few doors down. >> i saw them carry a body out. >> reporter: four days ago she saw the man who lives in the town hus moving in. >> i was just walking my dog and i welcomed them into the neighborhood and that was it. they seemed very, very nice. >> reporter: at 11:30 on new year's night the dublin police say the new neighbor woke up to banging at his door, so he looked out, saw his ex-girlfriend and then opened the door. police say a man forcedcedced >> at that point the resident had his own firearm and he was scared for his life and used his own firearm to start shooting his way basically out of danger, out of his residence and called police. >> reporter: the man who was shot once also allegedly fired his gun. the ex-girlfriend died an scene and the resident escaped uninjured. police say they don't want families in the neighborhood which is full of children to be worried, but they definitely are. >> for there to be a shooting here three doors down is very alarming. this a very safe neighborhood. >> reporter: so police tell me they are still ting to understand why the man and his ex-girlfriend showed up here in dublin to begin with. neither of them are from the dublin area. police tell me that no charges are pending against the resident. the investigation is very much ongoing. in dublin, kate larson, abc 7 news. in the north bay authorities tonight are investigating a deadly crash that happened during a police chase. sky 7 was overhead near the whe 59-year-old suspect behind the wheel of sve t died. chp says the case started -- the chase started after officers saw building a better bay area sometimes means making tough decisions. in san carlos city leaders are looking to build more affordable housing. that sounds great given the problems we're having with housing except in one case that means they're demolishing an apartment building full of tenants. >> reporter: there are plans in the works to demolish this six affordable housing units to build 25 to talked to residents of those six units off cherry street. they say they first heard of these plans through the paper. >> that's a pretty bad way to find out anything is to find out in the paper that you're targeted for a demolition or a change that's going to disrupt your life. >> reporter: rick sandoval is retired and has lived in this apartment for over ten years. he says even though there is word their landlord will find them alternative housing he see mow questions than answers. >> the issue is where is that going to be? is it going to be someplace here in san carlos? i'm single and i can adjust a little bit, but, you know, there are people here that got families. >> reporter: as far as where plans stand the mayor says they're currently in escrow right now, and they're continuing
