Lets get over to alexis and see whats going on outside. Good morning, mike. We have some type of drainage issue having at b. A. R. T. s embarcadero station. We have video we just got in from one of our coworkers trying to get to work this morning. Obviously a big water leak here at the station. Crews are working on repairing that and cleaning up at the moment. Were still trying to get more information from b. A. R. T. So are fa they havent given us any information on how this is impacting trains odown. We do know it is impacting muni. They are not running tlarains through that station. Montgomery will be the last stop for the trains that typically stop there. Hopefully well have an update shortly. We also have a flipped tanker truck in the richmond area. This is east bay 80 richmond parkway connector is closed. That tn kerr flipped over on the offramp. That is now leaking a lot of liquid asphalt binder. Nasty stuff. Hazmat crews are there and large emergency response. Sounds like the driver is okay. Im guessing the offramp will be closed sometimes. Its the countercommute direction, were okay as far as the backup is concerned. Bad time for that water leak at the embarcadero station. Well keep on top of that. In the north bay, plans to clean up the february landslide in sausalito have been delayed until september. The city council rejected bids tuesday from seven Construction Companies after a staff member noticed a fema requirement wasnt met in the bidding process. Now, officials are concerned it could jeopardize federal funding for the project. The city is expected to open a new 30day window forbids this week. Their nose founder Elizabeth Holmes in court and what we can expect next in the case. Highrise rescue in. We want to get to the breaking news were tracking in San Francisco. A major leak causing problemsaliproblems at the embarcadero station. Looks like a lot of water is going on the platform at muni. Our abc 7 news assignment editor Jim Huntington is there. This is affecting the b. A. R. T. Platform or the muni platform . The muni platforms are closed. Muni is not stopping at embarcadero. The main picture is at the embarcadero part where theres a waterfall cascading down from the floor above onto b. A. R. T. Cars headed eastbound this morning. Ive been commuting here for nine years and ive never seen anything like it. Right now the main waterfall is falling on to the last two or three cars that would roll into the embarcadero station heading toward oakland. Its just water everywhere. There are dozens of workers from b. A. R. T. And muni trying to contain the water to keep things dry and clean things up. This all started when a sprinkler line was being tested on the muni level. Tey couldnt turn it off. It started leaking and all the water is pouring down on the the eastbound b. A. R. T. Trains at the embarcadero station. There are people with big squeegees and mops, dozens of workers. Hundreds of gallons of water is pouring on to the eastbound tracks at the embarcadero b. A. R. T. Station. Ive not had a chance to get up to muni, but thats where they were testing it. Its a Fire Suppression system they used to put out fires on the tracks. Muni was testing it last night. They couldnt turn it off. Water is still flowing onto cars as they pull in eastbound at the embarcadero station. Its really a sight to see. Lots of scurrying about, people in yellow vests telling everybody to be careful, stay dry, stay out of the area. If youre coming from the east bay, you get off the train and go to work, but its just quite a sight to see. Jim, what were hearing right now is b. A. R. T. Is tweeting out that muni and b. A. R. T. Trains are actually stopped as they address this issue. I think we were hoping perhaps this would only affect the muni platform and perhaps only muni service at the station. It looks like as of right now, theyre trying to address this video were looking at which is a pretty unbelievable amount of water coming down from the ceiling. I want to emphasize there are dozens of workers here from both b. A. R. T. And muni. Theyre trying to keep everybody away from the water. Theyre feverishly trying to clean up the water. It has not stopped yet. When you see that cascading what im calling a waterfall, they just dont seem to have a handle on it yet. That is a wet mess. For anyone who is not familiar, this is a very important station because embarcadero, of course, is the first station after you go through the transbay tube or on your way to the transbay tube. This is the play where a lot of people are coming to work every day to go to the financial district. If you are about to take b. A. R. T. Or muni and heading in that direction, youre probably going to especially if youre coming from going eastbound and stop at embarcadero, you probably want to get off at powell or maybe get off an montgomery and walk a rt getork i obviouy we don know when the trains will be rolling again. One minor clarification. They say trains are coming and going or stopping. Still until the last few minutes, b. A. R. T. Was stopping westbound coming in from the east bay. Just like anything else in San Francisco, commuters need to be taking it all in slide. Everybody is showing up for work, glancing over at whats happening. People have to get to work and you keep trucking up the escalators. Its been a heck of a commute here so far this morning. Jim, well have a towel for you. We appreciate you squloining us. What a mess. Just to be clear again, as jim was saying, westbound so if youre coming from oakland coming into the city, you should be fine. If youre going in