Bay Area School Districts say they have plans in place to deal with a power shutdown am oakland unified has sent out a warning ten of their schools could lose power this week. The district says any affected schools will close for the day. Plans are in place for robo calls and online notifications for students and parents. Other School Districts have similar plans in place. B. A. R. T. Says any pg e power shutoff should not affect service. Its trains will continue to operate because they dont rely on pg e for power. Station escalators, ticket vending machines and lighting do rely on pg e for power but the Transit Agency enhanced its backup power supply. Pg e says the best way to find out if your power is going to go out is to monitor its outage website. Dan ashley shows us how it works. Reporter projects like vilas on the park that Shows Progress is happening in creating Affordable Housing. It has raised 112 million from Tech Companies to start these projects. Most recently google have been able to provide us the capital we need in order to help start up Affordable Housing developments throughout the bay area. Reporter that fund has gone to more than 20 developers to create 2,300 units of Affordable Housing. Some are still empty lots awaiting ground break. Many sites are near Public Transit and jobs. A big challenge for Affordable Housing developers is finding land especially in the area where there is so much competing interest for commercial development. This site is going to be the site of 130 Affordable Housing units. Every piece of land theyre competing for, so is a luxury housing developer or so is an office developer. Sometimes a city or county looking to cite another office building. Reporter Silicon Valley continues to grow jobs. The housing for Silicon Valley has had a banner year lending over 73 million in 2019. An increase of 36 million from last years 37 million. Another program is also helping individuals with down payments to buy homes. A family was able to buy an 800,000 house.
