Tale of two counties. Santa clara is officially in phase 2 of reopening. Retailers today opened up Curb Side Service because Health Officials say the curve is flattening. We wonder. Did shoppers return and how are the stores doing . Good evening. Thank you for joining us. Santa clara the county with the highest number of coronavirus cases is moving into phase 2 of reopening. The last bay area county to do so. Now some business and public spaces considered to be low risk can open with modification. We spoke to some who are eager to get back to business. I think its a positive sign. It shows that we have flattened the curve. It doesnt mean that businesses will just open up for curb side pickup and see the same revenue. Thats why ceo of Silicon Valley Central Chamber of commerce is happy the county is in phase 2. But also worried about the added burden on Small Businesses. Today the owner had two customers. But just to open her doors for curb side pickup this is what she had to buy. The mask. Gloves. Hand sanitizer. Bleaches to do the door way and hard surfaces. Out door malls should also be technically open. But we found more people out for a walk thap doing shopping. Were all timid. Well wait to see how things go first. Phase 2 means some businesses can open. It doesnt necessarily mean they will. Some questions no doubt on minds. Is it worth it and can they afford the required modifications . The answer depends on who you ask. Many big stores already have an online presence. Logistics for remote ordering. They just have to staff up. Businesses many smaller plazas like this have to figure out how to reach for example, shes taking orders through her cell phone. Its better to be reopening than closed. Its important for the public to step up and support the Small Business. This me memorial weekend will be a test. To shop or just enjoy out door public spaces that are open. Like this rose garden.
