From sydney, australia, where a mother whale was trying to protect her calf from a crowd of surfers. She had the perfect weapon, using her powerful tail to whip them out of the way. Turning now to the battle over protecting children when it comes to sending them back to school. Some Teachers Unions are saying even one case should be enough to shut down an entire school. It comes amid new questions about rapid testing. I spoke earlier with dr. Yvonne maldonado. Good morning, dr. Maldonado. Thank you for joining us. In a second test administered yesterday in columbus, ohios governor, mike dewine, has tested negative for covid19. Earlier in the day, before he had a scheduled meeting with President Trump, he had taken a rapid test, and he tested positive. What does this say about the Testing Process and the reliability of testing . We know that rapid tests are very good for screening large numbers of people. But that the pcr tests, which he took later, are much more sensitive and specific, so less likely to have false positives. How many tests should a person take to make sure that they get the most accurate results . If a person has symptoms, they should probably go in and get as good a test as they can get. If somebody is going in without symptoms, the screening tests are usually pretty good. Although they wont be as accurate as, say, the pcr test that he had later. But usually if someone, a person doesnt have symptoms, you dont really need to have the more sensitive test. The president now says hes hoping to have a vaccine by november 3rd, election day. Democrats now want an independent panel to review the vaccine before its released. Do you think thats possible, and if so, are you concerned about the Public Perception that the vaccine is being rushed . I think that current methods to test vaccines and get them to the regulatory process are absolutely perfect the way they are. And those processes should be followed. Whether they take a long time or not. I dont think we should try to rush a vaccine at this time. I think its a mistake to provsn a cce ll be avlable. Nknow. We just in the middle of testing, and we are moving very rapidly, but we need to be safe as well. Lets talk about schools reopening. Theres a dispute between some in new york city with a proposal to close a school if multiple students from different classrooms test positive. But the Teachers Union wants a stricter guideline, its calling for schools to be shut down any time theres one single case in a school. What are your thoughts on that . I think having just one case shut down a school may be a difficult proposition for us going back to normal. But i do think there should be some kind of metrics developed to understand what would trigger the closure of one classroom versus a whole school. I think one is too few cases to do that. Our thanks to dr. Maldonado. Coming up, turning stale suds into fresh fuel. How anheuserbusch is putting stale beer from closed bars to good use. Bars to good use. Wduhe ith brewhall like this one, then were able to send it over to brewers and capture that waste back. Then we use that to brew fresh beer. We get fresh beer out to those venues. Youre utilizing waste along the process to make fuel . 35 years ago we started working with our bio energy, an anaerobic digesters. You dont want waste dumped down a drain anywhere, so its the right thing to do. Its sad, too, sad to see a keg go. Yeah, its terrible. I dont think people know the quantity of a keg of were going into a waste water stream can have negative effects. Yeah, thats right. Reporter once its decanted, the beer goes through the brew system. Talk about unprecedented times. Truly having to deal with the sheer volume of kegs returning. The brew system is just one part of our whole sustainability effort.
