Visibility has been limited in santa rosa to a fourth of a mile this morning. Its getting a little bit better in Half Moon Bay. Youll see some high clouds as well. And this is ahead of a front coming our way, bringing us some rain, possibly, tomorrow. For today, you can expect breezy conditions on the coast throughout the day. The onshore flow will mean a cooler afternoon for everyone. Around the bay, mid70s. At the coast, mid60s, liz. Thanks, frances. A portion o 101 is shut down this after the chp says a car drove through construction work. Officers tried to pull the car over because the driver didnt follow traffic controls. But now the two people inside that car are refusing to get out. This is happening between river road and airport boulevard. Chp first tweeted about this. You can see here, just about 7 00 this morning, and says the standoff continues. There was no estimated time for when the lanes will reopen. And developing news, Berkeley Police are investigating a deadly hit and run near the ashby b. A. R. T. Station just before 10 30 last night at adeline street and ashby avenue. Officers arrived and found the victim on the street. Police are looking for the suspect but have not released details about the driver or their car. The victim has not been identified. New details about a freeway shooting last night in vallejo. All lanes of interstate 80 are back open this morning. The shooting was first reported around 8 30 last night. The chp says a person in a car heading east was hit by at least one bullet. That persons condition is not known. The lane closure jammed up traffic all the way across the bridge. Four hours later the lanes reopened. Chp has not said what led to the shooting. A tragic story in the north bay, a man has been arrested for murder after a child was found dead inside a santa rosa home. Police say a woman went to check on people at a home yesterday. When she went inside she discovered a man and baby both unresponsive. She then called police. Officers say the man was unconscious in a room lying next to a 13monthold boy who had died. The man was taken to a hospital and has been arrested. Police say there were no signs of physical violence at the scene but there were signs of recent drug use near the child. Investigators believe the mans actions caused the death of the young boy. However, the exact cause of death has not been determined. Now, a father who was shot and killed while helping a friend break up a fight outside an oakland bar has been identified. His friends and family believe he was at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Abc 7 News ReporterLisa Amin Gulezian has the story. My dad heard that help was needed outside. He went outside, and being the helpful person he was, it ended up backfiring. Reporter mario perez was larger than life, a loyal person who was shot and killed around 1 00 a. M. Saturday as he tried to help the owner of the laurel lounge break up a fight outside. Mario was laying right there in the middle of masterson and 38th. Reporter perez, his brother, and sisterinlaw were all shot by a man apparently starting a fight with the bars bartender. I thought he would make it, because he was talking. The lady over there wasnt saying anything, just laying there. Another guy got shot but i think his was minor. Reporter perez and his family were popular regulars at the bar, known by many as a funloving, happy family man. Its heartbreaking to know that hes not here with us. Because he was my dear friend. Like family to us. He was a beautiful person. If you knew the perezes, they were beautiful. Reporter right now sadness washes over the perez family. They gathered to remember the man who brought so much to their lives. What i miss about my dad is getting to do simple things with him, getting to talk with him, getting just to sit down in that truck, learn stories, talk stories, listen to music with him. President trump will be here in the bay area in two days for reelection fundraiser. This will be his first visit since he took office. His campaign has not revealed the location ofs politico reported that it would be in atherton but now that has changed, according to our media partner the mercury news. Atherton police say he wont be there. Activists are hoping to fly a giant trump balloon during the event. Mr. Trump was last here in 2016 when he was running for the republican nomination. You might remember his appearance in burlingame drew protests, even leaving some people bloody. Now to a bizarre story weve been following this weekend. A protester was arrested after throwing what appears to be blood and a feminine hygiene product at senators at the state capital on friday. This all happened in the Senate Chamber during the final day of the legislative session. A local senator is now telling us how it all happened. Abc 7 News Reporter luz pena has those details. Reporter they were finalizing their work in the chamber to adjourn for the year. This happened. The object came over my head, landed in front and a rain of fluid came down on top of me and my colleagues. Reporter according to senator steve glazer who represents orinda and other parts of the east bay, a protester threw a red liquid from the visitors gallery and it hit at least eight senators. The protester yelled. This is the blood of the dead babies, Something Like that. Reporter the protester was identified as rebecca dalelio. She was arrested on six charges including assault and vandalism. I had a drop on my head, my clothes, of course my desk. Reporter chp evacuated the chamber and taped off the crime scene. Senators were asked to take showers and undergo medical evaluations. Its believed that the person who engaged in this conduct was a part of that group, we call them antivaxors. Reporter the Group Disrupted hearings. One of the groups outside the capital denounced the act. Were peaceful parents, mothers and fathers. Reporter whats your message to that protester . Simply that that horrible conduct achieved nothing, it wa politically stupid, and pragmatically it didnt affect the work of the senate. We got back to business. Reporter in orinda, luz pena, abc 7 news. In the east bay, a fire did significant damage to a home and the smoke was visible from interstate 880. Yesterday abc 7 news was in hayward and caught the aftermath on royal avenue near a street. The fire started around noon. And you can see here the burnedout garage as well as a car that went up in flames. There is no word on whether anyone was hurt or what caused the fire. Taking a live look now at San Francisco international airport, where it seems those delays and cancellations may be easing as a main runway is under construction. The runway has been closed for more than a week now to allow crews to repair cracks in the pavement. Airport Officials Say the second phase of the project began yesterday. They say there were 180 delays and nine cancellations yesterday. Thats down from 401 delays and 40 cancellations on friday. The runway should reopen in just under two weeks. Search reporter it takes less than a minute for vita to locate a firefighter pretending to be trapped. It takes me about the same amount of time to find out how miserably hot and uncomfortable this gear is. But theyre supposed to move out by 2024 to make room for new development. Supervisor aaron peskin says the department will have a top training center. It just may not be here. Whether it is at Treasure Island or other pieces of city land, whether its at the airport, we have excess land at the San Francisco zoo.
