Intern just showed up. Elsewhere, 59 half moon bay. Everybody else low to mid60s. Here is a look at the drizzle hanging in the air. All day good to be outside temperaturewise, just watch out for the tree pollen and strong sunshine. So here we are tomorrow evening, maybe going for a walk, eating some dinner outside, you can see the northerly winds kick in overnight, but there wont be much smoke for the northerly winds to pull down, so most of saturday will be okay. It will become more smoky sunday. And if it affects anybody, it will be those at risk. The rest of us will be fine. But it will get hazier and hotter as we head through the weekend. Good morning, everyone. The fog is the big story for your commute this morning. We dont have a lot of major actually no major crashes, just minor ones out there. So looking at the map for you, there are somesss eou te out there. The chp has issued a fog advisory for the bay bridge this morning as we check out a live look at the toll plaza where metering lights came on at 5 48 this morning. So just want to let y will be a slow ride once you hit the maze. And then a smooth ride into San Francisco this morning. And moving to Richmond San Rafael bridge, there is a fog advisory there as well. But it doesnt look as bad and much clearer as far as the ride. There is also a fog advisory for the Golden Gate Bridge. And coming up next, our day of giving to help people who have been impacted by the wildfires up and down the west coast. The head of the Northern California Coastal Region is joining us. And a live look outside, and thank goodness weve learned a lot more about the covid19 virus. Its real. And its dangerous. So, on behalf of all of us working on the front lines, please take it seriously. And while we dont yet have a cure or a vaccine, we do know how to keep you and your loved ones safe. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stay six feet apart. Do your best to stay out of crowded spaces. And get a flu shot, its even more important this year. We can do this. If we do it together. Welcome back. Cal fire is close to full containment on the burning in the north bay, it is 98 contained this morning. This is the fourth largest in california history burning more than 353,000 acres. Cal fire is also allowing people back into most areas affected by the czu complex. That fire at its peak had displaced nearly 77,000 homeowners in san mateo and santa cruz counties. This morning 921 people are still out of their homes. The czu fire is 95 contained. Abc 7 has partnered with the red cross and more than a dozen abc stations in california, oregon and washington to raise money for wildfire evacuees. So we want to welcome jennifer to the show, she is head of the red cross Northern California Coastal Region. Thanks for being with us. Good morning, thanks for having me. So we want to help obviously as many people as we can through you and i dont want my money to be lazy, so i understand that you have an announcement about a Bay Area Company that may be matching some of our funds . Yeah, i think that im not aware of that, maybe you know more than i do. Oh, okay. Live tv why dont you tell us about what the red cross is doing right now to help people who are in need. So believe it or not, this is like day 30 of this response that based on the lightning strikes we had on august 17th and what started those three large complex fires, and we had over 250,000 people evacuated from their homes. And weve been sheltering and feeding people, weve had over stang in hotels or one of our shelters in santa cruz. As you can imagine during covid, weve changed our policies and practices and try to avoid having shelters like we would normally have, although we have opened some with the state of californias assistance, weve been able to put people in hotels and put them up that way. And we are responding to those hotels and those families providing wrap around services, Mental Health as well. And then helping them on the road to recovery. Of course weve been feeding them. Weve served almost 90,000 meals and snacks since then. And were actually helping people get back to their homes if they have a home that is left and helping them clean up and helping with that effort as well. And and there are such different circumstances and people want to help out as much as they can. So talk about the day of giving and how people can help you in those efforts and what makes this day kind of unique. Were very appreciative of abc and what you are doing to help the support of the red cross. When you give to the red cross, majority of your dollars go directly to services. We keep our overhead very low and were able to do that because of the number of volunteers that we use and that are committed to the mission. When you see red cross people out, about 94 are and here in Northern California, we still have about 300 people still on the job. So well support people on the road to recovery and were doing that all over the west coast because you can imagine it is not just our fires here, there are about 100 fires burning here on the west coast. Jennifer, we are so happy to be ait ismang that pplha reay haor an jennifer. And if you want to donate, redcross. Org abc or call the number you, 866499give. Im excited. I do think that they have like a few Bay Area Companies that are matching, so we have to wait for when that will come out. But that will be huge to see how you everybody comes together to support the work that they are doing. I guess i let the cat out of the bag. You spilled the tea a little too early. Just want to make sure my money goes as far as possible. And having watched my parents lose their home to a fire, it is devastating. You dont realize it as we go through our day to day even during a pandemic, the house is where you shelter in place. And when you lose that, you lose all sense of security. So hopefully we can help all these people out and quickly. Lets take a look at what is going on in san jose. It is cloudy and 67 right now. And well talk about no spare the air alert today. Fog, drizzle to sunshine this afternoon. Foggy tonight, best chance of drizzle during tomorrow mornings commute and then rising high levels. We have cleaner air. And here is a look at the fog cast.
