Say that an officer on the first floor of the mall heard gunshots coming from the second floor and called for backup. That gunfire between two groups that were fighting. Reporter people running by this ice cream shop, the owner pulling customers in, then pulling down the gate before armed officers came charging r close the gate and go back inside and hide. Reporter as employees hid, police cleared hundreds of people from the mall and began an allout search for the suspects, including at this nearby marshalls where dozens of people ran from the store. Today Mall Shoppers returned. Its a sad situation. Reporter this bullet hole remains while a Maintenance Worker covered up two others today, reminders of what happened here and how much worse some feared it could have reporter investigators are going through Surveillance Video looking for images of the suspects. You can imagine it was so chaotic here yesterday, people were running from this mall fearing for their lives and left their belongings behind. Neighbors have been complaining about this person, the neighbor for years. We told you several families have restraining orders, but liz kreutz has been reporting on this and says nothing has been done. In this charming, Quiet Community in half moon baldy family says they live in fear. I dont feel safe here. I dont feel safe for my family. I dont feel safe for the community. Michelle and her son luca were on a walk friday with their dog when their neighbors dog attacked them. Its a 90 to 100 pound dog, and its running straight at me, and i know it has a history of being aggressive. Knowing that history, michelle had started recording on her phone when they first saw the dog. Within seconds it was running towards them. And in this moment she dropped it. Get that dog away from me michelle says the dog bit her on the finger and scratched her right calf. In that moment im thinking its my life or my dogs or my moms. Despite their cries for help, michelle and luca say their neighbor was laughing. Eventually he grabbed his dog and pulled him away. No apology. No, nothing, said nothing to us. Reporter michelle is shaken up but not surprised. She said for years this neighbor and his dog have terrorized the community. She says her family is one of six to have a restraining order against him. Mike ellafano is another for these reasons. There are threats, the altercations, the continued harassment. Neighbors told me they have reported many of these incidents to police. I called animal control. They said they could not comment on this recent incident because they are actively investigating. The neighbor was not home when we knocked, but michelle says he did turn his dog in to animal control during the investigation. You were also saying you actually feel for his dog. The dog is doing what its been trained to do. Its not the dogs fault. Still, shes asking for something to be done, but even that she says is terrifying. There is going to be retribution. William plainer pleaded no contest in april to an assault charge. Prosecutors say he used a pole to knock a woman unconscious, and this is video of the melee. The fight broke out between members of the white nationalists traditionist worker party and counter protesters. 14 people were hurt including two who were stabbed f. Three counter protesters will face charges this fall. California has become the first state to ban Racial Discrimination against people based on their natural hair style. Governor newsome signed the crown act into law today. The act applies to workplaces and schools. Senator Holly Mitchell of los angeles sponsored the bill. She said its all about giving People Choice about how to wear their hair, but now they can do what they want without fear. The city calls them Community Cabins. Theyre designed to provide shortterm shelter and to connect people with resources to get them into permanent housing. The petaluma Panthers Football and cheer teams are on the hook for the cost. They just walked off and we didnt notice being out in front that it was gone until later. It was very unfortunate. The teams rely on the sale of fireworks to help pay for equipment. The Gilroy High School wrestling team is hoping to rake in a lot of money with its fireworks stand. Back in february, governor newsome appeared to put the brakes on the controversial high speed rail project despite some setbacks and cost overruns planning is still underway. After years of studying costs, Community Concerns and environmental impacts, the two Northern California routes of the states high speed rail have been picked. From San Francisco through particular paths, about 15 billion. Boris lipkin is the Northern California regional director of the California High Speed Rail Authority. He says from San Francisco to san jose they picked a route that uses the existing caltrain corridor which is already being electrified. The differentiating factors were the location for high speed rail on the east or west side ofts track in brisbane as well as whether a tracking pass would be needed between san mateo and redwood city. The route does not have a passing track. Going from san jose to her sed e more complicated. They say their decision incorporates yoousiusing existil lines and with the least impact on surrounding cities. Property impacts that we might have in terms of, you know, buyingnew land for a rail corridor as well as noise and other things that we heard from communities around the issues that they care about. Transportation analyst karen fillbrick says she supports the decision. She says using existing tracks reduces capital cost, but there could be obstacles. The challenge is you have to have very close collaboration, and with operations and maintenance and that can sometimes prove difficult. The California High Speed Rail Authority will now hold a series of Community Meetings in july followed by several open houses in august to get public opinion. The board will vote in september. An attorney for families who are suing boeing is criticizing the offer saying it seems disingenuous so early in the litigation process. This offer comes after deadly crashes of max 737 planes flown by Indonesian Airline lion air and ethiopian airlines, 346 people died in those crashes. A boeing spokesperson says those who accept a share of the 100 Million Compensation Fund will not be required to give up the right to pursue legal action against the company. The u. S.
