We know President Trump wanted the shelterinplace lifted by Easter Sunday but the reality is here we are nowoly week, now good friday still in this temporary normal sheltering in place. We know it may be unusual and we know you may be away from your friends and family and we might not be able to celebrate as a community in person, but religious leaders here in the bay and really all across the world are doing everything they can to bring their church to you wherever you are, staying safe and staying inside. Now, we spoke to reverend Laurie Manning of Skyline Church in oakland that reminds us what we are doing right now, sheltering in place, is an act of love and sacrifice and thats what the Easter Holiday is truly all about. It doesnt matter who you are. We are connecting. Just because social distancing is in place and social events are in place. Love has not been canceled and we need love more than ever now. We need each other. Love isnt canceled and neither are services. He was moved to another ward where he will be monitored during in his recovery and in a statement his office said he is in, quote, extremely good spirits. Jobina, thank you. The death toll for the coronavirus has now neared 100,000 and with more than 1. 6 million confirms cases around the world. The International Monetary fund said the world should be prepared for economic fallout worst since the great depression. The bay area and Santa Cruz County eclipsed 500 positive tests and at least 119 people have lost their lives. A group of activists, attorneys and public defenders are calling for the release of all inmates from Alameda County san marita jail and 600 others released to prevent overcrowding. Civil rights activists say not releasing all could be deadly. Most of the remaining inmates are dangerous. 98 of those individuals are in here for serious, Violent Crimes including homicide, sexual assault, crimes against children and other crimes of serious public concern. Deputies say more than 50 inmates may be released by monday. Alameda County District attorney released a statement on the inmates release. This office takes very seriously the duty to balance a defenda defendants right with public safety. Governor newsom says plans to provide deep discounts on hotel rooms for workers. San francisco General Hospital campus could be the first to deploy a test to patients and Health Care Workersp. Arexcit it were getting. Reporter carol lynch is an associate professor and codirector of this clinical lab at San Francisco general where she and a team have tested 500 blood samples from 80 patients who were positive for coronavirus. So, we basically spent the last month validating the method. If you could see the increase and rise of antibody response over time because that has not been well characterized for this virus. Reporter they developed coronavirus antibodies 2 to 15 days after the onset of symptoms. Next week, lynchs lab will start using it on patients and employees within San Franciscos Public Health system. Antibodies can show if somebody has had a previos infection and this is important because we are not able to do swabs on every single individual in the population. If a Health Care Worker has the antibodies, then they would be at decreased risk of acquiring the virus, so, they could potentially be more on the front line of fighting this. The only risk is that we dont know for sure if antibodies, the presence of antibodies means that someone is immune. Were hopeful because that is what happens with many viruses.
