The wait line will be highly affected, expecting 30 to 40 of operators not to show up this week, and this is to minimize risk to the staff and to the public. During this global pandemic, San Francisco is silent. And starting this week, our streets will be emptier. Out of 68 active muni lines, only 17 will remain available. Tomorrow is going to be a mess. And i apologize in advance. The service will be deeply unreliable. There will be long gaps in service. Sfmta director Jeffrey Tumlin says the cutdown process will affect nearly bus line from the sunset to the Marina District. We will be using all night tonight to develop new schedules starting for tuesday and then having our full Service Rollout on wednesday, when we spend most of tomorrow putting up signs at the stops. Reporter approximately 400 muni operators are expected to not show up to work. Theres a lot of operators are upset, because a lot of people are just roaming about and theyre not doing essential stuff that they need to be doing. Reporter remaining anonymous, this muni operator agreed to speak to us. Do you feel like the plastic blockades that you have, the shields is, that enough . No. No. We dont have masks, either. As the covid19 crisis continues, sfmta says there are still 100,000 riders using money every day, many essential workers and one is royal anderson iii, he works in the food industry. How would you describe muni right now . It is like russian roulette kind of situation. Sfmta halted all Train Services and this weeks changes will be drastic. Sfmta says they should have a list of the lines that will remain open by this week. They also confirmed that so far five of their staff employees tested positive for covid19, including several operators. Most bay area transit agencies have cut service in response to the shelter miss nplace order and dwindling roidership. Bart service ends at 9 00 every night. Cal train has eliminated may weekday, many weekday trips including baby bullet trains and actransit is operating bus routes on sunday schedules and santa clara vta has limited bus service and light rail is not operated. And no trains operating on weekends. The death toll from the coronavirus here in the bay area is now at 90. One more than yesterday. The most recent fatality was reported in marin county. Nearly 3700 cases are now confirmed across ten counties. Santa clara county has the most with more than 1200 infections. For our viewers in lake and mendocino counties were keeping track of cases there, and lake county had the first case of coronavirus, the patient had been exposed while on a job outside the county, and Mendocino County is reporting four confirmed cases. Santa clara has accepted its first coronavirus patients at the citys Convention Center. The center is serving as one of californias first active field hospitals. The site was converted and outfitted with beds, supplies and medical supplies by the national guard. Current capacity seems to be normalized within our Hospital System today. But if for some reason we do surge up, they will have the ability to transfer low acute patients to this side, where they can then carry out their recovery. The Convention Center has the capacity to serve up to 250 people and will enable hospitals to maintain their capacity to treat patients who are more seriously ill. What was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime for a south sn francisco couple has turned into a family tragedy. 71yearold wilson ma died overnight after contracting coronavirus on board the coral princess cruise ship which is now docked in miami. His wife is showing symptoms. Late tonight, she was brought off the ship and taken to a miami area hospital. The couples daughter spoke to us earlier today from new york. She has underlying conditions so it makes me more woerried an if this is just a replay of what happened to my dad, my dad started with oxygen to keep him comfortable and within four hours they needed to put him on a ventilator. The couple set sail on their dream cruise vacation which started before the states began issuing shelter in place orders. Three people on board the cruise line ver now died. Contra costa county says a patient at the Orinda Care Center has died. The county told the abc 7 news iteam reporter dan noys that the elderly resident had already been in hospice. 27 residents at the care center have tested positive and 18 others are waiting for test results to come back. Officials believe the outbreak began with five people, three Staff Members and two residents and now efforts are to stop the spread and those employees who tested positive are now isolating at home. Criminal trial dates have been extended by 60 days. The situation at laguna honda hospital in San Francisco is getting worse with 14 confirmed cases of the coronavirus there. 11 are among staff who looked after patient, and three are among residents. And benicia is cracking down on people who are gathering at cityowned parking lots and violating social distancing orders. Those lots are now closed. A 4yearold tiger at the bronx zoo in new york city is americas first Coronavirus Infection discovered in an animal. The malaya tiger named nadia is believed to have been infected by an asymptomatic zoo keeper. Nicky smith has spent 14 years at safari west, and says those in the animal world are well aware of what is called zoonotic deed, those spread from humans to animals and viceversa which includes flu types and infections among other things. It is something that we actually train for. And it may look like just another day feeding the giraffes, but they have sprayed this area down, all of the handles right here, and the light switches, in an attempt to be extra cautious. Theyre also using gloves when feeding, sanitizer for handles and doors when entering and exiting habitats, using foot bath stations when going into or coming out of those areas. But that changes as we head into the afternoon, and by about noon, you can see the showers moving into the south bay, again, there is that chance around Mount Hamilton of a dusting of snow, and as the day wears on, the showers kind of rotate north, so in the north bay, we would expect that rain to last probably about to 4 00, 5 00 in the evening before the system pushes out here monday night.
