hallmark of influenza, the flu virus, is body aches. what happens with coronavirus is more of a difficulty breathing, diarrhea. >> so you don't get the same achy joints coronavirus d.c. with the flu. >> not as much. >> interesting. >> what are some of the other symptoms you can talk about? >> with coronavirus, really, it is a virus that sticks on all of your mucus memorandum brains and transmitted number to spread rapidly as it did in china? or not so much? >> so we think that the cdc has this under control. in fact, we met with the cdc representatives earlier today to discuss something on your newscast earlier. the group that is coming to travis air force base under quarantine. we haven't seen it happen in 50 years so we know the government is taking it seriously. because of the early involvement in quarantining wuhan city as well as people who might be infected, even in the early innings, we're hoping it is undero. >> and controllable. >> yes. >> i haven't really heard this discussed. more people will die this year from the flu than the coronavirus. >> without question. >> a significant difference. then how dangerous really is the coronavirus to life? i mean, i know the symptoms can be difficult. but if it is really, is it less deadly handle the the flu in individual cases? >> so unfortunately, in individual cases, it is more deadly handle the influenza. >> does it depend on who gets it? >> that's the other part that is a bit more scary. so typically no flu causes death in -- typically it is in older patients. but coronavirus is younger than 50. the death rate is higher than no flu but much less common. so in any given cold and flu season, 5 to 10% of the cold flu that's people get are coronaviruses. it turns out in 2019, this is a new coronavirus related
