Reporter neighbors mere the mandatory evacuation zone are keeping a close eye on the changing situation, and hoping that these flames die down. As we traveled along shamise road, you can see numerous smoke stacks. Look closer and youll see the fire. It ended up overtaking our ranch on thursday. Reporter jake is part of a small group of neighbors who has been fighting the flames since the lightning strikes last week before cal fire arrived with more firefighters. These are the moments the fire overtook their ranch. But because of the prep work they did involving tree removal and clearing, they saved all their structures. Some locations have not fared so well. On big ridge, fire tore through this home, leaving little to nothing. A fan and a couple of outdoor chairs are about all thats left. Every time you can save a structure its a win, you know. In the north ba evacuation warning and the woodward fire was issued an hour ago for areas in alima. It comes hours after the first mandatory evacuation of homes in west marin. An Evacuation Center is set up at the marin county civic center. More than 200 personnel have been brought in to fight the fire which is 5 contained. The woodward fire has scorched 2700 acres west of alima north of the sea shore. The lightning complex is burning in santa cruz and san mateo countys. Its torched more than 78,000 acres and has destroyed 276 structures. Were seeing some of the first video from the bonnie dune area in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It shows one home after another reduced to ashes on empire grade, sadly. Only brick chimneys reign at most of these home sites. Right now its still 13 contained. Cal fire says most of those destroyed are in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Already amateur brigades are formed to fight the fires.
