness in the town. The Public Safety power shut off is in effect. The winds can be felt. The impact whipping tree branchs and flags. Restaurant owners are angry for what happened midafternoon sunday. At 3 00 boom power went out an hour before it was supposed to. It was really disappointing. We needed that time. I dont know if they saw winds coming early. And they chose to shut down. It was frustrating. There are dirty dishes in the dark because when the power went out so did any use of well water. Those from pg e say that of the more than 24 how outages, around 1,400 are due to weather. And likely high winds that caused an early outage. They are now just hoping they dont lose whats on ice in the freezing. A couple weeks ago we lost all the food in there. It was probably over 15, 20,000. Many residents have generators and are using them to power refrigerators. Many are growing frustrated over another shut off. Its getting awful tiring. Going through this. Its getting awful tiring and i have lived here all my life i havent seen anything like this. In the last three years. Everything is just so much harder right now because of the covid19. And fires. And Power Outages and its just everybody is saying i cant wait for 20 to be over. 2020 to be over. To 2021 wont be much better. Out here live specifically the town. You are only to see this house because some of the lights from our truck. We pan off that house and onto where im standing, im on the side of the roadway. It is completely dark. The power here is out. Likely not coming back until late tuesday. Just fraction of the 361,000 customers across northern california. In the east bay the Fire District put out a detailed map showing the areas it believes are at the highest risk to see fire. You can see them in orange. Theres a stretch from richmond. And another one in highway 24. That covering lafayette. On top of the potential for fire, there are planned Power Outages in Contra Costa County as well as the oakland hills. This College Student is not taking any chances. Just because for school, i need wifi. The Fire Protection district is staging crews in fire prone areas. The fires have accrued this summer. This is one of the most dangerous times of the year. Resources are ready to respond. Helicopters equipped with a medical response team. And a fire bucket to create a line of defense ahead of the ground crew. We call it dipping. We dip into the water and fly over the fire kp drop the water. Both crew members have to agree its safe to fly. If thats the case, they have to brng light. They are monitoring the weather conditions. As they gear up for deployment in the morning. Crews from east bay were called out this afternoon to repair a water main break. It happened in the 1,300 block of Martin Luther king, jr. Way. Police issued an alert advise r residents to avoid the area. Gunfire from officers during a man hunt have left a man in critical condition. Not far from the high school. Police were trying to pull over a driver for traffic violation. He took police on a chase and escaped by running from his car. Two officers in uniform then returned to the area in an unmarked car to search for him and say an unrelated car pulled up behind them. Officers say they fired after the driver pointed a gun in their direction. A neighbor said had saw the man after he was shot. I saw the police. There was a guy on the ground with a gun in his hand and the police were telling him get your hands up. Police tell us the man who was shot was noft the original suspect.
