Authorities say vasquez first met the alleged victim at a stadium in pennsylvania and the girl found him on social media where police say it escalated from there, adding vasquez tried to perform sex acts with her inside a car and texted the victim an explicit video. Officers were able to identify vasquez by tattoos. These allegations are very, very serious. The term that was used earlier is heinous. In fact, a member in each generation of her family has been in Public Service in this country since the 1600s. Her name is marie coreen morrison clayburn boggs. Everyone calls her lindsay. She raised three children. A daughter who was the mayor of princeton, new jersey. A son who is this citys leading lawyer lobbyist. Another daughter, our own Cokie Roberts, who now tells her mothers story. Thats my mother. She managed the children, she also managed the campaigns. Every two years. She worked harder in this campaign than anybody else. This is for you from me. Over the years with soft, southern manners and sharp political sense, they moved as a couple to the center of power in washington. A broker between democratic factions, my father went into the congressional leadership as his friend jack kennedy went into the white house. But too soon the exciting days turned into sad ones, though an even closer friend took over the presidency. With the hoopla of the great society, president johnson called on my mother to help set up the head start program. My father called on her to help with his office. My sister and i called on her to help with each of our weddings where she did all the cooking for the more than 1,500 guests. My mother was the wife, albeit a politically skilled wife. It left an impression on her, how much the women were really doing. We watched them run the political conventions, their husbands offices, their campaigns. When i first met her she completely broke down all those walls that i thought, you know, oh my gosh, its cokie. That shed be this towering figure. She made me feel like i was part of her family, that i was her son or grandson. You see a picture of us there during one of the debates during 2016. She was a mentor. Not just obviously to women but also to men here at abc news. She was just an incredible figure. And i will also remember how sometimes i would say, hey, im really busy, im covering stories, because she asked me what am i working on . She would always say, good, because she had a work ethic like no other, and she put in the work, she knew that it was good for us to be great journalists, to ask the tough questions and the fair questions, and to get to work. Reporter Cokie Roberts was a fixture in washington, known for her sharp reporting and analysis, her quick wit, grace, and kindness. Notably her support of women in journalism. Cokie pushed for women to push for a seat at the table. Cokie grew up with a front row seat to american political history. Her full name was mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne roberts. It was essentially reporting and then writing very brief little stories and i loved it. In 2002, cokie battled Breast Cancer and spoke candidly about being on television while wearing a wig. I felt first going on air in a wig that i felt really goofy. Reporter it was that honesty that humanity, that made her stand out in the world of politics. Karen travers, abc news, washington. And as karen mentioned, cokie coanchored abcs this week from 1996 to 2002. Her coanchor was abcs Sam Donaldson. This morning we hear his thoughts about their friendship and longtime sunday morning partnership. I loved her as a coanchor in addition to just liking her as a person. In our business, in any business i guess, theres lots of jealousies, lots of competitive juices are flowing. Even with friends. You want the big story. You want the assignment thats the better assignment. You want the big interview. And they can do the secondary interview. Cokie and i had none of that. Its just wonderful. I think her legacy would be twofold. As a journalist, shes in the pantheons of the greats. Shell always be there. As a female journalist who helped other women, not just in journalism, but in other walks of life, she will be seen then as a journalist par excellence in the pantheon hall of fame, and as a person, a woman who helped empower other people, other women, and for that matter, everybody. And as far as im concerned, and i think everyone who was privileged to know her personally, shell be remembered as a great friend, a great loving, kind friend who would go out of her way to do what you needed done if you needed some help. She was indefatigable. She was a mentor to young women. She was a force of nature. Really, force of nature. Well said, Sam Donaldson, whos a legend in his own right. Again, Cokie Roberts died at the age of 75 after complications from Breast Cancer. As sam there was really just delivering some powerful words to describe her, i just really feel like its difficult to really encapsulate and have the words to describe someone like Cokie Roberts. But we are doing our best this morning to do that. You heard him say it there, he said she helped women not just in journalism but in all aspects of her life. And you even heard her just be so vulnerable by sharing her experience about wearing a wig after dealing with her Breast Cancer treatment on air and just that vulnerability, that was something that resonates with other cancer survivors or people who are going through it.