the opposite direction, coming from sfo or something into the city, then youll want to get off before embarcadero. Get off at powell or montgomery. Thats something else. Well continue watching that to see what progresses over the next hour or so. Were hearing from one of two window washers left dangling in their platform from the Millennium Tower complex. They got stuck yesterday afternoon outside the tenth floor. Fire crews had to come rescue them after the motor on their rig stopped working. One of the window washers said he is just thankful he got down. The motor stopped working on the rig. So we tried to fix it. And then it wouldnt work anymore. We wanted to get in, get set. They ended up being stuck for more than four hours. Yikes. Well check in on the weather with meteorologist mike nicco. Glad theyre okay. Thats good news there. No rain here like were seeing in those b. A. R. T. Stations and muni stations, but we do have a little mist as we look at pier 39 and fishermans wharf. Right now a mixture of sun and clouds this afternoon. More clouds and patchy drizzle tonight. Below average temperatures in the afternoon hours through at least sunday. Here is a look at the cold front. Not sure its going to quite make it all the way through. What it isnt doing is inducing that cooler onshore breeze for today, tomorrow and saturday. Look what it does to our temperatures, brings them from below average, from 76 in milpitas. Only 69 in santa cruz. 70 to 76, very comfortable, but cooler than average on the peninsula. Much more cloud cover along the coast today and low 60s there with mid to upper 60s in downtown and South San Francisco and sausalito. Low 60s, much more cloud cover across the north bay. Around the san pablo bay, mid to upper 70s. North you go, the farther you are away from the cooling water, low to mid 80s. 70 in oakland, 76 in fremont. 80 to 89 degrees in our east bay valleys. Tonight a little cooler than that morning. Temperatures in the mid 50s to around 60. Lets take a look at my accuweather sevenday forecast, the pattern holds tomorrow, maybe a degree or two of warming saturday inland. Some of that reaches the bay sunday. And then monday, tuesday and wednesday, just a little bit warmer than average away from the coast. Alexis . All right. Were still obviously trying to get more information on this issue happening with b. A. R. T. This morning at the embarcadero station. That major leak. We talked to our coworker Jim Huntington about. Water pouring down onto the platform and b. A. R. T. Trains heading in the east bay direction, by passing the embarcadero station. Its also impacting muni trains. Thats the main platform the water was pouring down to. That means montgomery will be the last stop for the l, m and j lines. As soon as we get more information, i will pass that along to you. Were doing okay here at the bay bridge toll plaza. Were heavy coming in on 580, a little longer than average. Two blocking issues, disabled vehicle just before the metering lights. One has cleared. Trains, sounds like a lot of those trains headed in the east bay direction. Getting all this water drained down on to them as well. So now east bay trains are not stopping at embarcadero station either. You want to head over to montgomery instead. This is not our only transit issue this morning. I actually were getting an update now from our operations control center, it appears were resuming east bay stops at the embarcadero station. We stopped that for about a half hour because of this leak. The information i have at this point is the leak started on the muni level of the station. Of course, we share our downtown stations with muni. There was some sort of leak on the muni level coming down to the platform of the embarcadero station. Throughout this the station remained open. We were able to maintain our service. The westbound trains have always been able to make stops in embarcadero this morning. It was the eastbound trains for about a half hour, we stopped them from making stops at the embarcadero station. We were advising montgomery as an alternative. It appears at this point were now allowing those eastbound trains to stop at embarcadero. We still have crews on the platform doing a lot of cleanup work and making sure our riders dont come anywhere nerney sort of danger because of this situation. But again, it does look like were making progress on this. Chris, is the water still flowing from that Sprinkler System . Is that under control . Im not there so i cant say with certainty. I know we were making progress with this work, but i dont know if the water has been completely stopped at this point. I know youre obviously calling us from b. A. R. T. Do you have any idea whats going on with the muni platform now at the embarcadero station . No, i do not. Sorry. So b. A. R. T. Service back to normal then. Is that right . That is my understanding. Of course, these are circumstances that are very much evolving as the situation moves forward. But i can tell you that we have a lot of b. A. R. T. Staff on that platform right now and they have been making progress in the cleanup work on this. The latest word i have from our control center is we are resuming those eastbound stops. Okay. That is very good news, chris. We app forth to the embarcadero station, youll once again stop there. Thats a major stop for people who work in the financial district. Chris, appreciate your time. Thank you. Now we turn to new developments on a proposed uber and lyft tax. San francisco voters will decide in november if they want to pay for their rides. At least how thats shaping up.
